Alright, so a little piece of news has been floating around on the Devroom of an idea expressed by the CEO of CyberConnect2. www.siliconera.com/2011/07/22/cyberconnect2s-ceo-would-be-happy-to-work-on-mega-man-legends-3/Basically, the CEO of CC2 has expressed a desire to work on Megaman Legends 3, although whether or not he would be continuing from the material left off from Developers isn't exactly stated. There's also the chance that the original Devroom Team, as well as the fans, wouldn't be able to continue participating with the development of the game should the title be handed over. If this article is right, then perhaps this would be another solid chance at seeing a full-on Legends 3 game actually becoming a reality? For those unfamiliar with CC2, the company has worked on a variety of games, from the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series to the .Hack Series, as well as an extended library of other games. What do you think, is a company like this trust-worthy enough in your opinion? Would you like to see them give it a shot?

Just so you guys get a bit familiar with CyberConnect2, here's one of the games developed by them: Solatorobo: Red the Hunter. Which is by itself a spiritual sequel of underrated PS1 game Tail Concerto:
Gameplay starts at 1:34.

I liked what I played of Tail Concerto back in the day. If they could collaborate with the old Devteam, that would be awesome!

Honestly, I've yet to play a game created by CC2, except for Ultimate Ninja Storm, which was a rather okay game from what I remember, though I only played for about 30 minutes.
But still, if their CEO is really making an offer to take over development of this game, I think this is probably one of the better opportunities, if not the best, for allowing Megaman Legends 3 to see a proper release, which is probably why I feel more focused on this than anything else.
I'm not too sure about the business aspect of allowing an outside company to work on their games, but I'm thinking that it'll probably be better, financially, for Capcom to allow CC2 to work on MML3, especially if they allow them to keep going with material that's already been developed, and follow some sort of development plan that the original Devteam may have already established.

I liked Tail Concerto back in the day. Who knows? If this works out, they may be the counter-balance to Capcom's occasionaly stupid plot moves....

As someone who's played both .hack PS2 games, and watched a playthrough of Tail Concerto and Solatorobo...if Capcom won't do it, there's no other developer I'd trust more with the project than CC2 Corp. They'd be able to deliver a game on par, or better than, Capcom would do themselves.
I'd support this 100%. The only person who stood in the way of MML3 being outsourced in the past was Inafune, and for better or worse, he doesn't have much say in the matter anymore.

I'd be for it. I'd almost rather Capcom farm it out at this point, while I trust the dev team, I don't trust the execs.

It doesn't seem like there's any other developer for it - both in expertise and, well, heart. It might just be me getting my hopes up, but I feel like they really would like to do this. Certianly the fans seem to think so - what else can we do? I'd support this move in anyway I can.
So... how can I?

Remember when they said Inti made a bid to make MML3 and Inafune turned them down? I believe he wanted to keep it in-house, and involve anyone he could from the original development staff to ensure the most authentic successor.
Now that it's no longer his decision, they may very well outsource it, but I'm not sure the end result will be the best possible MML3. I guess if we're desperate, it doesn't make a difference.

The only person who stood in the way of MML3 being outsourced in the past was Inafune... Remember when they said Inti made a bid to make MML3 and Inafune turned them down? The problem is that whereas before, the original devteam hadn't been given a shot. Now that Capcom's said no to the original devteam, there's little point in hoping those particular people to work on the game; they aren't allowed, even though they clearly enjoyed doing so and wanted to continue. The next best option, and the most realistic one at this point, is convincing Capcom to outsource it. I guess if we're desperate, it doesn't make a difference. Some of us are desperate, but it does matter who develops the title. If Hiroshi is half as much of a fan as any of us, considering his studio's past work, he'd have a very good chance at delivering an experience as-good-as the original team. 'Sides, wasn't it Capcom themselves that said it was the fans' responsibility at developing the game? Fits the criteria. The best part is, CyberConnect2's latest title, 'Asura's Wrath', is being published by Capcom, meaning they actually do have an in with the company. If it were pursued, the notion might actually be given consideration.

Mr. Matsuyama's twitter account: twitter.com/#!/piroshi_cc2 And his LinkedIn account: www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/Hiroshi/Matsuyama/(4th one down) Word of advice: include the legends 3 logo or an otherwise appropriate Legends image in anything you send to him. I'm not sure if he speaks English or not, and it'll ensure that we get the message across instantly.

To be sure it is not my first option. However given the recent turn of events it is an acceptable one. Ideally the original dev team would resume the game development. Unfortunately Sven does not seem to think that is a possibility (of course decisions can be reversed). If Capcom decided to resume development the main thing I am worried about is that they'd rush the development to shut their "fans" up. CC2 seems to be a competent company whose CEO is actually a fan of the game. One of their recent games has actually been described as being in a similar vein as Legends.
