Well, I woke up today and as I worried it was not some sort of horrendous nightmare that I had, it truly is canceled.
I must say that I am actually slightly more ticked today than I was yesterday, though no I am not flaming mad. No it's not the end of the wold and certainly not the largest worry that I currently have in life. However Legends was my favorite game series that I was extremely stoked for. The prospect of Legends 3 almost brought back that childhood giddiness that video games (I still enjoy playing the occasional video game, but it's not my main thing any more) used to bring me and it's fairly disappointing to have that pulled away.
I stand my by vow to not buy another Capcom game.
Firstly at large Capcom's lineup bore me (I hate fighters which seems to be Capcom's huge focus these days). On the off chance that they release a game that they have to have I'll use self control and wait until it's well into its life cycle and buy it used.
I know that me not buying Capcom games is just a futile as me not buying Nike shoes; life will certainly go on for them without me and my patronage. However, I just cannot support a company that does it's fans that dirty (it's more of a principle of the matter for me).
At this point I really don't care if Capcom goes six feet under. The Capcom that made the origional Legends, the series with heart, is dead (this is not to be confused with the dev team involved with the project). I am convinced that if the current efforts to bring it back when the prototype is so close fail, it will never be released under the current management and toxic corporate atmosphere. Capcom is unwilling to take the risks it takes to make a great game. It is merely content releasing "sure things" taking the form of regurgitation of the same old thing and re-releasing the same game and milking their fans.
The way that they handled the cancellation shows what kind of company they are. They recanted on releasing the prototype. They hurry and close up the Japanese devroom and don't even let the dev team tell us how sorry they are (which I'm sure they are). Instead they just give us a faceless letter and explain noting under the veil of some mysterious "unmet conditions"
