I won this a while ago on eBay and hadn't gotten around to scanning it until today. | This is an ad for Mega Man Legends snipped out of a Captain America comic book. I have a 600dpi (2583x5598) scan if anybody wants. |

:13: WOW. I wonder how old that ad is. What were the details of the contest? Or was it just like a regular auction?
(I would totally like a link to the 2583x5598 scan btw)

Haha, I bought the same thing off of ebay a year or two ago! I think for the same price, too! I had no idea what it was, but it was Legends and inexpensive, so I went for it. I never did put it up; I should seriously do that now. It’s nice and small so it doesn’t take up a lot of space.
But it’s from a Captain America comic? I never knew!

Bless us and splash us, a tasty, nostalgic morsel it would make us... ... sorry, been watching [iThe Hobbit,[/i].. A good find, this ad. Never though I'd see this in a Captain America comic.

I have a poster that a friend bought for me with the same images and text (except "awesome weapons" and "diabolical bosses") and Roll and Teisel on 3d at the down left corner. This ad is amazing too.

The ad page from a comic was $8.99? Or the whole comic itself? You could almost certainly walk into any comic store with a back issue selection and get the entire issue for $2. A lot of comics from the 90s sell for cheap these days. I have a bunch of issues with the MML ads in them sitting in my shelves right now. If only I knew I could rip out the individual pages and sell them on eBay for more than what an entire stack would get me if I tried to trade them in at the same stores I bought them.
Or am I missing something and that's actually a poster-sized ad insert that came with the comic? It still would have been a free addition to a $3 comic that would be cheaper today.

That's a neat ad. Never saw it before.
Wait, that ad was $8.99?

I just hope that's shipping included. Yeesh. Even a hardcore collector shouldn't have to be fleeced like that. Who would even put something like that up for sale? You may as well sell an old mail flyer. It is not worth anything.
I think ad pages are actually worth negative dollars considering the companies like Capcom pay to have them put in the comic, and that sponsorship enables the publisher to keep the price of the issue low. To mark up a piece of paper from minus twenty cents to nine freakin' dollars takes some audacity.

Rai, a hardcore collector does their duty no matter how 'hard' it is, as it is the 'core' of their existence. Though I do agree: for 8.99 us currency, gimme the full CA comic. I'm not necessarily a Cap fan, but hey ya never know it till you taste it!.

In 1997, Cap was being done by Rob Liefeld, so no, you probably wouldn't want that issue. I can at least see why someone tore out the pages to be scattered across the winds.
That's still no reason to value the ad page that much. A hardcore collector would be better off finding any other release from that time period in a back-issue bin and paying two bucks for it, like I said.
