MLT's been doing so much awesome artwork for my silly penguin idea (thanks MLT! ), that I'm probably going to end up treating that like a real submission. So that's what I'll be doing, for the most part. It probably won't win anything, but I think people would like it anyway. And, Cokebots? Count me out. I don't want any part in that militia crap. :17:

Dashe: Was wondering about this. I thought you guys were gonna do all the planning here (and I was waiting to jump in >_>), but the thread just kind of lost focus after a few prospective concepts. It doesn't seem too many people here (other than Chiz/Pitch and MLT) have really tried to team up or make an attempt at a real entry. We do still have a few weeks, but it's probably better if we start forming teams and discussing stuff sooner rather than later, right? : o

White, you've got to be out of your mind. At this rate I'm surprised you just didn't draw me and turn that into an entry. I think I've made a cameo in almost every event you've entered aside from Hetzer. I honestly think our best bet is to form just one core team again, and pick three people to rep it, since we get three this time instead of one, since the only perk you'd get by repping is a bunch of useless CU points, maybe a CU badge, and a servbot number. Last time we split up all it did was cause drama. We'll have to pick a direction and stick with it, whether it's refining the penguin with Pitch and MLT or doing something else. Whatever we do, we should take enough time to work on it so that the backstory and personality are well-polished and likable, the design is expressive and appealing, and both attributes work together to make a well-rounded character. I also think we should stay away from Reaverbots and bats. I'd also like to see some conflict between this mascot and the Bright Bats from the start, for whatever reason, and they wind up keeping it against their wills until it grows on them. Whatever we do though, if we're going to do something big and polish it up, we've got to pick something and stick with it. Either way, everyone who wants to collaborate will have to reach a decision and commit to it because we can't refine what we haven't picked to begin with. Seriously evaluate everyone's ideas and pick out the good parts. Pitch and MLT are really on the right track as far as commitment goes. And Chiz and MLT, even though Vampere's a joke. If someone with a lick of organizational skills could collect all of the concepts we've tossed around already and organize them into one post, that would be amazing.

I'd prefer if you left my penguin alone, if I'm actually going to submit him. I like my scenario as it is, and MLT's done a sensational job sketching it up already. (Thanks again, MLT! ) I've got about as much artwork as I can use in a submission anyway. (∗ mutters something about three image limits ∗) All that's really left is for me to re-write my scenario with proper grammar/conciseness/etc. to cram as much as possible into 600 words. And to give the little guy a name. But that's nothing I can't handle. At this point, making that a group project could only serve to warp the idea into something unrecognizable, imo. :21:I'd be happy to contribute to whatever else you guys want to come up with, though.

Ideas proposed thus far (I believe that I got everything). I will break it down into physical traits/personality traits/background sub-categories.
Physical Characteristics: - reaverbot(ish) - A character that has an exterior shell hiding a dark inner something. It would not obviously be alive when Barrett and gang stumble upon it. -A penguin (taken) -Wears decorative accessories that make it represent a bat or the Bright Bats (like goggles) -physically glows -is robotic in some way -made of parts never seen before in reaverbots (indicating some great treasure lies ahead) -non-threatening -flies or levitates -has spray painted on Bright Bats logo -don’t use traditional reaverbot eye (if a reaverbot design) -a hologram (taken) -a sentient adorable scrap pile -put cloths on it (originally proposed if a reaverbot character) -automated spotting machine -the Bright Bats change its appearance by adding accessories to it (which it doesn’t like) -a toad -a ferret? -mii-tan -expressive -Cokebot -Dashe
Personality traits: -Has amnesia (does not even remember name and the Bright Bats choose one for it) -has strong curiosity that gets it into trouble -mute -optimistic -mischievous -female (possibly Jealous of how Aero and Barrett get along?)
Character background: -a reformed reaverbot -springs to life after the Bright Bats repair it in the ruins. It later helps them out of the ruin. -tied to Barrell turning into Barrett -actually a system observation unit -secretly holds map data for the island -automated spotting machine -reaverbot has cracked eye that is repaired by the team (if a reaverbot design) -carbon tech that survived previous carbon reinitilization -originally in conflict with the Bright Bats

Thanks, Tominator. Geez. No wonder we've concluded nothing. :17: How about a turtle that wishes it could fly?
...Though those personality traits could probably all go together well (though I'm still not fond of amnesia as a plot device, since Mega Man has that already). In fact, 'mischievous' and 'strong curiosity that gets it into trouble' would go really well together. And 'mute' and 'female' could go along with anything, especially if it were ambiguously female to the point where, once the Bats find that out, they've already given it a male name by mistake, like Kevin from UP.

So we get a few ideas hammered out here then come friday we work on the visual side of the ideas?
So anyone got an idea they want to work on?

That would be rather intriguing (and humorous) to have a female character that everyone thinks is a male. I also prefer a mute character over a amnesiac one.
I think some weeding out needs to be done to make this more manageable.
So I think maybe we could use some weed out questions (especially for the physical characteristics).
Do we want a reaver or non-reaver character?
If a non-reaver do we want it to be robotic?
Do we want an animal-like character or more mechanical like one?
Perhaps this is enough for now to get a start on a physical design.
For my personal take, I would prefer a non-reaver design (it just seems too cliche). It only seems natural though that something found in the ruins be mechanical (but I suppose that a organic can find its way into a ruin). I would like both animalish ones and mechanical based ones. I do seem to like the idea of a more mechanical one that looks more bulky and archane than Data or the servbots, but on the other hand this might make it harder to be more cute and loveable so I don't really have a strong opinion on this one.

I DEFINITELY like the idea of a reaverbot character, that would just be awesome! Definitely shouldn't be a bat though, I mean if they're just running into it in the ruins, that would be too big of a coincidence and would seem obviously planned in the scope of the storytelling.
I might give a few of the thumbnail sketches in this thread a try, I think modeling the ball of goop would be cool!
Again, when you all decide on one, let me know via PM if I haven't responded in this thread, I'd love to make a 3D model of something if it will give us the edge.

I'd like to see a non-Reaver, robotic character, or a mechanical-looking animal. There are just too many Reaverbots and bats in CU already. I think we can come up with something more original. Whatever it is, though I'd like it to have Bright Bats goggles.

Not a Reaverbot—that's to be expected. But, there's also going to be plenty of animal-like designs, which leads me to consider the somewhat-mechanical option over the rest. And yes Dashe—it can have the goggles, after it joins the group, lol.

Okay, that settles that. Whatever we do isn't a Reaverbot and has goggles. We should try and make it cute, too, since they'll probably want to market it like nobody's business.

I was thinking that they could find what they believe to be some sort of fossil or maybe a bomb that turns out to be an ancient Mettaur. A pink one. With big, expressive eyebrows to get rid of his need to talk. Aero would take quite the liking to little Mike, or maybe Mikerella? Yeah, a female Mettaur would be more interesting. She'd have the standard old pickaxe to do her dirty work, and that iconic hardhat shell (like Mr. Weavel mentioned a while back.) She'd at first be interested in only continuing her objective: hitting the ruin's wall or a pile of rocks with her pickaxe (digging the ruin, maybe? but, after some coaxing, they get her out of the ruin and clean all that dirt off of her. After that, she warms right up to Aero and the bunch. Dashe: A Mettaur with goggles is like ridiculously cute.
