Yeesss, an update! Never mind the fact that it's a LTD! update. This is awesome. I'm going to go play it now.

Bah! You mean after 2 years, I now have to defend my old high score? This is an injustice! ...but I suppose if we get a "high-resolution" version...I guess it's alright...so long as the game still plays the game.

I want to thank Malt (even though he is mysteriously absent here in this thread) for being the first to submit a score, The Jorsh for being the only other person to submit a score in the first 24 hours of the game's re-debut, and SuperDanny for being the first and only one to post a Hard Mode score thus far! You guys rock! Musashi, ravenf6 and Blues, where are you guys? More importantly where are Chiz, the previous defending champion's scores? Green is excused, and I'm sorry it's not working on your system. I don't know enough about those kind of things one way or another to figure out why or what to do about it. Specific comments: Musashi: the wider screen actually makes the game a bit easier, so for those who thought it was too hard it should be better, and for those who already thought it was too easy, they get Hard Mode. The Jorsh: Ask the Bonnes was the idea of Shelldragon, a former LTD staffer who worked on the site when it first opened and never again afterward. I really should have removed that link long ago, but it makes little difference now, as LTD will be closing down (as stated on the recent Main Gate update).

I hardly think my absence to be mysterious these days, but I do owe a couple of words here, don’t I? o.O *ponders* I have to admit, I can’t really tell the difference between this version and the last as far as the graphical quality, audio, and so on. It’s been too long since the last time I’ve played, I guess. However, I commend you and Blyka heartily for the variable screen sizes, the added difficulty level, and the integrated score submission feature. The integrated score submission feature especially. It does so simplify the task of proving one’s superiority. And I’m sure I’ve just provoked a dozen or so people into handing my figurative butt to me on a platter, but whot eva. Seriously though, bravo for the additions. I have enjoyed them much. As to the LTD site closing down, it’s unfortunate, but I suppose it’s true that it never really went very far. Will the LTD game and the online score tables be hosted elsewhere after the sub-site closes? Either way, I’m curious to see what you’ll replace it with. (And what’s going to be going into those unfilled Main Gate slots, for that matter... Haven’t looked around that place in ages.) Anyway, as for other notes regarding the game: - Most of the time I’ve invested into playing this game thus far has been spent dying on the lightning level. Thankfully, slow as I may be, I’ve since been able to find the loophole in the system for getting through the course unscathed. So bite me, Zeus. *shakes fist towards heavens* - I haven’t been unfortunate enough so far to find out how much damage Glyde’s green death ray does, but I expect it isn’t pleasant. - I haven’t figured out exactly how the level-end score bonuses work yet (since I seem to get a varying amount of points on different plays through), but I should probably start paying attention to what I do when I get the larger ones. - And, I shall try playing through hard mode when I’ve got more time to spare.

Well, I meant to play it, but then I had to do other things and they took all my time away. Now that I have the time, though, I'll download it and see how it is.

Hmmm...either I've gotten rusty, or all the old patterns don't work anymore. fAB, you've changed the game subtly, haven't you? >=( I've submitted a mediocre score of 70k or there abouts...I was hoping to squeeze in more practice before doing a serious run, but if a score of mine is DESPERATELY needed... EDIT: I keep dying on the lightning round or the vertical one...coincidentally, those were the tough ones from my original runs back in 2006 =\

Just finished my first round of playing it. It's still as awesome as ever, fab. Managed to get to either to the lightining level, it's tough. Does anyone have any tips for that one? Also, the last time I visited the scoreboard once I finished playing today, it said I was banned, for some reason. Could you please find out what the problem was, fab?

Everyone, many thanks for the comments, compliments and score submissions! I enjoy receiving all three. Keep em' coming! ;D It seems everyone, in the past and present, has had difficulties with Frightening Lightening. Surprisingly enough I don’t usually have much trouble with this one, so I’ll share my vast wisdom with everyone so that they can easily avoid Zeus’s wrath... ... ... Actually I lied. There is no vast wisdom. Just study the lightning and you’ll soon know all there is to know about it. You’ll then be able to fly through it with your eyes closed. *watches Draches flying off screen before the lightning can touch them* On second thought... no you won’t. But you won’t have much trouble with your eyes open. @chiz: Coincidentally, the volcano always seems to give me the most trouble as well. Keep at it though; I’m looking forward to your Hard Mode score. (Hard Mode was your suggestion after all) Blues: The server log says you tried to duplicate your score, which resulted in an auto-ban. You should be unbanned now.

I hardly think my absence to be mysterious these days, but I do owe a couple of words here, don’t I? o.O Well I did say "here in this thread," as opposed to the forums in general, and seeing as you were the first to submit a score, I'd say I wasn't out of line in expecting to see a post from you... Then again, it didn't occur to me that you might have been one of the minority who actually discovered the updated game through The Main Gate rather than this thread. Yes, no? Will the LTD game and the online score tables be hosted elsewhere after the sub-site closes? Rest assured, even if the the entire Main Gate were to close down (no, I'm not planning any such thing), this game is here to stay. Thanks much for your thorough review and commentary. That's the stuff we like to see around here! Well, I meant to play it, but then I had to do other things and they took all my time away. Now that I have the time, though, I'll download it and see how it is. All right, I see your scores on there now so all is forgiven! Hmmm...either I've gotten rusty, or all the old patterns don't work anymore. fAB, you've changed the game subtly, haven't you? >=( Nope, you must just be rusty. Enemy position hasn't changed at all on Normal Mode. Hard Mode on the other hand, prepare for some changes. o.o *takes note of the fAB* I was hoping to squeeze in more practice before doing a serious run, but if a score of mine is DESPERATELY needed... I'm sure you can imagine it's a little disheartening to work on something like this, have people play or say they're going to play it and then less than half of them submit a score. You start wondering why, and there could be so many reasons why, but you dwell on the worst of them and... anyway, thank you for submitting!

OMFG! A Blyka post! It's an omen from Elysium! Coincidentally, the volcano always seems to give me the most trouble as well. Keep at it though; I’m looking forward to your Hard Mode score. (Hard Mode was your suggestion after all) Yes, well, had you two delivered the hard mode 2-3 years ago...there wouldn't BE this problem As it is, I had to start from scratch... Rest assured, even if the the entire Main Gate were to close down (no, I'm not planning any such thing), this game is here to stay. I would think so! Were you to something of the sort (you can't - once something's on the internetz, it's always on the internetz) there would probably be a revolt...mob of torch and pitchfork-armed Legends fans...and understandably, your rep would be shot..."Oh, that guy only KILLED THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL LEGENDS FAN GAME EVER." Nope, you must just be rusty. Enemy position hasn't changed at all on Normal Mode. Hard Mode on the other hand, prepare for some changes. o.o *takes note of the fAB* I still say you're hiding something... I was hoping to squeeze in more practice before doing a serious run, but if a score of mine is DESPERATELY needed... I'm sure you can imagine it's a little disheartening to work on something like this, have people play or say they're going to play it and then less than half of them submit a score. You start wondering why, and there could be so many reasons why, but you dwell on the worst of them and... anyway, thank you for submitting! Well, I think half of it now is that there's a minimum bar...and it's rising...all 10 slots have been filled, and you now can't submit a score under, uh...I think 13k now...and that's sure to rise once I start hammering the scoreboards with my horrid "The lightning killed me! Bah!" scores of between 60-80k... I STILL haven't completely gotten used to quickly sweeping up and down as to nail all the floating mines...it's so easy to just slide right off the screen EDIT: Oh, and BTW...I've lost all ability to use the HS charts...got this error: PHP warning at line 102 of common.php mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Unknown MySQL server host 'fabofmmls.powwebmysql.com' (1)
EDIT 2: New Needed features for 2.1 (3.0?) - True 640x480 support; this is standard for even GameMaker games, so I don't see why it couldn't be managed.
- Volume control; the midis are, compared to CDs/internet radio/other games incl. Flash stuff, horribly loud. Perhaps if the volume level was adjustable (and truly adjustable, not just "Off, Low, Med, High, Ow"), this wouldn't be a problem.
- Save feature; it would be nice if, if you're in the middle of a good run, to save. However, since I would imagine it would be easy to abuse this feature, it's not *that* necessary
- Moar cowbell; There's a distinct lack of cowbell in this game, at least from what I've seen.
- Local high-score charts; it would be nice if there was a local high score chart a la v1.0, in conjunction with a web-based score that we have now in 2.0.
- Powerups; ranging from a limited time hyperlaser to slow-mo to transforming the drache into a giant flying Bonne mech that could take down even the thickest of minefields and enemy squadrons
- 3D Graphics; again, just 'cause
- Voice acting: It'd be cool if all of the mission updates/summaries were read out by a Kobun, or by various Kobun throughout the game.
- 483MiB worth of DRM that you can add, then subsequently remove to claim that you're getting with the times and realize that DRM-free is the way to go. It'll really help with your public rep and share prices.
- Handheld version, perhaps for the GBA, NDS, or PSP.
- Themed merchandise, incl. plushies, t-shirts, coffee mugs, official soundtrack, and cheap bumper stickers w/ occasionally witty and almost always painfully bad sayings "My other car's a Drache.", "I stop for Servbots", and "Honk if you loathe Loathe"
3DIT: Alright, on a fluke run on Hard, I got the new high-score of 128k points, approximately, 10k more than SuperDanny's. Have fun, folks

Blyka: I think I've found a trick. Now, it's those enemies later in the stage that mess me up.... Hm, that's odd, all I did was refresh to make sure that my score was there. Thanks, Blyka! And only because Eric Chiz said something: Oh look, Blyka posted. Been two or three years since his last one... @eric Chiz: Y'know, I bet It'd be pretty easy to make one of those. I'd put one of those on my car.

An excellent use of gamemaker and existing midi tunes of MML! I was playing it for hours, though my score was so pathethic i just didn't submit it. I would love to see this in Multimedia fusion, it would allow excellent preview cutscenes, dialogue and better music quality.

On my word, Blyka hath posted! Now I feel bad for calling those seers so many names. The volcano level is definitely more of a pain for me than the lightening level. At least in Frightening Lightening you have room to maneuver... The cannon shots and the mines get extremely painful to bypass in those confined spaces. And firing like a madman doesn’t help nearly as much as it does in the other levels, rendering my button-mashing skills useless. However, I think I’ve just about figured out how those level-end score bonuses work, which should be useful when I begin trying for a high score in hard mode. Ah, I didn't really mean anything by that. I suppose with my declining posting around here, it was just strange to think that my absence anywhere was considered odd. But yes, I did find out about the game through the forums. I also did intend to respond; I just tend to take my sweet time with responding to people these days... Not a good habit. Ditto that. That seems to be the cause of most of my deaths recently... Not so bad as trying to control the horizontal movement, though... Once you start moving, you can't seem to stop. o.o Anyway, I like most of Chiz’s suggestions for possible features to build into future versions, should they be made. Particularly the local high-score chart... being able to keep track of your own high scores is always nice. Only being able to record your score if you make it to the top 10 on the internet score charts could get somewhat discouraging, especially as the minimum score begins to rise. Don’t think I’d agree with the 3-D graphics or the voice acting, though. I personally don’t think it’d make that much of a difference in the overall experience, and would probably make the download package much larger. The increased music quality and cutscenes that Mir@c suggested sound pretty good, though. Handheld versions might be nice, though I’ll be honest, I probably wouldn’t play it on a handheld. Having in on PC is enough for me. Also: I move for an unreasonably inflated marketing budget to support this endeavor immediately!
