As you should know, one of the sections of The Main Gate is the site called Halcyon Days. In this thread you can discuss anything specifically pertaining to Halcyon Days, be it enthusiasm, distaste, suggestions, or errors. We'd like to hear from you!
[ This was for the choose your own adventure story, which is now dead. ]

Wow, I suspected you were doing something big during the last few weeks without updates, but I never expected something THIS big! I immediately recognized "Halcyon Days" from the Japanese DASH game cover, but never realized it part of an acronym... Anyway, it looks to have a nice, original aspect, but I can still feel the Legends influence. I've only played through one side of the story so far (without losing, oh yeah ;D), but it seems like you can go in some pretty different directions. Very cool. The writing is excellent and very entertaining, the character we've been introduced to is a great fit to the Legends Universe (and isn't annoying or unlikeable )... What else can I say? Can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work, guys!

I never new DASH was an acronym. I thought DASH means Legends in Japanese, but that would be silly now wouldn't it? Cool site fab ;D.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to do one of those open-ended stories online before (or maybe it's just me). Halcyon Days is very well-written, almost to the extent that it could pass as an actual part of the Legends series that no one's ever heard of (until now). Great job and keep up the good work! ^-^

Yes, I was wondering where you found that word, because I definitely wasn't taught that one in school. Pitty really, I could have used it once or twice, but my substitutes were good enough... I suppose. Good job, I'll have to give it a more thorough look soon, but an ambitious undertaking non-the-less.

Always good to hear from more people who have enjoyed Halcyon Days for what it is so far. I'm sure everyone's got to be wondering, what's up with the site? Why hasn't anything been added to it since it was first launched?
Well, the answer is simple, and it's the same thing which has happened that makes The Main Gate such a dudly place; It was a grand vision, one that requires time and energy that I don't have, but that others could bring in and help on. The Main Gate is meant to be a collection of small Legends-based sites, each with their own focus, and each with their own set of staff members. All of the offers of help on Legends Station I got from people, lead me to believe that there were a great many people interested in being a part of a Legends site, and The Main Gate would make that possible. However, since then, I've learned otherwise. The one person who signed on for the Halcyon Days team slowly vanished, and the project has sat untouched for months... I have Legends Station to look after, The Main Gate is supposed to rely on others, but no one comes forth.
A shame, because there's so much potential being wasted... Of course, Alternate Trigger stands on its own, and Launch the Draches! is coming, just slowly.

MegIvan here. I'll always be waiting for new stff on the Main Gate. Halcyon days is very cool. I think that "Interactive story" would fit that better because you actually control the events of that story.

I just have to read that to love it. Any choose-your-own-adventure story is worth it in my book. That's one of the reasons I love many of the video games that I love. I like seeing how things progress based on what you would do, as contrary to an entirely preset story where you progress simply by completing tasks (Spyro comes to mind…). It's as close to actually experiencing the story as you can get. Having options also adds to the value of the game play, and seeing the same story from different perspectives adds to the depth of the plot and characters. You can apply this concept to almost any game/story for a significant improvement. Since this is a legends forum, take that game for example. I for one would have thoroughly enjoyed being able to play through the story from the Bonne's perspective. The more characters the better.
Bottom line, excellent idea, and my compliments.
PharaohManXe54: I've tried those Goosebumps things before. Pretty good, although the various outcomes don't exactly run parallel to each other, something that I feel somewhat robs the overall feel of the story. Good either way. As for that other Halcyon Days site, I wouldn't expect a sub-site to be able to match the popularity of a full-blown web site. Not yet anyway. But maybe one day, some time in the future, we'll be up there at the top of this list that you speak of… If not, we'll just buy them out and convert their site, or something…

Halycon Days is so cool. I'm amazed that you had the patience to write it all! There must have been a lot of hard work put into it, but I'm sure it must've been worth it. It certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. One thing, though...a possible mistake: "For awhile it seems they are lost at sea, which hardly surprises Yohmi considering how far the waves could have carried the air ship and boat while he was helping her out. Fortunately they come within a close enough radius to Trinban and from there Yahki can use his equipment to signal in on the island and take them to safety." I'm assuming that you mean "Yohmi", or did I missed something?

Oh drat, missed a Yahki! XP Yeah, it's supposed to be Yohmi. Yahki was originally his name, very temporarily as I started writing the story without having given him a name yet. Thought I'd taken care of them all, but I guessed I missed that one.
Wow, people still discovering/reading Halcyon Days after all this time... I never managed to find anyone with enough skill, desire and dedication to help me continue it, so it's been sitting there for years. I could continue it solo I suppose, but that defeats its purpose and makes it "just a fan fic." Of course when the alternative seems to be the eventual removal from The Main Gate... *shrugs*
