I wouldn't doubt it. Fox gives McFarlane more sway than he knows what to do with. He knows full well lots of people are annoyed with his cartoons' lowbrow sense of humor, but far, far more people eat it up and demand more. As long as he gets the ratings, Fox will keep giving him wheelbarrows full of cash to make ridiculous unnecessary sequences in terrible projects and outright insult his audience for buying into it. I'd just try to ignore it, since nothing can stop it.

All I'm going to say is Yabba Dabba DON'T WANT, but it was inevitable it might be an okay show but I have doubts.

Good news--he wants to keep the visual style the same as the Hanna Barbera version, so unless the execs interfere and make him put it in Family Guy style, at least it'll look okay. It wouldn't make up for his sense of humor, though.
Admittedly, I'm not sure whether I'd rather have this happen, or have the Flintstones remade into a live action/CG hybrid like the Smurfs and Yogi Bear. Both seem like train wrecks waiting to happen.

The Flintstones looking like Family Guy?
NO.

I enjoy myself some Family Guy, it's a funy show, but I'd rather not have the Flintstone being foulmouthed and referencing actors and movies like they do on Family Guy. It is Seth Macfarlane though, so we are with no doubt, going to have profane Flintstones. We can really only hope it's funny.

Seth McFarlene rebooting The Flintstones? Given what he's doing with Family Guy and its ilk, my reaction goes along the lines of Porky Pig: I'm s-s-s-s-s-simply furious! Granted, he may have worked with Hannah Barbara, but I don't like the idea that he would turn it into the racy, superflously lowbrow dribble he's churned out. "And what may I ask do you think you're doing?" is something I would like very much to ask the fool McFarlane. For now, I'll pass...

I've got some hopes, the only think I hope that doesn't happen is that it goes overboard with the references (which in the Flintstones means they have to add some type of rock into the name).
I mean, it'll happen. It happened in the original, but I could see them over doing things like that and the animal gags.
I dunno, I'm cautiously optimistic.

On one hand, I am interested in The Flintstones beings rebooted; as it was one of my favourite cartoons.
OTOH, the fact that it would be rebooted by Seth McFarlane made me feel :/

@steffie: It's news like this that makes me glad I picked up the 1st 3 seasons when I did, years ago. At $3 a piece... I'll have to consider hunting down the last three...

I have tried so many times to give those Family Guy & American Dad cartoons a chance, but they drive me crazy! Pointless, idiotic humor and humor to appeal to nostalgia so you get emotionally involved. He will ruin Flintstones.

Been DoneIn all seriousness, I'm afraid. The Flintstones was a good, clean, family-friendly, animated sitcom. Looking at Seth's past work, this would most surely NOT be something you could sit your kids down and watch together.

After watching Family Guy and American Dad, I am really sure he is not appropriate for the job.
I'd rather have Matt Groening do it instead of Seth McFarlane. (Though there are others that are even better suited for the job.)

I wanted to stay out of this but...Guess i can't.
I'm tired of all these 'reboot's, some where dearly needed, some weren't/aren't
I love the idea of a reanimation of the flinstones but for cryin' out loud...NO! why...."Meet the flinstones........and have a gay ole time" - part of their opening animation's song Gay back in the day meant 'fun/happy/enjoyable/etc' but now is means something nasty...that McFarlane would make horrid.
McFarlane Flinstones? More like McFartbrain Flinstones.
But we really can't say much...if the world wants it, it'll happen, sadly.

I actually like the Pink Panther and Garfield reboots. Looking forward to seeing the Looney Tunes reboot. (I know it's on the air I already, but I haven't had the time to watch it yet.)
