Figured the topic would come up sooner or later, so I decided to take the liberty.
All of this is a simple overview from me. I haven't looked a whole lot up on the matter.
(and you don't have to look at every cheesy picture link if you don't wanna. They're pretty big. :23: )
Generation V of pokémon introduces an online toy for all of us (or at least the ones that have wifi) to play with: The Pokémon Dream World.
Every user gets their own little space for their pokémon to go to each time they tuck in their pokémon. After tucking in the pokémon, (through the usage of Game Sync on the C-gear) the player then goes to the Pokémon Global Link and clicks on the blue Pokémon Dream World icon to begin the dream session. Each session lasts for up to one hour, and you can only have one session every 24 hours. The method to unlock more items/areas/etc. are Dream Points, which can be considered the same as Watts from the Pokéwalker.
After accumulating several berries (of varying types, depending on the furniture) you can purchase items to brighten up your house. The catalog is around 12-13 pages long and it seems that they're planning on adding much more later on. Better start saving up on berries as soon as you can...
Speaking of berries, you also get your own garden. (That garden isn't mine.) You start off with just two garden rows, but the more Dream Points you accumulate, the more rows you'll unlock. Just like in previous generations, you can plant the berries you find throughout the Dream World here so you cantotally pimp out your house save them, or send them to your main game.
What's a Dream World without neighbors? You can visit random users' houses by using the Dream Map. Besides snooping on their house, (and their last tucked in pokémon) you can also swap items they offer at their Sharing Shelf in exchange for any item of your own. In addition, you can also water their garden for additional Dream Points, because it's a nice thing to do.
As we all know, the majority of pokémon can appear in the dream world in the Island of Dreams, a place your own pokémon can explore after crossing the Rainbow Bridge. All of the pokémon found in this forest are equipped with their Dream World Ability, which is what makes them desirable to befriend. In order to befriend one, an activity has to be performed such as Air Racing, Hide and Seek, Ice Cream Stacking, and Playing With Wailord. (some pics not available yet. :17: )
In addition to befriending the pokémon, each successful game played earns Dream Points.
After traveling 10 "paces", you'll come always come across the Tree of Dreams. From here, you can step up to the tree to place a berry and make a "wish". The wish allows you to bring a pokémon you befriended earlier into the real world.
After waking the tucked in pokémon up, it reappears in its box, and the 24 hour wait can then begin until your next visit.
And- that's all I got. I'm still pretty new to the matter, but it's something completely different that I'm beginning to get attached to. I'm still unsure how Friend Mechanics would work in the Dream World, in fact, I'm unsure about several things, but discussion on the matter is open. :22:
So far I've sent over a male Ponyta with Flame Body (not that special) and a female Lickitung with Cloud Nine (could be pretty darn useful). Hidden abilities can apparently be passed on through breeding, but only via female. I guess that's better than no passing at all.
Anyway, I'm so sending Butterfree in next.
Okay Butterfree doesn't look as awesome as I'd hoped, but I won't let it bother me. :21:
