Alright, I'd write out a big long post about when I first got it Sunday morning, how great this thing is, how awesome the AR games are, how cool the 3D is, etc. But I'm short on time at the moment, and I'm not in the great-wall-o'-text writing mood right now, so lets cut to the chase.
I want your friend codes. (instead of one for every game, it's just one for each system)
Mine is 0688-5254-2053. I look forward to playing games with all of you once I get some decent games for this thing.

I could go into a long-winded ramble about how much I love this thing already even though I haven't bought any games yet. But I already wrote up a pretty big list of likes and dislikes on my blag, so you can check that for my thoughts. For the moment I'm mostly just using mine as a replacement for my DS which broke in September. It's pretty great to have my own DS to use again, instead of having to steal my brother's, but I do have some problems with it. When you play regular DS games in stretched mode, everything looks pretty ugly. For certain games it does, anyway; it's not so bad in others. But they could've used some filters or something to keep things looking smooth. It would've been a nice touch if they'd given you options. And when you play in native resolution, the screen size is actually very small. It feels like playing on a Gameboy Color screen! Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself! If that's not the same size, it must be very close... x.x (Imagine if they'd included a GBA slot: playing those games at native-resolution would be hilarious — nevermind GBC games!) But anyway, my friend code? Yes, I suppose you can have that... | Pitch 4811-6943-3865 |

Dang it is the same size as the GBC! I hear that there is an online download feature that they are supposed to implement at a later date so that should be fun.

I'll get a 3DS eventually and edit this post to show the friend code. I saw a demonstration from a Game Stop employee and it really did look awesome, minus all of the flaws with the early generation DS games. Plus, it'll make me feel 1 step closer to Legends 3! * Still believes the Mii should've stayed on the Wii*
Two and a half months later and I have a 3DS. My friend code: 0001-3406-4968

Added you, Pitch. Also, here's this, if anyone wants it for some reason. It's stretched out weird because I had to make it bigger for my Facebook profile picture.

The 3DS has consumed me enough for the last three days to make me pretty much absent from the internet. Now that I've emerged from my hole with Pilotwings well and thoroughly burned through, yes I am ready for doing some new stuff with it, like trading friend codes, which I didn't even figure out was a thing until you mentioned it. Now let's see if I can find the thing. There we go.

It's probably not a good sign that the 3DS freezes up after I enter Jorsh's code, is it? It did this when I was transferring the Mii's from our Wii onto it too. Seems like something wrong with my wi-fi. Edit: After rebooting the system and trying again, it worked. I don't know what the problem was, but the keyboard just didn't come up when it said to enter a name, and it was stuck like that.

I been satisfied with my 3DS so far and I been working on my DS games as well as playing the 2 3DS games I got along.
My friend code is 0301 - 9796 - 4029. However, I have no definitive access to Wi-Fi until the beginning of May so registering you guys might take a while.

Raijin I've had it freeze up on me too, while I was right in the middle of a game. :07: I'm hoping it was just a one-time hiccup. Nightshade That's cool. At the moment I don't think there's any real purpose to registering friends, apart from being able to spy on them at random points throughout the day and see if they're playing anything. It may be used in some games too, but I don't think it's used in anything I've seen thus far. Maybe by May, they'll have something cool to use with that. I hear that's when the Web Browser update is supposed to come too -- although I'm not 100% sure about that one. Well, I have no self-control. I meant to wait for a good deal or to save up some more money before I went out and bought any games, but I just went ahead and bought Pilotwings today. :07: That's gonna set me back now. I'm not gonna be buying any more games for a long time to come, I think. But that's fine; between this and the games I've been waiting to play, I think I should be OK for a while. I'm digging Pilotwings, too. I've only just started getting into it, but I've got to say it's a pretty phun idea. A flight sim’ really is a great way to demonstrate the 3D capabilities of this thing. It's probably gonna eat up a lot of my time. Anyway, if I'm not around for a while, you know where I am.

Haha, my enthusiasm for Pilotwings has rubbed off already. I don't think you have to worry too much about it eating up your time though. The game is relatively short if you're just going through to clear missions and fly around the island. Going for perfect scores is where it can get really intense though. I tend to be a completionist when it comes to that, but I'll probably give up on that soon seeing how stringent the scoring gets in the higher classes.
As for things we can do with the friend list right now, I just found a feature in the Mii Maker that looks like we can connect and exchange Miis, so that's something at least.

What a bout the so-called 'sweet spot' for 3D? Does the effect not work if you are not directly in front of it?

Well Loken, When it comes to 3D graphics without glasses, it works kind of like those eye-slider thingies do. You have to be looking at it a certain way to see the 3D effect to its fullest. I'm sure if you were looking over someone's shoulder as they were playing the 3DS you wouldn't see much of anything in the way of 3D; your placement has to be precise. That kind of thing.

I'm sure if you were looking over someone's shoulder as they were playing the 3DS you wouldn't see much of anything in the way of 3D; your placement has to be precise. That kind of thing. This is for the most part, completely 100% true. Over-the-shoulder viewing on 3DS isn't going to work very well. The effect of glasses-free 3D is kind of like those little double-image hologram dealies you saw all the time in the nineties, where if you held it at a certain angle you'd see one image, and if you held it a different way you'd see another. Except this is trying to get your eyes to pick up on both, simultaneously. So, when you're out of the sweet-spot, there is some distortion, and the images kind of overlap, and it's rather hard to tell what's going on. (feels like looking at it cross-eyed sometimes) It's kind of annoying at times -- like in a moving vehicle. (Do NOT attempt to use the 3D feature while in a moving vehicle.) For a portable system, having to hold the thing at exactly the right angle, at exactly the right distance from your face really cuts down on the ease of use, if you want to take the thing out with you somewhere. It works great when you're sitting at home, and you can comfortably keep the thing held properly though. And thankfully there's that slider you can use to adjust the 3D effect, or turn it off altogether.

The "sweet spot" is bigger than I expected, actually. There's room to move it forward, back, and side-to-side without compromising the effect. Sometimes I instinctively move the screen closer to my face when I'm doing something I want to pay close attention to, but at a certain point I start to see double, and that's my cue to pull out a bit. Any other out-of-bounds viewing is pretty much beyond the point where it's practical to even play the device.
Shaking around in a moving vehicle is bad for it, but then I find that's true for ANY handheld, especially with any action-oriented game where timing and precision are called for.

Good to know. I will, eventually, get a 3DS for Legends and I was wondering how bad that sweet spot was. It does sound quite as bad as I had heard, but I think I will probably still play it in 2D

Just figured out how to use the SD card today (I was actually surprised to learn my computer already had a slot for it), so may as well follow Jorsh and Pitch and post my own Mii/QC code. I actually like the way Miis work in the games that feature them. Seeing characters representing friends and family just randomly pop up during gameplay brings a smile to my face. It's too bad I don't have much use for them on the 3DS right now though. With Pilotwings, there are only a couple times where a Mii besides your save file's chosen pilot gets to show up. It would have been nice if they could seed Miis around the island walking around or piloting their own vehicles so I could fly past them during play, but instead the closest I get are the collectible Mii statues in Rocket Belt Free Flight, which isn't quite the same. It would be nice to be able to transfer 3DS Miis to the Wii so I could have them show up in games like WiiFit, but thanks to minor changes in the 3DS Mii structure, you can only send them from the Wii to the 3DS, not vice versa. Oh well.
