Are you still trying to find a system for titles, or have you dropped giving out new ones?

*cough*Let's put post count back on*cough* Supposedly they were going to be given out for winning Forum stuff(I think they had things like the Caption Contest in mind). Personally I'd like to have Changing titles back. “Station Member” is just so boring.. Personally I think shutting post count off was just stupid. ×D I don't really think it solved any supposed problems. But that's just me.

Heh, if titles were still based on post count, you'd have had one by now, I think.

Well, yeah, of course. It only took like four hundred posts. XD When I canned my Pitch account I had one thousand four hundred(and ten, iirc) posts.
But seriously, I do think Post Count should come back. XD I never really thought many people were just posting to increase their own counts; I think the whole turning it off thing was addressing an issue that didn't really exist in the first place.. (I know what you're thinking, but seriously.. I tried to make every one of my many many posts legitimate, and I think I did.)

"Station Member" is just so boring.. Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Being just a Station Member is kinda boring. Custom titles and such would make things more fun, such as, for example, "Ultimate Yuna Fan" for Green, or "Moldy Cookie Collector" for Blues (It was Blues right? I kinda forgot).

But it's not just that, man. There were Reaverbot names for titles as you went along. Started at Miroc ended at Wajigairon(I think that's spelled wrong; I was the first to get it ;D). Those were fun. >.<;

Yeah, I'd really like to see the return of custom titles,m or even the reaverbot ones!
Rockman: Yeah, that was me.

Actually, I think I'm going to do that. Post count was fun. I almost made 1,000...fab canned it while I had 987, which was a nice number all the same.

...I just looked through the old discussion thread where the post count removal was being considered, just to refresh my memory. Whether or not it was a stupid idea is all opinion I suppose, but at the time the majority of the active forum members were in agreement with me or at least indifferent on the matter.
I think it'll kind of suck to have it back, considering we did have reasons for removing it, and also it won't reflect the big picture, as some of the most frequent posters of the old days, BM1-3 for example, who used to have over 600, will look like a newbie since he only posts once every few months these days (I did save a list of post counts somewhere, which could be restored, but that still wouldn't account for everything in the time between). Oh well, it's not my worry anymore. The majority decided it gone, the majority can bring it back if they like.
I still think it's nicer without it, but if it's the only apparent way to revive the reaverbot names and earn custom titles (the lack of which, unlike the post count removal, has been admittedly and entirely my fault and I apologize for never following through with plans in that area), then I guess I'll have to give it my half-hearted vote.

I don't know, all I really want are the titles back. If we need post count back for it, then okay. However, if you can find a way to do it without post count, then that's okay with me too. Of course, that's only my opinion; I don't know about everyone else...

I don't think it was a stupid idea, just.. kinda pointless. lol. At the time, I had been posting like crazy and I didn't want to give the impression that the actual Post Count meant anything to me. I don't really care about the number. I thought it was a fine idea at the time, just kinda.. now that it's in effect(and has been for some time) I don't think it really DID anything(actually, I think it had a negative effect on the boards myself, but I've decided not to talk about that any more ). This is one of the problems I've had with it being effective now. I can never tell with all these people shuffling in and out of the place, who's been here for a while or who's posting for the first time without looking at the profile. >.<

Actually, the only thing that I really want are custom titles. I don't care for post counts. Heck, it would be pretty useful too to find what each person's title is. With custom titles, it'll be easier to find who's the "Moldy Cookie Collector" or who's "T3h rand0m kween".

I don't really think we need the post count back, but of course that's just my opinion, if more people want it back then go for it. The way I think of it, if the number doesn't matter, I don't see why it would add anything to the forums again. For me, it just showed how active people were by just looking at their profile (by how high the number was), but if I actually read all of the threads by visiting the forums regularly, I could tell who was active even without the post count, because I would just...uh....remember seeing them around various threads.
My only other complaint with it is kind of what fab said, for people who don't post that often, it makes us seem like we're the new posters. For example, a new person can join and rack up a few hundred posts in lets say, a few months, and compare that to an older member who won't even post half as much during that time. It makes the new member seem like they've been here a long time, where it makes the actual old member seem like they haven't been here as long...eh...maybe that doesn't make sense to anyone other than me xD Anyway, the point that I was trying to get across is that post counts won't really tell us who has been here for a while because people post at different....rates.
Oh, and I'm all for custom/system titles, nothing wrong with that. xP
I just noticed that it looks like the post count has been put back on already, so I guess more people were in favour of it.

Turning it back on does present a dilemma I suppose.. If post counts could be restored to what they were before the turn off, it would be relatively easy to restore people to where they were. Using Search, you could find All of a users posts[sans MJ/FG] between now and then, if that's even necessary. Most of our no longer very active members who still had post counts in the hundreds have still remained relatively inactive between when Post Count went away and Now; restoring the count to whatever it was before would reflect well enough who's been here longer than whom(or however you'd like to put it); then Search could be used for those who don't have a logged Post Count. I can only assume that might take a while to do, but it can't be much harder than turning off Post Count and setting everything to Zero was.. But.. if it's not necessary for Custom Titles — I noticed several people have them already, myself included — I guess it doesn't need to be back on. I still don't think it was doing anything GOOD while it was off, though..

Well, I put the post count back because post count is necessary to bring back the Reaverbot names/eye symbols, which were awesome. At least, I thought they were awesome. Getting rid of post count (and putting it back) is a lot harder than it sounds. I had to get fab to do it because it's supposedly coded into the forum skins, but it was the only way to bring back the reaverbot rankings that I know of firsthand.
