Oh snap-crackle-pop, it's Benjy!!! 0.o Okay. Gyro is a Pokemon move? Must be one of them new Generation moves... But yeah, I don't see why they'd need to westernize something so trivial, when all it takes is a quick google search to find out what a takoyaki is nowadays.

Yep.

How that plays into the plot is what I'm wondering, maybe it has something to do with a significant part of Aero's past, or something. Pseudo-Octopus hair.

Eh, replacing tayoyaki with something similar isn't really isn't a big deal; if it'll serve the same purpose, then it shouldn't matter whether or not it's replaced. Now it'd be much more worrying if Capcom was changing plot points or characterization- that would be worth speaking out against.

Thing is, none of us (and though improbable, not even the designers) have any idea whether it really is trivial at the point the games are first released.

Except that if I remember correctly, the Takoyaki was referred to as being a "major recurring item" or something that would actually have an affect on the plot in some way.

@ HF, Benjamin: Hmm, so according to my re-reading of this post: For some reason (simple misunderstanding perhaps?), I was under the impression that it was Aero's love of the food or the fact that the reference could be to any similar food that was the important part of the sentence, but according to the structure of the sentence it is indeed the tayoyaki that's important to the reference. 0_o My bad, then, guys- sorry about that. Well hopefully the MML3 developers would make the tayoyaki reference general enough so that they could substitute the foods they want to substitute in there with no problems to the story- they've proven themselves pretty contempt in regards to all their decisions so far, and I have faith they're making the correct decision here too.

Heck, I would just say "We want Megaman to have more fancy healing items besides the Energy Canteen, Fried Chicken, and Picnic Lunch that don't have to be obtained from hidden NPC's or by cheating on quizzes!" But that's just me. lool, did someone really mention Gyro Ball the Pokemon move up there?

In hopes that the localization changes in the EXE Series and Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney Series) are something to ignore... On the other hand, their resident big eaters all look as if they would eat anything, so it's not as unjustified as it looks.

Well, those were separate teams. The MML3 team was specially chosen by Inafune/volunteered this time around instead of being one of Capcom's regular dev teams, so that lends more credibility to these guys, hm?

Alright:
From personal experience, Takoyaki has successfully lasted for 4 days in the fridge without spoiling.
Then again, considering that I have seen big packs of them in the supermarket in Osaka... hm.
