Mega Man Legends 2 was released in North America on October 24, 2000. Today is August 2, 2010. In about three months, we'll have officially hit the ten-year mark. To put things into perspective a bit, In North America, it was roughly ten years from the time Earthbound was released on the SNES to the time that Mother 3 was released in Japan. (Technically speaking, it was slightly longer for the Japanese fans, since they had the game before we did). With Gunstar Heroes, there was almost exactly an eleven-year hiatus between the release of both games. Mega Man 8 and Mega Man 9 had an eleven-year gap between releases as well. Thankfully, the gap between the latest two Indiana Jones movies still has almost ten additional years on us, or we'd all look and sound absolutely ridiculous every time Capcom announces a new game. :22: So hey, look on the bright side! If Capcom keeps us hanging like this, we might just wind up going down in gaming history as Those Guys (and Dashe) who Waited Longer Than Anybody Else for Their Series to Continue! I mean, hopefully it won't come down to that...but at least there is a bright side, right? Sort of?

This totally made my day. I mean, at least we aren't a running joke like Duke Nukem Forever became, but, who knows, maybe once (if) they announce development, it'll turn out like that, making us the most tortured fanbase ever. Let's go for gold guys!

Tiiiiny correction for Miss Dashe: MegaMan and Bass was the last series installment in classic MegaMan before MegaMan 9, so it's only roughly ten years for that series. (unless you meant only here in the states, in which case, it was six years between MegaMan 8 and MegaMan and Bass (for GBA) and another five years between that and MegaMan 9)
I've been thinking about this since new years. I was thinking of making a topic, but I was going to wait 'til the actual ten year anniversary. I'd say that the whole ten year thing means we're bound to hear something from Capcom sometime this year, but that same logic proved shaky when I was going around saying that for the 10th anniversary of the first game. (and the series as a whole) So yeah. But let's hope so anyway.

Eh, I do see a pattern, and i'm gonna be irked if the pattern proves true.
However, no matter how irked I get, i'm still gonna love whatever MM game comes out.
I will say this though: If it's Legends3, they best better allow you to not only have rep but choice of GF ending as well (which a lot of games are doing nowadays). I will be upset if it doesn't, but not crushed.

If there's a choice of girlfriend involved, I totally want to be able to pick Teisel! And dang, I forgot about Mega Man & Bass. Ah well, at least that means we're more likely to get a record for this. I propose that we have a forum-wide party on the 24th in honor of ten years of waiting. And waiting. And waaaaaaiting.

What i meant was Tron or Roll... But as far as Teisel goes, he'd be a nice party member if they add a 2-player Co-op "choose ally" mission! But even if they add all that I'll likely play it the old fashioned "Mega-likes-Roll" way.

Not to freak anyone out even more, but if this isn't Legends, then we'd have to wait at least another year for an announcement.
No biggie, we are all pros at waiting...lol
Anyways, if our wait is over and it is Legends 3, I hope INAFKING brings back all the voiceactors he can...Specifically the Bonne Family as they were fantastic.

I can certainly imagine Tisel having one of those competitive 'hate/love' relationships that often appear in movies between secondary characters with some spicy pirate lady.

Hahaha, well, I still maintain this is all worth the wait. Besides, even if this isn't the announcement, you gotta admit the request board and ComicCon were some good press.

Or are you including the SNES Rockman and Forte? That game came earlier... and then its sequel to WonderSwan.

Both, MegaTuga. It was about ten years between Rockman and Forte on the Super Famicom and MegaMan 9. (1998–2008) Between MegaMan 8 and the US release of MegaMan and Bass on GBA was about six years. (1997–2003) and between that and MegaMan 9 was about five. (2003–2008)
I didn't really think about the Wonderswan sequel. Was that even canon? I guess it would be nine years from that to MegaMan 9. (1999–2008)

I wouldn't count MM&B in the wait between MM8 and MM9. If you did, there are a lot of other lesser classic MMs you could count and no clear point to draw the line. For that matter you would also count 5 Islands Adventure and other minor Legends games breaking up the wait for MML3. Let's keep things simple and stick to officially numbered installments of the series.

Yeah, and I also don't think that re-releases should count.

I think MegaMan and Bass is an exception to the “only numbered installments” rule of thumb. The only real reason it's a more obscure release is that Capcom made that silly decision to put it back on the Super Famicom. (it's kind of impressive really, for a Super Famicom game) It's a pretty direct sequel to MegaMan 8 — in fact, isn't it somehow officially designated MegaMan 8½? The only real reason I can think not to count it is that it reused two Robot Masters. o__o
Although, I'll admit that the re-release shouldn't really count, even though it was the first any country other than Japan had seen of the game.
