If Capcom were to release Megaman Legends 3 on the Sony PSP, they could utilize the PSP's wifi capability in an interesting way. Since one of the themes of the Megaman Legends series is exploration/travel, they could include extra ruins in the game that are only unlocked if you scan one new internet access point (hotspot) for each extra ruin that you wish to play.
Perhaps they could call this "flutter mode". All you would have to do is enter flutter mode and then scan a hotspot. This would enter you into a new ruin. From then on, this ruin would be associated with the hotspot you scanned to get it (meaning that if you enter a second ruin at a second hotspot, you would have to go back to the first hotspot in order to re-enter the first ruin).
As long as you don't scan another hotspot, you can continue to play the same ruin without having to remain near the hotspot. If, for any reason, you are unable to return to a particular hotspot, you would be able to delete a ruin's association with that particular hotspot. That ruin would then appear later at a new hotspot.
You would be able to play all of the ruins using the same hotspot if you deleted your record of that hotspot after each ruin, but you would not be able to choose which ruin you got the next time you scanned the hotspot, so the only way to choose which level you play is by scanning additional hotspots.
Furthermore, downloadable content could be offered every once in a while with new ruins (these could also feature new items which could be used to make new weapons).
What do you think of the idea? Does anybody have anything to add? Does anybody have their own ideas about what MML3 would be like on psp?

I agree, downloadable content would be awesome. I say they should do something like in MM:PU and have a Roll mode, where you can download outfits for Roll. And when your in flutter mode, you can fly the flutter from Roll's perspective (Do a Barrel Roll, Roll!).

I support snake's idea greatly. It sounds interesting, and fits in very well with the Legends universe. It would encourage exploration in the real world as well as the virtual world. Hey, it could be just like Megaman Battle Network in real life! I also like Data's Flutter Mode and Roll outfit ideas, it would be cool to fly around with the flutter! Just to encourage people to do this, Capcom could put more zenny in the extra ruins, as well as exclusive items and reaverbots only found in those ruins. The ruins would be more complex and the reaverbots tougher, but it would be very rewarding to finish them. Maybe there could be a mode with one player as a digger and the other as a spotter, with the ruin's map on the screen, sending messages about secret passages, the way out of mazes, and upcoming reaverbots. In the end, the zenny would be split between the two, according to their performance. And why stop with flutter mode? Since the Bonnes are with the Caskets now, there could be a Gesselcraft mode, too! If there's a PS3 release, maybe the bonuses obtained in the extra ruins could be transfered to the PS3 version!

Sounds AnimalCrossing-esque... but a lot cooler. You'd have to have a way to remove associations though. I don't live in the city so my only hotspot is the one here at home, so I'd want to catch some new ruins on the same hotspot now and then.

*hopes this isn't a necropost* By Roll getting outfits I was also thinking of having an extra mode akin to Megaman Powered up, where you play as Roll. ~Explanation~ In Megaman Legends 3, Trigger is still in Elysium, unless Capcom are morons and skip that entire plot hole. The Bonnes are good at digging, but Tron dislikes Roll (Due to her crush on Trigger), and as such won't allow Roll to help as spotter. Roll goes it alone into the ruins, hoping for parts to build a ship to get to Elysium and Trigger. The game would play out similar to Sonic Adventure with multiple Character Stories, you start out with only Roll (Terra story) and Trigger (Elysium centered story), then you get Tiesel and the Servbots (Gustaf mode like in MoTB), maybe Yuna and/or Sera, Glyde (The Rafale would be fun to play as), etc. ~Roll's abilities~ BusterIn the place of the Buster she gets a smaller pistol type weapon that has the following stats, non-upgradeable: Power: .8 Yep, .8 for attack. She's not experienced at digging, remember, so her weapons aren't great. Spotting yes, but aside from MML2's beginning, she never goes underground. Her pistol would be more just for defense if, say, the Flutter gets car-jacked while Trigger is underground. Range: 2 To be fair when against larger bosses, perhaps have older bosses and ruins online, for fights against Garudoiten and the likes. Energy: 4I’ll explain this, don’t worry. Rapid: 2Her pistol is rapid fire, I dunno. ~Points to make her more unique than Trigger~ - Similar to Metal Gear Solid, you would rely mostly on Stealth. Those holes in walls? Crawl in them and hide. Gun shot sounds? Buy parts for a silencer, 'because the Reaverbots are going to hear them. You can tap on walls to alert Reaverbots, and you would get a kind of radar that you could check at a stand still, when you're moving she can't focus on it (The radar is you're map, but it also shows reaverbots in the room.
- She has no Special Weapons like the Shining Laser, but she can make different guns, sort of like in MoTB with the Gatling gun and such. You could get Machine Guns, Ion Pistols(Temporarily disables enemies so you can sneak past them), etc.
I can just see that: Roll, a cute young girl, walking down the dark corridors of a ruin with a Glock. - In Roll mode, you would get 20% off Weapon upgrades, but her shots do are weaker than Trigger's, as seen above. (Roll would be available in online play, so this way she's still able to play without being in separate ruins due to enemies having more health). This penalty counts for special weapons too.
- You also take 2x more damage since she doesn't have armor. Stealth, obviously, is critical. In online play, it becomes 1.5x, so that she can actually fight with Trigger rather than sneak.
- Your movements are affected by your gear. You can get armors, not as good as Triggers, but you are slowed down by them. Go with only Roll’s Shorts and a T-Shirt/ Sweater (depends on location), you are fastest but take damage really easy. Wear a flak jacket, and you are slower than normal, but take less damage. Kevlar Jacket equipped, slower still, less damage received. Don’t like it? You try running and fighting for hours wearing all sorts of armor like Trigger. He’s a robot, Roll isn’t. You could get outfits with different abilities via online play, like I said earlier.
- Or she could get a thinner buster gun (so that she doesn't have this huge gun on her arm with the previously mentioned stats, not able to be upgraded. I'll get a diagram eventually (anyone know a good image hosting site that doesn't display other people's weird photos for all to see?). That still leaves the problem of different special weapons, got any opinions on that?
Man, Capcom could really do some amazing stuff with MML3 nowadays! That’s all I have. Hope you’ll like it. EDIT: Shaved off all the impossible stuff, added in new things.
