Just curious how many people here appreciate chip music. LSDJ is pretty sweet if you're into that kinda thing.

I think Chiz sent me something or other he described as a “chip tune” that I thought it was rather catchy. That was a long long (long long) time ago, though.
What exactly is that fellow doing? I'm not sure I understand.. @___@

He's kinda like DJing with a couple of homebrew gameboys. Yeah, basically chiptunes is taking old computer sound chips and composing modern inspired ( and often elaborate) music with it. A lot of it is garbage but every now and then someone with talent will whip out ye olde homebrew portables and start jamming all 8-bitly. I love it. Maru is my fave at the moment. Keygen Master's pretty good, too:

Holy crap! I've seen many a feature of chip music, but never anything this good. If that second video was composed live, I am truely amazed.

I'm a fan of the genre, although it's hard for me to find musicians I like a lot. I've listened to quite a few artists, and the ones I like most are probably Bit Shifter, DJ Scotch Egg, Oxygen Star, and Halko Momoi's "Famison 8-Bit" album. Anyways, I've tried to mess around with LSDJ a bit, but trackers are way overwhelming to me. I really want to get a MIDInes www.wayfar.net/0xf00000_overview.php, and I'm interested in PushPin code.google.com/p/pushpin/. I've always wanted to see how NES drums would sound along with my band.

There was a time when I listened to chiptunes/chip music/compu-synth music on a regular basis. I remember spending a great many months listening to Kohina Radio which has a wide selection of chiptunes broadcasting regularly as an OGG stream for all those interested. I think the first chiptunes that really got me into the whole thing would be from the So-Phisticated III 'album' from the late Edwin van Santen of 20CC (20th Century Composers). It had 7 tracks to it, all of them brilliant. LoaderSo-Phisticated III Part 1So-Phisticated III Part 2So-Phisticated III Part 3So-Phisticated III Part 4So-Phisticated III Part 5There's also a 6th part by Falco Paul (also of 20CC) which is just as good...but I can't find a copy on Youtube. *shrug* If you have a SID emulator like SIDplay or a plugin for WinAMP, for example, you could just get the original SID files from here. Mind you, a great deal of what 20CC has produced is very good. Definitely a group to look more into, if you're into this sort of thing.

This is insane... Mind you, a great deal of what 20CC has produced is very good. Definitely a group to look more into, if you're into this sort of thing. Holy crap that's 80's (in a good way). Not exactly my taste, but good nonetheless. I'll definitely look more into that though, might find something I'm more into. I've always wanted to see how NES drums would sound along with my band. I've heard acoustic bands use chiptunes as a backbeat for a lot of their stuff, and it works tremendously well. If you guys are still active you should definitely #$%^ around with different things like that, find a unique sound.

WOW. Makes me want to try something like that. Last LEGO film I made was in Middle School. I still have them.
