I have a suggestion, do we have enhough threads to warrant the possibility of the estabilishment of a Fanmade Games sub forum in the Fan Stuff forum?
It would be enjoyable, being able to see a forum filled with fan game related threads only, including a thread for each game in the sky pirate arcade (so that they can be discussed there), i imagine it crowned by the Eric Chiz's Guide to Fangames thread.
Some users would say that they don't want to see a clogged forum filled with subforums, but i think fangames are a solid genre in fanmade works and them being placed in "miscellaneous fan works" kind of makes it look like fangames are "meh" (and this is just myself, when i see "miscellaneous" i think of a cake with megaman's face, or Data, not a fangame), maybe a forum for them would encourage participation in said projects?
Each thread could have a template for the titles, putting [FINISHED], [IN DEVELOPMENT], [CANCELLED] or [ABANDONED] in them, overall i think it's a good idea.

If my two cents are worth anything, lemme just say I think this is a great idea.
Our fangame scene is abnormally active for such an obscure community. We have plenty enough going on for it to warrant a subforum in my opinion..

I have tons of stuff that can be used by others. A sticky thread with graphics, code, and other stuff would be cool. Maybe someone can pm fab?

I agree, I think it'd be better for the threads themselves getting noticed, and for the clutter in the miscellaneous section as it is.

I also support this idea. Everyone else has pretty much already said why.

Sounds good to me. There’s more than enough activity to warrant it, I think. And heaven knows encouraging more fan work is never a bad thing.

Yeah, I'd like to see what authority says on the subject. Everyone else seems to be in favor of it.

I like the idea. Mostly. My only problem is during down times it might get a little depressing. *shrug* JMC's point is great though: we don't want those fangames to get lost!

After reading through the discussion here, I think it's obvious that there's not enough activity or interest to bother. Suggestion rejected. XP
I kid, naturally. It seems to be a unanimous vote in favor. I don't know what makes me the "authority" but I also agree that fan game activity has increased enough to warrant a sub-forum.
Dashe and the other active staff are the ones to ask though. Though I could technically make the call based on the positive response here and I'm still capable of setting up a sub-forum, there's more to it like searching through the misc fan stuff and moving threads to the new area, and keeping on top of the changing status for projects (Active, Abandoned, etc.), as I think only the staff can change thread titles. Chiz has done a pretty amazing job with his Guide to Fan Games thread, so I imagine he'd be the one most suited to head the sub-forum. So yeah, needs input from the real staff. I'm practically a lurker these days.

So there. there's more to it like searching through the misc fan stuff and moving threads to the new area, and keeping on top of the changing status for projects (Active, Abandoned, etc.), as I think only the staff can change thread titles. And the thread starters themselves. And people who reply, but only on their own post (see my subject for example). Same with the icon. I have no problems moderating the forum. Would certainly make my job easier with keeping up with all the fangame projects. EDIT/SHAMELESS PLUG: I also finished a nice update to the above mentioned Guide to Fangames yesterday...now has pretty icons and more links.

I support it as well. I've been busy taking care of other things *cough*likemovingagain*cough* right now so I've been unable to view a lot of threads/post lately. :-\ Sorry about that.

Cool. I see it's up now. Should we expect old threads to be moved to their rightful subforum anytime soon?
