I heard the song on Wii Music at first. I noticed it was slightly similar to the tune to the first stage of Legend of the Mystical Ninja. I tried playing the song, with the sound muted, playing the notes when they were played in the town song of Legend of the Mystical Ninja. Later, when I played it on the bell game, I began to enjoy the tune. In music class, I tried to play it on the trumpet. It wasn't so good, I only knew 3 notes.
Yesterday, I was interested in the song suddenly. I found an MP3 of it, and listened to it. I loved the feel of the song, and the instruments were the perfectly chosen, and added to the atmosphere. I was especially impressed by Kyu Sakamoto's voice.
After listening, I listened again while looking at an English translation of the lyrics, and was blown away. It was cool how such a calm and cheery tune could carry such strong emotions, and how the feel changed from happy to sad and back alot, while the tune never changed. It was cool, because if you recently had a failure or were just fed up with life, it was easy to relate to Rokusuke Ei and Hachidai Nakamura's feelings of sadness, while enjoying the cheery tune. It was a generally optimistic song, and could make saddened people happy.
I saw Kyu's performance of the song on youtube, and I cried. I watched again, and cried again. It was a blend of both happiness and sadness, and Kyu's smiling face that would change to a sad face was really emotional. A beautiful experience. After that, I knew it would be my favorite song. I even prayed to Kyu that night to thank him for the song.
If you've never heard it, here's a link to the video I saw, translations in the description: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtXQ31F1A-k
