I finally figured out what I can easily contribute. I've been working on a small game for a while but that is going to take time to complete. But I can edit videos of me playing MML and MML2 to show what the game is all about. Any thoughts on what I should put in the vids?

High-resolution speedruns and longplays of the trilogy uploaded to sites like Youtube, Revver, and Veoh are always good for increasing the games' public visibility. Most-to-all of the cutscenes for the games have been uploaded to the main MMLS site, but they're all WMV for whatever reason, meaning they're less-compatible with non-Windows platforms using non-IE browsers.
Having anything in particular in them I don't think is necessary...if you're going for speedruns, obviously you'll want to skip as much as possible, but if you're going for a quality longplay (which is desperately needed), you should sit through all the cutscenes and all the text (at least the first time, anyway, so it's readable by the person watching).

I second EC--a longplay would be awesome. There are already a couple speedruns on YouTube, and personally I don't see what the point of skipping most of the game is, other than to prove you can do it. Impressive, but not very entertaining to watch.

Honestly I was thinking more along the lines of editing the footage, mostly just by cutting but also with some text commentary, to show the most fun and interesting parts of the series and gameplay. I also thought of creating a short trailer-like project that shows the highlights of the games that would make them more attractive to people who aren't drawn in, or are put off, by the game title.

Hey, that would be really cool, like turning the games into a movie. Go for it, sounds awesome!

Yeah, that's why I want advice on what pieces of the game and some cut scenes I should include/focus on

Why don't you include all of the cut scenes? Boss battles would be good too. I don't think you should include too much ruins exploration, or maybe just highlights. The main focus should be the direct storyline.

Why don't you include all of the cut scenes? Boss battles would be good too. I don't think you should include too much ruins exploration, or maybe just highlights. The main focus should be the direct storyline. I think the story is very interesting but many of the cutscenes, mainly the ones in MML2, can be long, tiresome breaks in gameplay. I want this to appeal to people who aren't diehard gamers as well as those who are. I doubt I've ever gone out and gotten a game just from seeing the cutscenes. And if I own the game that means I'll usually be much more interested in gameplay than in cutscenes I've already been through. I think that it would be best to focus on gameplay (which implies more than just the body of the game that involves shooting stuff) and for the cutscenes only put in the particularly interesting or significant parts of particular scenes. If anyone has any recommendations on particular aspects of gameplay or a piece of a cutscene I should add I'd be happy to hear them, but I don't want to focus too much on one area. I want to show the best parts of the game as a whole, not just one particular aspect. However I was already planning to include pieces of most of the boss fights since the bosses are generally pretty cool. But I don't plan on showing the entirety of anything, many people would rather see pieces of each thing than see the entire 10-20 minute boss fight that involves the player repeating the same tactics over and over. Also many people don't have time to/want to spend their time doing something other than watching a 30 minute video that is just an uninterrupted feed of another person playing. Sorry about the incredibly long response and if it sounded patronizing or anything but I'm trying to look at this from the perspective of someone who isn't totally into the MML series. Edit: I'm almost done editing the call of duty vid I am making and my life is hopefully going to be a little less hectic from now on, so I should be able to get started filming soon.
