I'll put all of my animations here as they're done. Here's one for now.

Ándele, ándele! Hope that's not the speed you intend to use for... whatever it is you're using it for. But if it's just to more easily demonstrate his stride, then that's a pretty sweet animation. Very smooth. Hope you get the head and right arm done sometime soon, I'd love to see how it turns out later.

It's all done. The head and right arms are interchangeable, and they'll be present in the game. To get full frames this is the fastest speed gif supports, I think. If I cut out every other frame it would run faster. Its just a demo, like you said.

Can you show a side view? A front view only shows so much. And it looks as though the camera is tilted on its side, could you please fix that? I'll be happy to give you indepth analysis when I can get a better idea of the animation. Of course, I may or may not be nice . Your choice.

Not bad at all. Heel lands first, though. And I'm not sure about this, but I think he should be a bit more hunched over. At the moment he's not so much running as he is jogging.

I'll fix the heel. It's ridiculous how long it takes to animate stuff. 6 hours to model something and another 20 hours to animate. I need more practice I guess.

Alright. Brutal it is . I would like to mention that I am by no means an expert on animation, I am more a modeler then an animator, but I have done work in this realm before and studied on it. One of the core aspects of running, walking, or standing is that the the weight travels through the legs, into the feet, and into the ground. The muscles of the legs counter the weight so the person is able to stand, and muscles in the back counter the weight of the torso so it doesn't flop over and so it can transfer the weight into the legs. Nutshell: Understanding weight is the core aspect of animation. Another core aspect of physics and anatomy: When someone walks both feet are on the ground a majority of the time and at least one foot is on the ground at all times; when someone runs one foot is one the ground at times and never two feet at once, and much of the running cycle is spent with the person in the air without any feet on the ground. You probably knew both of those, but those are such basic points we often forget they are there. I know I have. I just wanted to restate and establish those points before I continue. Now. First of all, this is more a jog then a run. He doesn't have any time without at least one foot on the ground. In fact, I am not sure, but I believe he may have two feet on the ground at the same time in some frames. That makes it a borderline walk! But um... You never called it a run did you? Well, It looks like you tried to make a run, hence the assumption... Annnnnyway. Weight. The weight on this animation doesn't work very well. His legs, torso, everything have a very floaty feel. When we walk and especially when we run, there is a "push off". This is when the muscles of a specific piece (say a leg) deliver the majority of their force for the cycle. In a run animation is it very clear: the leg will bend and then straighten suddenly; it bends to better allow it to deliver the force and then pushes off. There is no pushing off of any kind here. In fact, the legs don't bend at all. They are at the same angle the whole time except the when the feet are behind him where they straighten out a little. That is a core part of why it feels floaty. In your defense, at least his torso doesn't float in one spot as his legs move. XD You would not believe how easy it is to do that. But... it hardly goes anywhere. His body will move up a down, His torso bend up and down, his legs straighten and contract, etc all in the transfer of weight. And as bret said, his back is straight as a board; it looks unnatural. And I need to cut this short. Busy busy.

Thanks for the review. I don't know if you have a copy of the game around, but if you could tell me what I need to make the animation look more like the legends animations, I would really appreciate it!

Well, the picture Bret put up is a great example of how Trigger runs. He flies high through the air, legs extending very far and his back is bent far forward. It is fairly easy to get a good view of how he runs; just run to the side like was done in that screenshot. Give it a shot and see what you find.
