The Thief and the Cobbler: the Recobbled Cut

Having rediscovered this movie, I'd thought it'd be nice to bring it up here. Richard William's lost masterpiece (the first two versions were considered to be butcheries, Miramax and Majestic). A few years ago, this film was painstakingly restored as close to William's original vision as possible.




Yeah, I know it's old, but dang it, animation of this nature and scale is dying out - also, I'd thought it might be fun to show this trailer to those who have yet to see it, or those who've already seen the edited versions already. So... view and have it..

Legend had it that it was nearly finished in the early 1990's but production was stopped since Disney released Aladdin, this movie got put on the backburner..

To be fair to the other versions, I really loved the Thief's thoughts in the Miramax version- It's some of the funniest dialogue I've heard in my life. ;D And regardless of which version, how often is it you get to hear Vincent Price (Zigzag) act in rhyme?

Weird, I hated the thief's inner monologues. That voice just plain grated on me and it seemed altogether unnecessary.

You can pretty much see what the Thief is thinking, internal monologue or not.... either way, he ends up stealing the show and then some. I remember about a week ago, I drew a picture of the Thief's triumph.

If you've checked out what happens when he's trying to make off with those three golden balls, you see a wonderful example of the chaos this poor guy goes through trying to make off with the loot...
