I forgot to back up my Games I was making, when I formatted my computer, and I was wondering if anyone here knows how to recover data from a format, based on what I've learned is the files formatted are still there until the sectors are overwritten by new data, So in theory my Game data should still be there. I also lost the Legends fangame I was working on.

I've heard of that before.. I might've even done it once or twice, but I think it requires some form of proprietary software to be done well. I'm not sure if I'm seeing anything good on the Google in terms of freeware. I can't vouch for the quality of any of the programs listed here, but I'd imagine one of them should do the trick. What it would basically involve is hooking your formatted drive up to another computer (as a storage drive) and using a program on that machine to get at the files. (I think..) In any case, I'd check if you don't already have a program for this purpose already; it might be a feature buried in a larger program.

I tryed some of those programs, and they can only restore data that was deleted from the recycle bin, I used the computer bios to restore my computer to factory condition, which wiped my whole hard drive and I found a program with google that found the files but, it said I need to buy the program to restore the data, and the trial can only view the files, but this program cost $59, so it's out of my price range, So I'm still searching the internet.
Thanks for helping though. Is there any other programs you know of?

I seem to remember whatever version of Norton System Works I used to use did that.. so, again, if you happen to have that installed, maybe take a look through there. Otherwise you would have to pay for it which, yeah, is out of the question.. I poked around websites on Google a bit more but all I'm finding are pay-to-use programs. Download.com seems to offer a few (should be) freebies, but again, I can't vouch for the quality of any of them.

www.recuva.com/This is what I would recommend. I am not sure if he can undo a full format, but it is something. You likely may need to buy something to get your files. Norton has something that would do it. But try the free stuff first of course. OH! Don't write anything to that drive. It will overright data. Get what you need then start writing stuff.
