Wow this is Incredibly underated weapon. Im guessing since most people never got it since its the 2nd hardest to get in the game. (Dang Shining Laser being 1st.)
But I just walked into a room with three walking fireball shooters and one shot of this and they all died.
Then I said 'Woah' and decided to try it out against the Hanmaru Doll and then I got all 7 to hit at once (fully upgraded) and I 2 shotted him. So that means if I hit all 7 at once the Damage is almost over 4080 per hit. Im starting to think that this could kill him faster than the shining laser. ( I killed him in 2.7 seconds btw )
Thus rivaling the said strongest weapon in the game.
...
Now only if the bombs locked on and had Infinite Ammo. Lol

*plays around with it a little*
I knocked out a Sharukurusu in one blast.. quite nice indeed.
Honestly, I think I never gave this one a fighting chance.. I tried it and wasn't impressed at first (weak grenade arm I think is what I thought). I can tell you right off the bat that it's power seems to lie in close-quarters combat, as each bomb will make contact that way. This may be limiting in some ways.. smaller powerful enemies won't take the full impact even in close-range. There're probably a few other reason's it's great but not quite terribly great. Still, you're absolutely right, this is definitely one people just pass over in playing.
My memory's fuzzy: what's involved in getting the Spread Buster exactly?

Its really tough aside from the Arm supporter
Ancient Book - Item # 19 on ruins network map Attainable after gaining the red refractor. (Its in the Clozer woods Sub-gate after you go through the entrance to the ruins network it will be in a elevated room in a chest. )
Arm Supporter - Quest Item gained after finding the mans lost bag of money ( reward )
( Must Have grand Grenade ) Old Launcher - Found closest in the Lake Jynn entrance to the ruins-network. Facing the boss room, its on your right. Go through the entrance and run to the ruins bricks. Blow up the 1st one run down the isle as your running take your 1st and only right. Fight a Samurai-Shield-Shooter if you want to then blow up the next ruined brick to the south and fight another 2 take a north turn then grab it in the chest.
The Old Launcher is probably the main reason its not used by as many. Considering you have to go all the way back out to that Island to get it or plow through about 20 reaverbots some being the turtles that take forever to kill on hard mode. Then you need your grand grenade and a map of where your going just to get a good guess at where its at.
Thus why few get it.

Hmm I just tested this against Juno's 2nd Form. Getting all 7 to hit on him is harder than beating him by kicking him. But I'm pretty sure that If I ever got all 7 to hit. It would bring him down all the way in his 2nd form.
Also About it not hitting small reaverbots. Yes it can, just get them in a small room and they'll hit the walls and boom.

I like to compare the Spread buster to a shotgun. It's a deadly in close quarters but when the distance is greater it's still good but not as good as it could be.
I remember reading in the instruction manual when they had a weapons listed as well as the Spread Buster. It listed the Spread Buster as one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
When ever I go through my run through of MML I should try beating the game with just the spread buster when I get it.

The only drawback of the weapon is it's extremely low ammo. Otherwise, this is a great weapon that gets ignored a lot. At close range, this thing is a monster!
One thing I like to do is fire it straight up, its like raining bombs.

its = possessive; it's = contraction
It's ammo's not that low, is it? I was playing around with it and it lasted a good while.. Appears to have 32 shots: which is the same as the Grand Grenade and Powered Buster, while regular Grenades and Splash Mines come in at 48, Blade Arm at 128, Machine Gun Arm at 400, and the Shield Arm at ”1200“ (of course, that's a different type of limit) -- then of course, Vacuum Arm, Drill Arm, Shining Laser, and Active Buster have ∞ ammo. I suppose that does make it the lowest ammo in the game, tied with Grand Grenade and Powered Buster, but its power comparable to the rest of your arsenal coupled with a strategic discharge of bombs should make up for that fact.

I normally don't use it...I get it, of course, but don't really use it that much. Unless of course, you combine it with my special code that shoots your buster and special weapon at all times, regardless of ammo or current action. Seriously, I've mentioned this before, but, what's cooler than a trail of flames caused by flying bombs following you around and killing all in your path while you jetskate? Edit: Here's a good picture of what I'm talking about: Click

With it powered up completely and the code, you could probably beat Juno's second form on hard mode in under five seconds, that is if you can get every thing to hit.

Spread buster is one of my favorite weapons. A bit sad it's only really useful when it's maxed out, though. It's pretty versatile, really good for running and gunning, like with minor battles. If I'm not using any other weapon I'd need for a special tactic/strategy like sniping or homing, I almost always use the Spread Buster.

Was that the one that fired a steady stream and blew a radius of circular explosion when it made contact with something? And that, when fully upgraded, fired seven slow bombs that had large explosions?
I remember that I never could find the items, so I used someone's file on the MM64 version to play around with the Spread Buster...
