I love anime, it's a shame that I haven't watched that many (only like 50 compared to...who knows how much is out there).
My all time favourites: Pokemon I know I'm alone here, but I like ALL seasons of Pokemon. Of course, they did kind of go downhill after the Kanto region. But the Diamond and Pearl season is really good, almost as good as the first season.
Kyo Kara Maoh! A comedy/fantasy/adventure story about a boy who gets flushed down a toilet and becomes king of an alternate world. Oh, and he gets engaged to a boy by mistake. Seriously, I love this anime. A lot. My second favourite, to be exact. It started a third season in April.
Erementar Gerad I love this series as well, I even have a Cou action figure =D Glad to see at least one other person has heard of it!!
Digimon Tamers I was so obsessed with this series when I saw it on TV, I made my dad buy me a Digivice, and I still have it. I also taped all of the episodes on VHS and still have them as well. My favourite season of Digimon! It was more mature than Adventure 1 and 2, which really drew me into it.
Other favourites? xD Black Blood Brothers Bokurano Cardcaptor Sakura Code Geass/Code Geass R2 D. Gray-Man Death Note (watched the whole series, but hated it after episode 26) Fruits Basket Hayate the Combat Butler History’s Strongest Disciple: Kenichi Ouran High School Host Club Mega Man NT Warrior Mega Man Star Force (actually I only watched RnR Tribe but loved it) The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Shaman King
I watch some dub anime as well, but if I start with the sub I usually can't switch to the dub because the voices sound bad in comparison to what I'm used to (and vice versa if I start with the dub).

While I'm not a heavy anime watcher, there are some that I do enjoy.
- Naruto (subbed, the dub voices annoy me)
- Dragonball
- DBZ (I actually prefer the manga)
- Bobobo
- Cyborg 009
- Ronin Warriors

I will have to remember this Kyo Kara Maoh! you speak of, TronBonne. With a premise like that, there is no possible way that I wouldn't like it. |D
And to this day I'll watch Pokemon as long as it meets one very important criterion: Team Rocket. Goofy villains are pretty much an ironclad weakness for me, I guess. ^^;

Jeeeeeeeez, you people keep making me remember ones I forgot! Lupin the Third was great. as Zenigata: Luuuupiiin!!!! normal: Man, Lupin was a funny one. ;DSo many wonderful capers and chases. I still wish they showed it. On that note aside, The Castle of Cagliostro is one my favorites. I was so excited when I heard it was being released again a few years ago. Not only was it good for a classic, it was also the directorial debut of one of the masters: Hayao Miyazaki himself. This thread is almost like a mug of hot chocolate on a cold winter's night. Might as well add a few more to the list: Speed Racer Dominion Tank Police Castle in the Sky Howl's Moving Castle

It just captivated me. The old golems and the noble castle in the Sky Ta- da da!

You think the anime is good? Try reading the manga.
School Days is how all harem series truly end.

I don't know where to find the manga online, but I already know it's ending thanks to research.
I actually just finished watching the series yesterday night. I knew that the last episode was supposed to be like "that", but it was still a huge shock.
This is must-watch anime, people.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a pretty good horror anime. I can't tell you how many times it managed to make me cringe in my seat and to top things off, all of the characters are drawn in such a moe fashion. GENIUS!
Now for tears jerkers... 'AIR'. Dude, if you're not a mess by the end of that series, you have no soul! NOOO SOUL! This is coming from one of the manliest men you'll ever meet...or so I'd like to think.... Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bench a few hundred pounds and call my girl over to bring her Hello Kitty collection. FOR HER TO WATCH...Ahem...

@thread question: Robot Carnival. ♥ I don't like any anime unless you count Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky. Hayao Miyazaki is cool. Hmm... Don’t watch that much anime myself. I'm in the same boat as Mlt and Staulmaster in that I don't watch a whole lot of anime. I'm incredibly picky about it... Anime got AIDs sometime during the new millenium. I grew up with anime like Gunnm ( not to be mistaken with Gundam), Rôjin Z, Akira, and a ton of violence and sexploitation stuff. I obviously liked the medium because it had a broader range of audiences, wasn't afraid of having allegories of war and societal issues, was thoughtful and imaginative. Then all these western kids threw money at it and everything went downhill from there. And it's not just a nostalgic thing, either. There are old animes I love that I haven't been exposed to up until a couple years ago, like Cowboy Bebop and Lupin III that don't have that let's-do-it-for-the-american-kids bull$|-|!7 attitude. It's pretty obvious Japan knows the world is watching them now, and they're overly self-conscious about it. There's nothing wrong with being a weirdo, Japan. Cultural fusion is lame. Go back to your roots. I liked you better that way.

I've been digging up a few things here and there, so here's a few more for me: Captain Harlock- Probably the first mighty pirate in space. It's old, but I like the exposition on the characters. Haven't seen all of them, yet. Dragon Warrior- This was my first exposure to anime. I remember as a kid, waking up around sunrise every saturday to see it. I rediscovered it via torrenting a few years ago, and nostalgia's like fine wine, it is. Overall, it's a interesting adaptation of DQ3, the dub was pretty good for its time. Unfortunately, there was a dispute with not crediting Akira Toriyama with the designs and art style- the results pulled the plug on the dub after the 13th episode... you'd be lucky to find the rest of the series on bootleg... Gurren Lagann: When I picked up the manga adaptation, I had a haze of expecting GL to be of a typical mecha series with overly done fanservice- those expectations were shattered. I watched a few eps of the anime and this is one of the best series I've seen- it can be outrageous, but not to the point of excess. Funny, yet serious when the occasion calls for it. The art style is just plain awesome and the concept has something that is lacking in most anime these days: originality. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this one. .. though I gotta tell ya, the blooper reel might kill you with laughter. Astro Boy (2005 version): The first complete series I've acquired. On the surface, it looks lighthearted, but this series has a good bit of depth if you look in the right places- Astro's coming to grips with his role and his past, Dr. Tenma's takes on robots and evolution (among other topics and subjects too numerous to mention) ,this series can be a little dark at times. It's a good tribute to one of Osamu Tezuka's great legacies.

I remember seeing my first anime, SD Gundam, when I was a kid, and I loved every bit of it. The plot seemed so much more epic than anything I'd seen before, the setting and characters were so complex, varied, and lovable, the humor was exactly the kind I loved, and the drawing style was so cute, silly and expressive. I still remember one of the robots crying fountains of tears. Oh, and a really good line from one of the defeated bad guys:
"THIS... CAN'T... BE... HAPPENING! Well, I guess it can be happening, but... IT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING!"
I really loved anime ever since. Right now, my favorite is Dragon Ball, back when Goku was a kid. I am currently addicted to the theme song. "Tsukamou ze! DRAGON BALL!" My second favorite is the original, wacky and forth-wall destroying Samurai Pizza Cats. Pokemon's pretty good, too.
And when I was playing Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, when the final boss scared me a lot, I only had to hum the Totoro theme to bring my confidence back. (Man, I'm wimpy...)
