yes... you heard it... Ive been thinking about making some sequels myself... I want some feedback on the idea though, as it will be a lot of work. I know C and have been thinking about making a sega dreamcast megaman legends 3.... ALTHOUGH THIS MAY NOT HAPPEN. sorry for the caps, just dont want anyone to say I promised it or anything.
anyway, the graphics engine in a dreamcast is much stronger then a PS1, and Ive heard from some dreamcast homebrew developers that it may not be hard to code a replica of the first two games or something better... or at least something close...
I dunno if they are really going to continue the series... this is sorta like what happened to the original megaman. by the time anyone hought about him again, all the new generation of gamers didnt know who he was. we had a bunch of teenagers and 20 year olds who wanted a sequel, and a bunch of little kids who didnt know who he was, and probably thought X came first and was better.
I am not prepared to let this happen to legends. too much of a deep storyline was made for it to just die out. I dont want to see another megaman original.
face it, its been almost 5 years since legends 2 came out 5 YEARS. Im not sure they are going to continue it anymore, no matter what capcom said!
so what do you think? and as my closing words on this I will repeat: NO PROMISES...I may not start this project -- I just want opinions. school is starting up soon and I wont have much time to work on it. so dont start thinking Im promising you something... but I still say that it is quite possible that I will make a new one, if the idea is popular...

If you mean creating an actual game for the dreamcast, that's not a terrible idea, but a lot of people don't have that particular system (yours truly included).
You may want to try coding one for PC or one of the more readily-available formats instead.

since its C it would be easy to port... although in the US you can get dreamcasts for about $9.99 at eb now... on PCs you could make one that would probably run on crappy computers (like mine... I only have 64mb ram... lol.) seriously, the 3d engine in legends wasnt the most powerful thing in the world...
and yes, BTW, I did mean to actually make a full game. I personally think it would show capcom people really care about the series... and would hold us off until they make a sequel...

I think this may belong in the Fanworks section...
But anyway, go for it! If I had more programming ability than a cat (I have less than some), I'd think of doing it myself.

Another Legends sequel project? Is this like a fanworks wave crashing upon the community or something? XP
I'm all for the idea, but there are a lot of things to consider when making a game and all the jazz. Just know that you're often going to find yourself slaving and cursing in some spots. Seeing that you've talked to/read from other developers, you're probably aware of this and I am just rambling.
Anyhow, I'd be happy to contribute ideas. (Tried modeling, found that I can't do it. I can't program. @_@) Anything you have in mind so far?

I think this may belong in the Fanworks section... I believe you're right! *smacked for not paying attention* And uh... Kind of freaky to see another topic like this pop up a week later. Have you considered collaborating...?

I don't know much yet, but I am hopefully going to take a game design class this fall. I'll tell you if I get to take it, and I'd be glad to help, if I can.
I think it would definately be a plus if you teamed up to make the game.

Ok, seeing that a lot of people like the idea, I will try... hopefully getting something good in the end...
edit: can someone give me a link to where I can find the other person working on a project similar to this? if so, I will contact him asap! if we collaborated, it would get rid of the hefty help needed info below! lol.
(help needed -- if interested read in under the dotted lines below.) ----------------------- although, Im going to need some help on this -- Im not good at everything that needs to be done... here is a list of available stuff I need/would-like help with... sorry... but I lack talent in many ways... and the operating system you all probably use. lol.
1. some other coders requirements: a knowledge of the C programming language and a compiler. description: basically another coder to help me with the project... school starts (for me) next week, so Im going to be busy... it would also help speed up the project. I have not decided on the 3d library I'll be using, but it will probably be something simple and open source (free).
2. 3d modeler(s) requirements: the ability to make 3D models that can be viewed on any type of OS (im using linux, so special formats will be hard to work with on my end)
3. Music composer(s) requirements: the ability to make music while the game is playing. I have no musical talent or equipment. as long as you can do something its good. better then no music at all... description: make the sound track and effects.
4. Windows version maintainer (I use linux... sorry...) requirements: a windows operating system (any version), a C/C++ compiler & the 3d library that I choose for the project. and installed runtimes for whatever 3d library I end up choosing. this position is vital. Im using linux, and even with a cross compiler, I cant test things that well with just wine. I know a lot of you out there use microsoft, so I really need some help in this area. description: uhh... maintain and compile a windows version... lol.
5. Project site hosting description: uhh... I kinda need somewhere to host this... I have no $$$; I work for free, and I guess thats the price you pay eh? well, just as long as I can get some good hosting for free (no domain, of course) that will allow downloads and a fair amount of bandwidth would be nice... I dont care if its a personal server or a hosting service -- just tell me about it. description: find somewhere where I can host the project with no $$$. Im 14 and I have no job... and school is coming up. cant pay aything for it, and most free hosts I see wont allow downloads.
how to sign-up: Uhh... I think proboards has a PM type thing, right? well, PM me about it, with what you want to contribute as the subject... my old email is yahoo, and filled with 2000+ spams, so Im screwed there until I get a new one. lol. -------------------- I can live without a few of these "volunteer" positions filled, but I need to get some help (mainly a modeler and a windows version maintainer) If I even want to start... dont worry though, Im also going to post this at a forum with a lot of developers, so I should get help soon enough... I hope. anyway, a lot still needs to be done, but when I get the people I need together, we can start working on this...
Im sorry, but in order to get a project like this done, I need a (small) team. its kind of something I havent mentioned yet. and sorry about the LONG post.

Uh... I actually DID link to the other topic in the word in my last post, but it didn't show up very well. mmls.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=talkfan&thread=1093293708&action=display&start=0And... Did you seriously not notice that topic directly below yours? 0_o

turns out that we cant work together.... the stuff he uses isnt going to work on my OS (linux... newest stable kernel)... mainly the 3D models... and the fact that Im not sure if his engine is free... the modeler he uses is either pay or extremely big -- I have dial-up... sorry. nuff said.

Alright, but i could use you engine(help you.) if your engine isn't free either, then no i guess we can't. (besides if you programmed your engine of course.) I run on winxp, so i guess linux programs won't run, correct? well continue yours if so.
EDIT: i can code in c just to let you know.

I was very slowly learning to model for a failing mmorpg that I was originally the concept designer for. If I ever get back onto it, I'll let you know.

err... I hate to say this, but Im not going to be able to do it after all... school starts next week, and Imm probably not goign to have time to be the main coder/manager of a huge project... I cant get access to this computer until pretty late these days... people are aiting for calls or using it otherwise... soon Im going to have homework and football and whatnot (yes.. Im a geek... but I still paly sports...)... not to mention that school starts really early where Im moving, and I sleep like a rock. without a heavy dose of caffiene I wont possibly be able to wake up as is... lol. but not my name, I could try and help you with your code a little if you need it... maybe port it to linux after you finish??? I might be able to do that much, but starting something big is out of the question for now... and I still have like 20 other projects I need to finish... sorry if I dissapointed anyone with this... I just got thinking about this a few minutes ago; but like I said, it may not happen... I had a feeling I wouldnt start it... Im probably going to be labeled as a spammer/troll now, but hey, what can I say... its the truth. good luck on your project not my name, and contact me if you need some help... I can try if you need it...

As predicted...
Anyway, if you're not making it, I'm gonna lock this. No point in keeping discussion going on something that is non-existent.
