Quotable quote: "I'm pretty sure the little ones the shrimp fork... But I suppose it could be the cockail fork too... What the hell, I'll just call it a salad fork and be done with it." ~ Fade, interior monologue as he examines his silverware.
Dossier: Fade Llanke is wealthy, but far from pampered. He's a true gentleman, a good leader and a pretty decent scrapper as well. As befits the heir of one of the wealthiest Air Pirate families in history, the Llanke family, richer even then the pathetically morally bankrupt Loathe family.
Fade is even tempered, and rarely ever yells or become cross with anyone. He always has a smile, even for his most blood thirsty mortal enemy will see his pearly whites. Fade was raised in a household that hammered the ideology he holds dear in form the day he could first walk. In fact, Fade comes from breeding so good, he knows the difference between entree` forks, salad forks, cocktail forks and shrimp forks. He also has an old fashioned concept of chivalry, so lavishes his attention upon all women of good standing in a gentlemanly fashion.
Fade is also a talented fighter, suffering from a lack of anyone to help teach him how to refine his techniques.
Bio: Fade was born into the Llanke family, the youngest child of three, and attention was lavished upon him by loving parents and older siblings. From the day he could hold a rapier, fencing and etiquette were drilled into his head. Though his upbringing was strict, it was also liberal. Allowed to make his own mistakes like any normal child, Fade learned from them the same way everyone else did, by making mistakes. Lots, and lots of mistakes. He skinned his elbows and knee's so often his family called him "boo-boo." His big brother Mirage often teased him enough to make him cry.
Growing up in the Rose Hue desert, Fade and his sibling spent so much time out in the sun and the sand, they eventually earned the nickname the 'Sand Pirates.' Fade often helped his older siblings out on raiding desert caravans. Mirage and Silhouette were often referred to by caravan leaders as "The Pillars," because they always began a heist, by standing and waiting a distance apart in front of the Caravan, while fade placed Splash mines in they're escape route. Fade, for his part, was usually referred to as 'That Damn Kid.'
When Fade was eleven, his entire family disappeared. Whatever happened was so traumatic he represses the memory even to today. All he remembers is that they're prisoners on Nautilus Island, the wealthy island the Llanke family had been a military to before they broke away and became privateers. Waking the wreckage of the family airship, Nautilus 1, Fade vowed to free them. Since then, Fade has spent his life dodging bounty hunters at every turn, desperately seeking an ancient device he believes will help him free his family from the clutches of Nautilus Island. To this end, he began doing his youthful best to repair his family's airship to cary the device, but it's an extremely large airship, so he honestly believes he might might find the device long before he finishes the airship.
Going it alone on digs or repairing the Nautilus 1 proved to be impossible, so he sought out the wrecked hulks of rare vaguely spider like Reaverbots in an underwater ruin, salvaging 24 of them, and converting them into his own person analog to Servbots or birdbots, the Crossbones. These four legged glistening metallic robots speak in a binary octave that only he can understand, thanks to a special translator ear piece he wears. Their reaverbot heads we're replaced by almost satyrical skull like heads. Alpha through Omega, the 24 Crossbones became his loyal companions, letting him continue his work, as well as accelerating repairs on the Nautilus 1 exponentially. Even if they give him a lot of lip.
Repairs on airship often reached stumbling blocks, such as low funds. In these instances, Fade resorted to Common digging and high piracy, in the tradition of the Llanke family. However, unlike other emmbers of the family, he ocasionally bungled a few jobs in truly undignified manners. Once, whil stopping to scratch a rather personal itch that had been driving him crazy
The Ruins fade needed to excavate were still far too harsh, so Fade devoted a few years to improving his technique, and developing his own specialized digging mech, the Ettin. With the Ettin's powerful weapons and armor, as well as extreme resistance to submersion and cold, the many Ihkali ruins slowly unfolded before him like a rose in the first delicate rays of sunlight. But Ichkali was perhaps the most devious set of ruins on the whole of Terra. It seemed almsot as if for every tens steps he took, he he had to take five backwards, such were the disturbing frequency of large guardians and dangerous traps. More then once the hulk of the Ettin had to be extricated by Crossbones, and returned to base camp, so Fade could spend days recovering from his injuries and then repair his mech.
Fade also had a 'duty' to represent his family at the rare social gatherings of the many pirate families. Fortuanately, he was able to atend most of these with little interuption to his work. Not only that, any idiot who passes up a free surf and turf dinner of prime rib and lobster is daft enough he gets what he deserves simply by not showing up. I suppose.
One day, though, Fades life would take a turn for the bizarre when his claim was jumped by a girl of radiant beauty, by his estimation of it. Beautiful expressionate eyes, and girlish curves as well as luxurious hair, and her name was Bonne, Tron Bonne. He knew his family had dealings with the Bonnes in the past, but he'd been too young to remember many details. Apparently, someone, not knowing he was already digging out the Ichkali ruins had directed her here. Dragging his eyes away from her figure long enough to negotiate a token of consideration, 3/4 of a million zenny, 1/4 of what he'd already excavated. Tron left with the zenny, but somehow, Fade knew he'd see her again. Somehow, somewhere, because the pieces of the legendary relic he was looking for had been carried away from Ichkali to the four corners of Terra, and in a big world like this, chance meetings often repeat.
