Long story short since I read about GunMecris's 'assassin' and I never want anybody I like to make the same mistake he made. So, for those of you that care for a short read or have nothing better to do, here is a brief description of what hate filled paths may expose an assassin.
It is a very common misconception that Assassin's think they are cool. While in very few cases this is so, mostly in the James Bond kind of thing, because he is an Assassin, and a spy, but really that's just because he's a G-man, and he, like all Assassin's has an outer core that is hard as steel but for him he has to be an actor as well. You can know an Assassin all your life and never know anything about him. They are dead, somewhere. Those who are workers are dead on the outside, those who are actors, like James Bond, are dead on the inside. Don't get me wrong the workers are dead inside too, but with them it's more obvious (and scary).
Assassin's do not walk around talking big or swearing. The few that do don't live long. Assassin's may or may not be able to kill someone with their bare hands, but non the less you don't want to make one angry, because they have wrath, all of them. In other words, they might not be able to snap you neck like a twig, but they're just looking for some one to thump and you don't want to be today's lucky number. A little side note, they hate themselves more that YOU or anyone else ever will so don't bother telling them.
When thinking about Assassin's its interesting to think about how they grew up. None of them come from families really, I only know of one that does, a very nice family anyways, I liked them, but even though he acts decent around them he hates them more than I can say. Most Assassin's can tell you, if you ask the right way, about hours they spent lying on their beds, thinking about their families and why God took them from them. They hate everything and everyone, except for the few people that are nice to them, and whether by self-delusion or actual experience not many people do apparently, and the few that do they secretly swear to defend. Soldiers swear, gov. workers swear, but the Assassin is self contained. He doesn't say anything without thinking and most of them think fast, all the time.
They are very cold to the world, they are very mean, very rough, if they don't like you but aren't going to kill you, you might be better off than having them like you, because a few of them consider a good punch in the shoulder a hug and it can hurt. Likewise they all have philosophies, every last one of them, and it's not always pretty.
I am not an Assassin, I probably never will be, I'm an assessor, I look things over and give people thoughts to chew on without telling them what to think. The pay is not good, in fact I would do better to volunteer at a homeless shelter, maybe I could steal some food and the occasional blanket, but everything is so interesting. Assassin's aren't good they're masochists, spiritual masochists. They know that there is not place for them in heaven so they try to do what good they can, or they've just given up, and may as well be murderers.
Likewise some of them go on a raid and kill a bunch of people when they were suppose to kill one (with poison by the way) and some people never hurt anybody they aren't suppose to, and would steak their lives on not screwing up. You can feel it in your gut, which one tries to do what little good it can, and which is just a heartless SOB. But really, in this business, there isn't any other way to be.
I only start this thread because GunMecris wrote in awful character that was no doubt himself, as a villain, and unbeatable I'm sure. Share what insight you can, we're all friends here, right?
