I mean seriously! Has anyone gotten the gate leading into Nino destroyed while fighting Glyde? The Guild Master goes insane and kills everyone . I mean, come on! Theres no reason for him to do that! First of all, just because they've gotten in it doesn't mean they'll get past the seal to the Ruins, or actually get the key, Megaman could easily stop them in there tracks. And even if they did get the key, it would be worthless without the others, so Megaman could still get the other 3, and get the last one from them. Even if they did get all the keys, it wouldn't be the end of the world! They'd just be rich. Not something to KILL EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE ISLAND over.

Yeah, pretty much everyone here knows about that xD
It was one of those stand-out things in the series.
Even so, if MegaMan could "easily stop them in their tracks", the gate wouldn't have been destroyed in the first place.
What amazes me is Nino Island has a Self Destruct button.. feature.. thing.
Think of it this way though, once Glyde got the key, who's to say he wouldn't blow the island up himself?

I wouldn't put something like that past Glyde. But the Guild Master blowing up the island and killing everyone, that's a little extreme, don't you think? I don't know what kind of madness the GM went through during his past adventures with Barrel and Von Bluecher, but considering the fact that his idea of a greeting is shooting down your ship just 'cause he thought you were a pirate, one must be inclined to think he's got a very loose screws in his head. Personally, I'd be just a little worried if the guy in charge of my neighborhood had a self destruct mechanismon hand...

Yeah...seriously, why does he have a self destruct button? . Well, he could of ordered every one to evacuate, instead of killing EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON NINO ISLAND. >_>

Considering Nino's surrounded by water, and Glyde and his gang had already attacked, I don't think evacuation would've been an option. o.o

Well..They could have some boats and airships that could go unnoticed on the bottom floor..

Submarines you can't forgot those either. There isn't many people on Nino island anyway. So it would be really easy. I just realized, I'm just like the Guild Master...ONE CRAZY MOTHER TRUCKER. I have my own cameo sort of. Of course, it is a little extreme. It's kind of like a big joke like haha. I wouldn't every have a self destructed bottom on my island because I would "accident" blow up the place.

I think airships may be an option, maybe, but not submarines or boats: if I'm not mistaken the island's pretty high above water.
To recap, the reason the Guildmaster plans to blow up the island when pirates attack is to keep the island's very important treasure, the key, from falling into the pirates' hands.

That's a good reason, considering the importance of the key.... But I still don't think it justifies the fact that he's willing to kill eveyone else on the island...

The key is pretty worthless alone; and he should atleast wait and see if Glyde got to the key first! Anyway, whats the worse that could happen if they get all of the keys? Get rich!

Well, in the intro cutscene, Yuna said that the mother lode was "not a treasure at all...it's a catastrophe waiting to happen!" But yeah, I suppose that's besides the point if the Guildmaster didn't see her say that on TV in the first place (I assume he didn't. He might have, and could have started to panic about the fact that one of the keys to the Mother Lode was in the Nino Ruins).

But people don't know that the Mother Lode is really the Carbon Reinilization Program...

At least they got some sort of a warning. Just a friendly, "Don't go looking for the Mother Lode if you know what's good for you."
