Let's see... @digouter: Jojo in the Secret Santa? OH MY GOD!!!!!! Just kidding, but I like the silliness of it.  UltraViolet64: THey're not the only ones... which makes the pain in the last panel that much more palpable. Ouch, poor Volnutt.. ^^; @suluinca: Jeez- Yikes, everyone's out for blood on this one... ^^; XD At the same time, I feel sorry for Volnutt, but the scope made me laugh out loud. XD @hayatofurata: Mimicutie-trapped treasure chests. XD Yeah, I share Sera's sentiments on this one. Those ancients are really crazy! and I know a certain mehnir deliveryman who'd agree if he saw this. XD @emeltee: A blue period made manifest. Very nice one. Good job, everyone. Low turn out, but the works speak a good bit of volume. |

Aw Mio... that's wonderful T - T. I actually teared up a little reading it, because the "come back and see me again" line is played out ad nauseam, that I was thinking it would be used in a humor piece. It's freakin' wonderful, thank you ; v ;. We all miss him, and I'm sure he misses being back with everyone ahahah. These entries are great! I'm sorry I haven't had time to do much, there's just too much to do this holiday season eheh. I love all of the works, and I wish I had worked harder on mine, but I'm happy that it's up here in Secret Santa history T v T Merriest Christmas again, to everyone |

the "come back and see me again" line is played out ad nauseam, that I was thinking it would be used in a humor piece. That was originally what I meant to go for, but I couldn't for the life of me think of a way to do that without it having a really predictable punchline. (I even contemplated making a comic about how I couldn't come up with any ideas for this prompt, but that would have made it seem like I didn't even try.) Besides, I wouldn't have felt right making fun of Ira. That would have just felt cold-hearted. ;~; Anyways, great entries, everyone! I was very busy at my lousy job this Christmas, but these entries were a little ray of sunshine for me. I hope everyone has a good and relaxing holiday season, especially after this utter nightmare of a year. |

I don't have much to say about my piece. Like with a lot of my SS entries, I took this opportunity to experiment with some brushes/methods I don't normally use. There was a good bit of scratch work that ended up getting tossed out, but I'm not unpleased with the result. I see hayatofuruta has disappeared into the sunset. But we appreciate him showing up to participate, unlike that bum HF. |

(If it is you, HF ... I wanted to say I really missed you. Seriously.)
I have to say, you all really put a lot of hard work into your entries this year... and still had time to put up with the rest of the holiday?! Whoa... It really shows, for everyone's pieces for the love of Digg... ravenf6 : *chuckles* I had the feeling someone was going to do interpret my prompt that way, and to see that giant Servbot mech ("Servatron"?) smashing the Colossus with what appears to be the Eden monolith is nothing short of hilarious.  When thinking of a prompt, I wanted a good laugh this year around and I'm thankful that I got you this year (plus, I really wanted to see another of your sketches again.) MegaTuga : Oh lord, I could help but laugh at this one, manly because of the animation and timing to the music. In fact, I watched that several times over because I found it so freaking funny especially when the Fokkerwolf spots whoever's spying on it. The quality just keeps getting better per year! Good one, Tuga! @hayatofuruta: Is this the first time drawing a System Unit who's not Juno (or if not then where did I miss it...?) It's really good! (Me likey.) Again, Sera's seriousness is the real star in this show, along with that really swole-looking Mimic in the background, heh heh oh lord... XD UltraViolet64 : Wow. Just wow. You took the time to create a 12-panel comic, in full color, and executed it with all care and compassion for the scenario with nothing but 100% wholesomeness...  wow. This is awesome. I do concur that turning the tired old phrase into a joke would have been heartless to say the least, considering how much of a sweetheart Ira is; there's nothing worth justifying picking apart that poor disabled girl who just wanted nothing more than to go on an adventure. My favorite part's has to be the coloring between the actual scene and Ira's letter; it's really cool detail that really nails the mood you're going for. Digouter : He he. Is that Teisel submitting himself to the Caskett Empire (good idea,) or is he trying to win Volnutt's attentions (umm, nice try buddy)? Riot! Either way, I'm sure he's bound to get MegaMan's attention either way. I love that "Operation Ma-ROLL-lf" codename! Santa Melty : Ooh, looks like the Curator's brushing up (literally and figuratively) on her 20th century art history knowhow. I can appreciate that, considering what an interesting time period that was for art at the time and that was a course of study I had to take in uni; that era's work is both under appreciated and misunderstood by a lot of people, and at least I can say that my "rival" and I have something they share in common. Excellent work, though after she gets over depressing Blue Period, she needs to move on to something more upbeat with a bit more *clears throat* red... It was a pleasure seeing these all considering what a washout this year has been for everyone. Happy holidays, and a belated merry Christmas to everyone here! Let's hope for a better year than this dumpster fire of one. |

I had wanted to make something like my 2017 Secret Santa piece, which is why I was kinda stuck on doing something with a punchline for a day or so. (I guess the final product technically has one. My lawyer advised me to include this disclaimer.) My original idea was a comic about Mega Man coming back to visit Ira multiple times to tell her about his adventures, only for her to say the same thing every time. I really hated the idea, partially because Ira is a character too sweet to really make the "punchline" worth attempting, and mostly because this kind of joke falls into the crappy early/mid-2000s gamer comic category to me. "Whoah, a secondary NPC character in a video game only has a finite amount of dialogue?? How WACKY is that?!"
Ugh.
Anyways, I figured I should give proper comments now that I have free time.
Digouter - Thank you for the excellent fashionable Teisel content. You're doing the lord's work. This looks like something that would be used as an easter egg texture, either in the game's internal data or a painting barely visible in the background of a shot from a single cutscene. I love this type of thing.
ravenf6 - Surprised they haven't resorted to this yet...or is this the lost #42? Really enjoy the design of the Servbot mecha, feels right in line with something that we'd see officially. I hope he's having a good time clobbering that there Colossus. UltraViolet64 - wow bro u suk. u shud at least try 2 draw better then a kid if ur gonna draw as 1 lol
SULucina - Incredible work! Your rendering style is phenomenal, makes me envious. I love that you even went out of your way to draw some NPC models in the background. Guess he shouldn't have taken the money from the briefcase.
HF - Great work as always. Though, I don't think that design's too crazy. I think it's cool and funny, which are coincidentally my only two criteria for "good".
Santa Melty - Needs some talent. Fun piece, I'm a big fan of monochromatic art. I give you a lot of bonus points for using my favorite secondary character in a prompt that I threw out arbitrarily when I remembered I needed one to participate. What's this brush texture called, anyways? I might want to play around with it when I get the chance to.
MegaTuga - Just as silly as it should be. Honestly, good on you for using the Pink Panther theme instead of the far-more-obvious theme to Scooby-Doo, Where Are You. (Which is probably what my horrifically-uncreative brain would have resorted to had I been given this prompt.) |

Nice to see a good turnout this year. That hayatofuruta is totally not me down to the initials of his SS request.
Same... sorry I have been pretty much absent for quite some time; been busy as hell lately with job hunting and working on other projects.
Was literally in the middle preparing for 2 interviews during this event so there wasn't time to add a bunch of detail as hoped (at least one of them followed through, yay).
As always, great stuff from everyone this year (except you, hayatofuruta). Here's to what's hopefully a much better new year!
