John "TotalBiscuit" Bain, the Cynical Brit, released a statement yesterday pertaining to his treatment of his bowel cancer.Seems he's come to terms with what time he has left; no speculation, but the chemotherapy's reached the end of its usefulness and he's been turned down for the clinical trials he's been shooting for 'cause his liver just isn't up to snuff for it. Going forward, he's officially retired from games criticism and is taking a more laid-back role, still maintaining the Co-Optional Podcast, but preparing to move all efforts with his Youtube and Twitch channels to his wife Genna. This is sad news. He's only... what, 33? To die from cancer this young... he's only a bit older than me, and he's been such a trooper throughout it. Bowel cancer is one of the worst you can get, and he's fought every step of the way; to see him starting to accept that all he's got is quality-of-life stuff left to him now is demotivating. Posting this here because TB's been a huge part of the video game journalism scene, with his channel being one of the most informative sources on up-and-coming indie games, as well as pushing for more stuff like plenty of accessible options of video settings in most games and maintaining his podcast informing people on the latest in video game industry news.

I understand this topic hasn't exactly been booming, but I feel as if the man deserved a bit of additional respect as a cancer patient who fought long and hard for his life; even if I never really watched or listened to his content myself. Warframe is a "MMOesque" game that I play regularly. Every so often on select Thursdays the community managers of Warframe will livestream and play the game for viewers to see, usually handing out prizes and doing overall fun stuff in addition; they call these events "Prime Time". One week ago Prime Time begun as scheduled... but Rebecca and Megan ran into some troubling news. News which caused them to cancel Prime Time, shedding tears while doing so. May 24th, which happened to be the day of Prime Time, also happened to be the day of TotalBiscuit's passing. I was at work while all of this was happening, but I was certainly not left in the dark since I'm a part of a few other Warframe Partner's Discord communities. This leads me to Quite Shallow on Youtube (Or Shy). She's an infamous Warframe partner who makes it her job to cut down Warframe's devstreams and Prime Time to give you the information you need to know without having to watch an hour of content. She also produces crude and straightforward humor that may not always be SFW, but she actively followed TotalBiscuit for 7 years. As an artist, she's created a stunning portrait of him in his memory, which is my point in posting: Here's her statement on the video, which can also be seen as the top comment in the video: "I don't usually post art videos so close to one another but it's a special occasion, and i will be going back to warframe tomorrow. I watched TotalBiscuit for 7 years, everything from his Terraria series to his gaming podcast, and was inspired greatly by him and his work. He did a lot for consumers, gaming community in general, and Warframe in specific. Members of DE* said that there was Warframe before his video, and then there was Warframe after his video. He pushed this game out of obscurity and helped to shape it into what it is today. Rest in peace John." *Digital Extremes, the creators of Warframe
