This one is random, but I remember one of my older art pieces (if you can call it that) here the Station where Tron and Megaman are playing Legends ahahah. This is a kind of continuation to that! I imagine Tron would be something of a completionist, so she'd undoubtedly come across the Roll bath scene in Legends 2... the thing that cracked me up was that a victory sound chimes in after Roll kicks you out, and then Megaman pumps his fist in reaction... (also, I regret doing this so fast since I realized the living room is hecka small too late T v T) This is some really good line work I have to say

I'm really glad you like it! Now I feel a little worse for just sketching that up to scratch the creative itch before getting back to work instead of taking the proportions seriously T v T
Thanks again! I appreciate the feedback, and yeah, line work would be where I put the most work in growing up eheh

Whoa. Those pixelated sketches are top tier type stuff, and I'm digging Sonar Eclipse's design as well! A little envious myself of how fine tuned your line work and attention to forms are despite the style, but I guess that's only natural coming from someone who never formally studied anatomy. Impressive. Your hand-drawn sketches are surprisingly clean, too. I'd like to see more of this. Shame I take long breaks in-between posts but it's sadly necessary. After finishing the last few pieces of mine, I may want to check out that fanfic... Out of sheer curiosity, what do you use to create the pixel-ly pics? I've used MS Paint for Uncle Digg knows how long, 14 years? Only in recently I've started using more "advanced" arting software because I wanted to get more serious with my stuff. Also, welcome back to the site, Digouter . It's always a joy to see vets return to the site they once called home online. I may seem new here, but actually I've been visiting the site since the early days in the mid 2000s (how I found out about Legends 2 and MoTB); just more recently mustered the courage to make an account here because the strictness of the rules.

Aw hahah... you flatter me too much ; v ; I'm really glad that you enjoyed the work. And are you kidding me about the envy? I should be saying the same thing about your work ethic and your use of colors! I honestly have no idea how you pulled those off, because I'm very draconic when it comes to art haha. I tend to just sketch and leave it at that. And, don't sell yourself short when it comes to your line art yeah? I've always just been really obsessed about lineart and that's where I poured most of my passion. I hadn't formally studied anatomy myself, but I'm not going to say I didn't study it in my free time = v =... Out of sheer curiosity, what do you use to create the pixel-ly pics? Regarding the sprite work, I'll give you the whole story since I know you have the potential to do better than I can haha. A friend of mine suggested Paint Tool SAI (the binary tool is all you need) when I told her that I was interested in trying my hand at sprites. I used to edit sprites in MS paint as well, but I was always intimidated by those who created sprite work rather than edited. So I decided that it was high-time to pour what I had into it. The Warhammer thingy I showed must've taken me 15 hours of nothing but focus. It didn't help that I didn't sketch it initially haha... for the other one, the Nomad with the bow, that one didn't take as long since I had already sketched her design for a separate story, but it was still such a hassle. Ray took about five hours, but I would consider that fast haha. If I'm being honest, sprite work is just... beyond tiring. That said if you're willing to do it dot by bloody dot, I encourage it . Not that you'd have to since all your art is oozing with your personality already. I think the most trouble I had with sprite work was deciding on the colors, but I eventually got the hang of it haha. Thanks again! EDIT: I might as well show you some of the first pieces I made - you might be able to make use of the colors, because I recall having a difficult time with combinations hahaha - her name is Gondul and she's the main character of another story of mine, but I'm still formulating what I want to do with it haha x)

That's probably because I've always adhered to the same two separate styles since way back when I started making anything digitally now that I'm thinking about it. I've still got a fair assortment of old MS Paint files (in bitmap format, nonetheless) saved onto a flash drive and I was just looking through what I used to draw then, and I think I know why I feel so frustrated about my line work. Once I discovered how to illustrate without outlines, that's what I started doing more of and inevitably getting better and better at while my line art stagnated for a time until I started drawing the stuff that you saw in the beginning of my gallery. I was (and still am to a degree) find it hard to get precise shapes and forms to look right for whatever odd reason... might send you a PM early tomorrow to show some examples of my old stuff to show you what I mean. As for Gondul's color scheme, it seems pretty solid to me. Not to much to say here. As for the scenery piece, I want to analyze it further and show you what I would have done a bit differently as far as the colors are concerned (will probably edit this in tomorrow as well, as I'm no night owl and don't like staying up too late.) This is definitely going for a more atmospheric look, correct?

If I'm being honest Lucy, I wasn't sure where I was going with the scenery piece ; v ;... maybe a bit of Wild Arms 3 in there hahah, but other than that, I was practicing with the sprite art since it's one of the first I made. Dude, I'd love to hear about what you'd do different, I just wanna absorb all of this information like a sponge hahaha. And coming from you, I appreciate that you like Gondul's color scheme! And feel free to send a PM my way anytime you like x). I honestly know the frustration with lineart, I've had that sense of disappointment in me since I was a kid trying to draw sentai and getting so frustrated that I couldn't get the proportions right. The more we try, the better we get, and your work's proof of that . If you can look at all the art I've posted here, it's obvious that I've made so many glaring mistakes eheh, but this whole thing, it's a learning process that will probably take a lifetime. We'll just keep reaching newer heights! EDIT: I'm just going to add my art for Chapter One, Part Four here so I'm not always spamming haha xD

The first thing I've noticed in the original is that there's considerable amount of "white lighting" (where you just adjust the brightness/darkness of a particular color without changing the hue while there's evidence of warm lighting on the clouds. If you're going for a more of a sunset-like ambiance, you're going to be working with a consistent warm light source throughout the composition and will need to readjust the hue of whatever the light touches: a yellower hue for objects closer to the source and redder ones the farther away. For the sky, a gradient going from more reddish orange from the highest point to a yellower one towards the horizon is usually the standard way most folks approach a twilit sky; though, it doesn't have to consist of many dozen different hues, especially with this style. One thing I found particularly odd was the shading on the sand dunes versus the shading of the clouds; the lighter side of the dunes is redder than the shaded side which consists of a dark yellow, while the clouds are shaded the opposite way with the yellow acting as the highlight and the reddish color as the shadow. Yellow itself is an inherently lighter color than red or orange when placed next to each other. Yellow's typically used as highlight and darker colors are used for shadows and shading. If any of this went over your head, here's the edit that I made to the colors in this piece that may clear up some of the points I have attempted to explain: I've changed all overall colors in the image to conform to a warmer hue (yes, even the blue on the cape) to make it feel like everything's being lit by the same source of light. The change in hue and brightness of the rocks in the background demonstrate the idea of the changing light intensity with distance; the leftmost one being yellower and brighter than the rock on the far right side taking on darker and redder colors overall. You also may have noticed that I used more colors in the edit in general to achieve the desired lighting effect and made them more saturated. There's nothing wrong about using duller colors; it's just that more vibrant colors seemed more appropriate for the given situation (and are more attractive, as long as you don't oversaturate them all.) That's all I've got to say for now; otherwise, a pretty decent first go at a sprite scene. Keep up the good work your, again! Hmm, and I wonder what's behind you, Aster?...or who, I wonder? Resisting...urge...to...reference...that forsaken...JJBA meme...ugh...eff...
...I gotta purge this brain pollution from my head...

Aaaah this is absolutely excellent x). Thanks a whole bunch! I was afraid it might go over my head, but your explanation was pretty good, and the accompanying edit really helped! And you're right on the use of white lighting. I'm really glad you took the time to do this, because it helps out a whole bunch. Now I can just have a peek at this the next time I try anything including a background, and it's going to turn up so much better. I really appreciate this T v T

Your artwork is so good! Excellent linework, expressions, and uses of color. The way you lay things out really makes them feel solid, like they have a natural place in the composition.

I really appreciate that RI, I absolutely do . I would say that Lucina's work outclasses mine, as well as many others around, so you might wanna dig around a bit (eheh) and see what you find! This whole Station is a treasure trove of content. Loving the source material really does make all the difference when it comes to everyone's work here. And if you fancy yourself a story to disappear to, there are plenty out there as well! I would recommend Dashe's Press Start to Continue, but uh... just be prepared if ever hahahahah

While I haven't yet started because there's a lotta work, I'm placing in Chapter One, Part Five's art here as well, just as a little preview eheh x). I had thought to color this one but I figured it looked rather nice on its own ; v ; Keep staying safe guys!
