So, just to spread the word to those who also have a Tumblr account and/or browse Tumblr regularly, but haven't heard the news yet; The cesspool of the Internet has made plans to raid the site from July 20th-26th, doing everything they can to attack the community. These can range from sending malicious asks and submissions, to outright hijacking accounts and editing content to be malicious towards viewers. I've already made every precaution I could take, completely locking down my blogs by turning everything off, and deciding to avoid the site entirely for all of July and the first two weeks of August. I urge anyone who also uses the site to do the same for their safety. I know most of you may not see me as being anywhere close to a good person, but I genuinely cannot stand the idea of waging cyber warfare and potentially causing harm to hundreds or even thousands, just for some shits and giggles. Be safe, Legends Station.

I'm not into 4chan but I don't think they're bad as a group. From what I know they generally follow each other when a subject caughts their attention, it's generally by bad things but sometimes they do really cool things, for groups of people or for a lone person. I hope this doesn't begin a cyber war which end could be revive sopa or something.

...made plans to raid the site from July 20 th-26 thThey constantly make plans to raid. Most of the technically minded members have not only left that site, but left the community as a whole for a variety of reasons (boredom, politics, etc.) I'd even go so far to say the unscrupulous users of Tumblr are more a threat to the average net denizen than the unscrupulous users of 4chan. These can range from sending malicious asks and submissions, to outright hijacking accounts and editing content to be malicious towards viewers. So not at all different from what Tumblr users do to each other on a daily basis. I've already made every precaution I could take [...] deciding to avoid the site entirely for all of July and the first two weeks of August. If 4chan has convinced you (and others) to do this, then this is the single greatest thing they've done since the Scientology raids. I urge anyone who also uses the site to do the same for their safety. Safety, really? I mean, yeah, avoiding the site will do wonders for your outlook on life and your psychological health, but 4chan weren't and aren't the ones that make it so damn toxic to life. I genuinely cannot stand the idea of waging cyber warfare and potentially causing harm to hundreds or even thousands, just for some shits and giggles. I agree on this point, and it's all the more reason to leave Tumblr entirely and never, ever look back.

Since I started using Tumblr, there have been multiple supposed 4chan "raids." Maybe I don't frequent the kind of tags and blogs that they would target, but beyond the Chicken Little-esque warnings being reblogged, nothing really changed. Honestly, they really only care to target the Social Justice side of Tumblr. If you are not a part of that, you have nothing to worry about.
Honestly, there are so many anti-SJW blogs bickering with the SJW blogs that I doubt they could make an impact even if they wanted to.

Well, those are all pretty valid points. Though, I really don't care in the slightest about SJW blogs, just artists. That's probably the only reason why I ever bother with the site. Don't get me wrong, I can understand why you guys don't like it, but I personally wouldn't abandon the site entirely because of this kind of shit. That, and a majority of the artists don't use alternate sites like DeviantART, and the ones that do just have far less content on them.

Honestly, I use Tumblr for the same reason: artists. Heck, I am planning on making my own art blog soon (once I got some art to actually put on it). If I had to choose between DeviantArt and Tumblr, I'd choose Tumblr.
The worst I've seen out of these 4chan "raids" is a bunch of unpleasant images being spammed in popular tags. It never really bothered me too much, but maybe I am just immune to that sort of thing by now.

Seems we share the same mindset in that regard, then. I also have plans for my own Splatoon ask blog, but with my incredible procrastination powers, that has yet to happen. Still, even though we don't seem to mind the intentional misuse of tags, others might not handle it as well as we would. And that's what worries me, honestly. Although, I really shouldn't be concerned. It just bothers me that this crap happens because of some people's warped sense of schadenfreude.

lol what
No seriously, where have you heard this kind of shit on 4chan, 'cause I browse and post regularly on 4chan and I'd like to know. Is this /pol/ starting shit again? Cause if it's /pol/, nobody seriously expects any lasting damage from those psychos. Same with /b/, /b/tards are mooks who talk big game. Just ignore them and move on, man, they're just an insignificant (yet vocal) minority among regular 4chan anons. Most of us who do anon on 4chan know better than to start shit, 'cause we're the ones who just don't care or give a shit.
