Alright people, welcome to Secret Santa 2015! The holidays are coming and time is scarce for everyone, but we’re still going to continue our (now extremely strong) tradition of Secret Santa MML Art Exchange! Here’s the usual bulleted list of things to keep in mind:
- You don't have to be that great at art! If you aren't, then you're at an advantage! In order to ensure maximum fairness, everybody (including skilled digital or traditional artists) are challenged every year to go outside of their comfort zone in their choice of art medium so that overall quality of the art is the same, more or less.
- Art needs to be visual. This is primarily so that the art can be showcased as the main site's banner from the 24th through to the 31st. This rule can, however, be waived on an as-needed basis per member if the reason is important enough.
- No crossovers of any kind. This rule is likely to raise questions. You’re allowed to ask about anything you’re unsure of regarding crossovers, but the main gist is that we want to see pure MegaMan Legends fanart. That means no Original Characters, no self-inserts, no character that has not been revealed in the canon Megaman Legends universe. However, the artist may include some references / costume changes / elements if they so please, but they have to contribute to get the point of the request across. Nobody is allowed to make a non-Legends related request, or one that heavily references something completely different like Star Wars.
- We offer pretty badges! That’s right! This is your chance to add another (or your first) Secret Santa badge to your collection! There’s probably going to be more to come until we can figure out how to compress it all into one or two badges!
- We offer a special challenge! This time though, it’s going to be fulfilling an unfulfilled request from years past. Although 2014 was a perfect give-and-take year, the staff doesn’t want to keep requests unfulfilled longer than needed. Plus the wait for these requests will be paid off because if enough people enter the event and accept the challenge, unfulfilled requests may end up with one or two extra pieces! Isn’t that a good deal for patience?
- If your request doesn't get fulfilled, don't worry! As stated in the last bullet, we archive all requests, including unfulfilled ones. We promise never to keep you waiting forever for your request to be fulfilled because we’re the kind of people who see things through to the end!
- A note on gore and mature content: It’s generally inadvisable both to incorporate it into an assignment, and to request it. Despite this, nobody is stopping anyone from doing so. However, if anybody feels as if their request could be made into something undesirable in this way, you can add a No Mature Content tag to your request and it won’t count towards the 5 words. Any submitted assignments that break their NMC tag won’t be considered as valid.
Oh look, I’m out of bullets on the list. Alright then.
Our deadline for signing up will be Wednesday, December 9th. Leniency on this date may be possible, but for now, if I'm going to be the host, will be the most convenient day for me while still allowing the full two weeks for people to work on assignments. So approximately one MMLS-business week from now, everybody’s requests will be shuffled and matched with someone else, and you’ll have to create an art piece that is inspired by that person’s request. After that, you’ve got until December 22nd to turn them in via PM to me. After they get forwarded, they’ll magically start appearing as preview-banners on the main site from the 24th through to the 31st and will officially be revealed on the 25th in-thread.
Tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell your neighbors, tell anybody through whatever media you can if you know they like Secret Santa and want to be a part of this. I know we're cutting the assignment period a bit short right now, but let's try to do it for the sake of convenience!

Timeline:
Dec 5th - Dec 9th Sign-up period. Think of a request and post it in this thread. We want them to be fairly open-ended, so they must be 5 words or less. As a reminder, they must be MegaMan Legends relevant. If you want to aim for the premium badge, include that information after your prompt. Two requests will be sent to you.
Dec 10-22nd: Assignment Period. This is the period in which you will work on the request assigned to you to submit before the deadline.
Dec 24th: Preview banners appear on the main site (Also known as "The Day When F5 Was Smashed")
Dec 25th: Full versions of the assignments are released to the public, and all successful participants get badges.
