The title sounds a lot cooler than what it really is.Basically what Legacy Collection entails is a digital-only release of just the first 6 NES games with some extra modes and unlockable art, on the PS4, XBone, PC, and 3DS. I don't know about you, but I have that stuff already and more in Anniversary Collection. If this new producer is trying to win back the Mega Man consumer base, I'm thinking they're going to have to put at least a little bit more effort into it than that. I mean, even including 9 and 10 with that would have been a little bit interesting, but the way I see it, I'm kind of wondering who the target audience for this even is. Or if the Top Men just went, "Here, your budget for this game is 1,500,000 yen, do what you've gotta do." The 3DS release is probably the most confusing part of it. Didn't they port all of the NES classic titles to that already?

I could see the classic collection being a 150,0000¥ project. Its fairly cheap as budgets go, so a compilation is probably all that would finance.
I also agree that a simple compilation is probably not going to win any popularity points. It seems like it might be just the wrong kind of decision of what to do with the IP. People don't want the actual 'classic Megaman'; What they want is new Megaman that is like classic Megaman...but developers are usually pretty awful at understanding what their target audience actually cares about... largely because they tend to listen to the loudest part of their target market, who are usually the minority, and even if not, they're usually the ones that know the least about what actually makes things enjoyable.
It all leads back to "fans don't really know what they do want, but they know extremely well, what they don't want."

I'm actually curious to see Capcom's reaction if this "Legacy Collection" doesn't sell as well at their target quota turns out to be. If they use the poor sales as a reason to go out publicly and 'lament' the apparent disinterest in Megaman then I'm going to flip a table.
Still, after the anniversary collections that were released way back for the GameCube and Ps2, this comes off as a rather weak attempt to cash in on old titles.

I can't imagine there being much interest to new fans in a digital-only straight port. I've been saying for a while, they need to market to kids...like Mighty No. 9 is doing. I'm going to need to talk to some more gamer kids if I can get away with it without looking like a total creeper and find out where they find out about new games. Would an eight-year-old frequently browse any of these e-shops at all? Would tablet game ads be a better way to go? I read somewhere that kids actually play those dress-up games that one Vietnamese bot who came to MMLS was trying to advertise. I really don't think 8-bit is a good selling point for them either. A lot of them probably don't even know what that means.
If I had to guess, I'd figure the target audience is actually us. Which begs the question, "did they forget we already own this multiple times?"

I honestly don't believe I can comprehend the thought process of a group of people whose business strategy is to release the same games, intact of any substantial enhancements over and over again. Sure, Square Enix has released FFIV more times than should be legal, but at least they went through the trouble of remaking it from the ground up twice in this many times (One rerelease with redrawn sprites and another redone fully in 3D), and even rewriting the dialogue.
Capcom is under the impression that all you need to do to make a game fresh again is tacking on trophies and shiny new menu interfaces. Hopefully the seventh time we do it we'll make more money than before, and if that customer loyalty doesn't make it possible then we're clearly selling the wrong product and should do nothing build on it.

This seems an odd choice, might be the first of many 'collections' once they re-release more games. Though I am curious to see how well this would sell on all platforms, could be a nice chunk of change earned for Capcom. They might just make a new game from the profits of this, I'm slightly hopeful.

I've never seen a company use the profits from a rerelease collection to make a new game in the same series "because we just gave you your **** stuff from that series, when will you shut up!?"
Collections are like DLC. Low work, high profit potential. If we start seeing more collections, it will basically be a sign to stop paying attention to Capcom, because they've given up on new products.

Come on, break it up and get back on topic. Satoh isn't offended, was never offended, and wasn't trying to make you look like a bully. He's just often sarcastic. He even put a smiley with a tongue sticking out after it in the initial post, which should've tipped you off that it was sarcasm.
Now get back to talking about Legacy Collection before I have to start doling out infraction reports, alright?

The reason 9 and 10 won't be on this collection is that they aren't using the same engine that 1-6 do. It's actually an interesting attempt at emulating these games, but I do wish they'd go for an update and take out the darn slowdown that can happen when too much is on the screen at once.
