This includes signatures, avatars, adv mini pro, and the like. Teeny branches of this discussion have appeared in RTAN over the years, and in numerous other topics. How bout a hub? Here's your hub! And you even get postcount in here! Currently, my adv mini and my avatar are going hand in hand with each other. Adv mini's a well-done drawing of my MMO character hugging my best friend's MMO character. And my avatar is a sketch of that MMO character in a chibi form that is colored in such a way that it looked like a ghost to begin with. In addition, Here's the full version of my adv profile drawing. During earlier stages when I showed progress of this image in iScribble, Dashe made a comment where it looked as if both of the characters were wearing skirts. That still can't be unseen, even with the proper highlighting done on the shorts. As for the avatar, I made it extremely transparent to give it even more of a ghostly appearance, and so people can still clearly see my adv mini pro for when/if they have that enabled. Elsewhere, the ghost is a lot more noticeable, and... kinda not. But, it's okay. I just like having an avatar in places where I otherwise wouldn't if I were to go entirely adv mini-pro. My signature's still just the pr0 Flutter that Pitch sprited once; I figured it deserved better than to just fly along a single post in the iScribble thread, and I still haven't come up with any decent replacement for my signature, so I went with that. I even bothered to dig for it!

Taking this thread as a cue, I've removed all the Danganronpa stuff from my AMP and gone with something plain for a change. Experimenting with simple animated backgrounds. My original plan was to have much more detail in the animated background, but I couldn't convince the background to get smaller than 350KiB, so I had to settle for a very thin , horizontally repeated extract of the full image. I came up with a few work-around solutions, but AMP doesn't currently accept the necessary settings to make them happen, and implementing special settings just to make mine work is cheating. I do enjoy experimenting with the miniprofile, and especially having the miniprofile and signature "flow" into each other with aligned backgrounds and elements. Treating the two areas as one large L-shaped area takes a bit of non-standard thinking for design, but I find it's rewarding when it succeeds. The file size limitations are part of the challenge and force a very resource-conservative approach to everything. Large pixels, solid colours, limited palette, and horizontal lines are a must to be acceptable. It's nice to see what a lot of the others have done with it, even if it's a simple coloured background or treating it as an oversized 400x172 avatar. Perhaps I'm just biased, but it feels like there's a lot more personality and individualism in posts that take advantage of the posting space creatively as opposed to it it simply being a mechanism of communication. EDIT: It's a bit closer to the original idea now. Only works in Firefox because Chrome thinks it's too good for native APNG support ( thankfully there's a plugin for that!)

My AMP scared Kyle away. He can attest that he was too beta for it when I change it to something less unsettling and he comes back and finds the notification that he's been tagged here. I think I got it under 350KiB on my first try this time, though, so there's that!

I'm clueless about what this Advanced Mini Profile is, So somebody will have to enlighten me on that. But for the time being, my avatar is one of my two Robot Master OCs. The other six have yet to be inspired.

Seeing your AMP made me realize that he's just some goofy-looking schmuck. Anticlimactic much?!

The other six have yet to be inspired. Most of the info on adv mini profiles can be found here, a thread which is actually in the same board as this one. Essentially, it involves taking the space surrounding your name, badges, avatar, status, etc. on a post, and decorating it. It can be done with a solid color of your choosing, or by taking a background image and sticking it there, like what most of us have done. That page also tells you how to enable or disable advanced mini profiles; by default, they're off, so it's likely that you won't know what the heck we're talking about until you enable them for yourself and see what we've done for our mini-profiles. Then if you decide that you like the concept, there's a field under your profile settings dedicated to AMP's language; full details are again in that thread, provided by Chiz. It takes some getting used to, but it's fun to play with once you've got the hang of it. Taking this thread as a cue, I've removed all the Danganronpa stuff from my AMP and gone with something plain for a change. Experimenting with simple animated backgrounds. It's a really interesting effect. I actually have that plugin installed already because someone else from somewhere else had brought that to my attention. Look at it from my position, will you? The legends of Morova built up a certain mental image in my mind. Seeing your AMP made me realize that he's just some goofy-looking schmuck. Anticlimactic much?! Oh, you can't see the evil that the schmuck persona is hiding? I kinda can.

General Specific would definitely use it as an avatar. Maybe I should edit hellfire into the background. You're looking at a guy who will buy an ice cream cone, watch it melt, and gloat about how nobody got to eat any, after all.

After a couple hours of messing around in GIMP and re-uploading the image, I think I made a pretty good background for my AMP. Took quite a bit of trial and error to get all the borders to perfectly align with the white boxes, and I'm satisfied. Now all that's left is to wait for somebody to tell me how horribly off-center everything is because of a difference in screen resolution.

Now all that's left is to wait for somebody to tell me how horribly off-center everything is because of a difference in screen resolution. Or font settings. Or zoom settings. Or browser. Or if you ever earn any badges (and if badges are enabled or not in TF2 settings). Or if I'm logged in. Or if you're logged in...! When it does work, though, it's a nice effect. Unfortunately, having nice things makes you victim to the biggest problem with the internet: the NSA Youtube comments memes leaking into meatspace different renderers render differently. You can't even guarantee that the same version of the same browser for the same platform will render exactly the same on another computer without going out of your way to make very explicit the properties of all the elements involved, including the fonts you want used. A "predicable height" option would need to be included to make this sort of thing work most of the time. It's definitely something I'll keep in mind.

Dang, look at that. It looked fine to me, but Chiz found a way to mess it up! The more people that play around with it, the more ideas it gives Chiz. I should've started this topic a year ago.

Darn. So close, yet so far. Well, in the meantime, this will have to do. I mean, just look at how fresh and clean it is to me. On a side note, I'm hoping that title of mine becomes a more positive one sometime.

Yeah, Pearl from Steven Universe is the most alpha man of them all! I'm keeping that status until it wears off.
