This is a fairly specific topic but I was pondering it and figured Id ask yall what you thought.
One of the very few bits of official legends backstory we got from the devroom waa that carbons could get body modifications that would let the pop on different arms, legs etc.
Well Ira has some nebulous leg problems and the cure is some state of the art medical machines. After we donate that crap to the hospital the nurse says that Ira will be ready to walk soon and true enough just an hour of gameplay later shes all better and we should ' come visit her a-gain'.
So I was thinking is this the work of some motor nerve fixing stuff or does Ira just get new legs? No one else on Kattelox has any prosthetic looking parts so maybe Rock is the first to bring the technology to do this to Kattelox?

Your idea of Ira having Prosthetics is about on par as Dashe's theory on Tron being tethered to 42 lives. Extremely plausible due to lack of evidence to suggest otherwise.  Then there's the idea of "automail".  E: You could always make a short fanfiction about Ira gaining Prosthetics and how Rock reacts upon seeing them, since she's always wearing that PJ-type outfit whenever the player sees her in the canon!  |

They'd have to be prosthetics with very realistic-looking heels, because the back halves of her feet are still colored normally and you can see them around her slippers. Of course, we haven't really got any evidence contrary to the idea that the middle of a leg can't be replaced and leave both ends intact, as weird as it sounds. Maybe she just had a double knee replacement because they were stuck in the flexed position. It might actually be pretty likely that Kattelox lacked prosthetics tech before Mega Man paid for it. Wily's probably been missing that eye for a good while and seems to have done nothing about it even though depth perception seems like something you'd need if you were a sailor. Add to that the fact that Juno kills everyone every 100 years and I'm not surprised they don't seem to have that technology. I second the recommendation to write that fanfiction. Ira always seemed to want to travel and we've got the "Mega Man doesn't fix Ira's leg" scenario already. |

Well I looked at a picture of her and she still has flesh colored ankles but of course prosthetic could be tan. Really w don't even know if the Inafune and friends actually all ready conceived of this prosthetic concept when Legends 1 was made or if this was entirely invented by the MML3 team. I wouldn't rule it out for Legends 1 though. It's kind of the only way that Rock's buster and special weapon swapping would work, especially considering the powered buster. There is also the fact that Barrel (along with a partially metal skull) and Teisel have mechanical eyes. I think it makes some sense that this is the way Ira fixes her leg problem. It is an interest thought that maybe Megaman donates to bring this technology to the island, all for a little girl. Honesty I thing Amelia should have budgeted for it, I mean its pretty great for when you lose a limb.
Edit: I may write a little on Ira at some point, but for now I just working on the ole Barrel-Bluecher story. I've got a pretty good idea for an Ira drabble maybe.

For the prosthetics and limb-replacement issues I would like to draw your attention to a game called "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" (I promise to not go too off-topic)
In that game there is the main plot factor of augmentation (replacing organic parts with mechanical and artificial) however in that world. Half of the population seem to be against augmentation, saying things like "it's against nature" or something similar. I see no reason for this to be also applied to Halcyon Days as well. While having the capability to swap body parts, there could still be people against doing that and maybe Ira's parents were also that kind of people.
Another factor would be the fact that what Ira had to be operated on her nerve system instead, which couldn't be solved by simply swapping the legs, right?

Yes thats true. If its a nerve problem tgen the legs arnt really a problem. I dont know if there is alot of prosthetic based discrimination in the Halcyon. Mostly because no one ever seems to have a problem with it in the game. Perhaps it would fit better in HF's darker and edgier world. Its an interesting concept but look at a guy like Gramps. His prosthetics dont really seem like an enhancement, just an unfortunate necessity. I dont think anyone would judge him for that. Some might would judge diggers like Rock for his weaponized arm-swapping shinanigans but I dont see anyone having a problem with a wheelchair bound girl getting new legs. Who knows though, those identical fat ladies in Kattelox seem pretty gossipy.

I read through the transcript to see if there were any clues and looks like her leg problems were caused by whatever mysterious illness she had.  "Nurse Inside Ira's Room: One of my patients is this darling little girl...But she's very ill, and has lost the ability to walk...If we just had some more modern equipment here, we could probably cure her, but...I just wish there was something I could do for her..." One of the other nurses mention how everyone is usually very healthy on the island so I feel bad for Ira since she lost her ability to walk. But back to the mention of prosthetics I dug around in the artbook for the first game and found these nice images.   One good hit and his arm could just go to pieces. |

That doesn't explain his human limbs while he's Apron Trigger for the very brief time in Legends 2. xD
If I had to guess, that booklet is just giving a close-up view of what each part looks like, with a living Volnutt posing for the camera due to their lack of foreplanning.
When was the booklet made?

Alright. Makes sense, I suppose. In a world covered by endless water where people look like humans and are comfortable with chopping off their limbs and replacing them with interchangeable fakes feels kinda... unrealistic, and it's not something that's really touched on much if you don't think a whole lot about how switching special weapons with Megaman really works, or about Ira's surgery. So okay. Definitely not my forte in Legends. |

What I'm wondering is how the heck would they swap in biological-looking ones after that? Even if they just screwed in a normal arm by the shoulder for Mega Man's apron outfit, those joints operate pretty flawlessly. And judging by those swimsuit BN Motives from Xover, it doesn't look like Carbons are born with easily detachable joints. My conclusion? They're all crazy! |

The Terminator series comes to mind, actually. Maybe all of Terra are just terminators looking to live normal lives and forgot they're robots.

Replacing limbs is a normal part of their society, like buying a protective case for your cell phone, just a normal everyday thing. As for the whole 'seamless' look for Rock's limbs could be nanomachine skin. I can't think of anyone else who swaps limbs like him, maybe it's the ancient's only club? |

I would say guys like Bola ans Klaymoor do it too. I really wonder what Klaymoor looks like under there.
Im not sure I would say everyone is already like this though. It may actually take technology and surgery instead of having easy swap arms. If Carbons were already like that I would think more npc would have them for a number of reasons.
Although there is a scene in legends 2 where it is explained to the people on the sulpherbottom what 'carbons' are and Barrel is like 'oh well would look at that? We're artificial!' Its an oddly cheery responce. I guess if you had swapable body parts such a revelation wouldnt be so shocking.

I'm guessing the Master genetically modified the carbons so their bodies won't reject metal objects, that or their prosthetics are made out of carbon too.
I remember they said back at the DevRoom that it's typical for carbons to modify their bodies, so I'm guessing there's not such thing like discrimination here. Look at Lex Loath, he seems to have metal prosthetics for fashion, just as when somebody rich decides to replace some teeth for a gold one.
Back on topic, there's the possibility that some prosthetics are natural looking, made for the carbons that need an implant for non heavy work. Ira's new legs may be that kind of prosthetics.
