So on my free time yesterday (thanks to school closings) I created a little treat for you guys. It's an audio modification for Mega Man Legends that replaces some of the low quality BGMs with higher quality versions of them. (22khz to CD quality 44khz) Hopefully when the tools become available, Unfinished Business might also become a mod that enhances the atmosphere of the game, but for now, it is simply an audio patch. More InfoDownload (v0.9.9m)
Download (v0.9.9m ReplayGain Fix, fixes BGM quietness to an extent)Enjoy!

I've taken the liberty of downloading the file ( this one, MD5 of b258ddf40d6e7dc7bceebc057708280a), and it looks legit to me. Cracking it open in 7-zip, it contains 21 .WAV files in /BGM/ (MUSIC00, 04, 06, 07, 0A, 0B, 0C, 0D, 10, 11, 25, 27, 28, 2A, 2C, 2F, 30, 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D.WAV) as well as a MEGAMAN.CFG, which is what is advertised. I have not examined any part of the NSIS installer, however. This message is not intended to accuse you of anything, wintermute; it's just that our community (as with many) have very strong aversions to downloading random .EXE files off the internet from people with whom they're not fully familiar. It would probably be best if future releases were in a .ZIP, or some other archive format that is less of a security risk than an installer. It would also help those who are trying to use the game with WINE or a similar Win32-compatibility project. It's nice to see someone working with DASH1PC, though. Perhaps looking at making your mod compatible with both the American/Chinese and the Japanese version would be something to look into. They're largely identical, although there are a few file organization differences between US and JP that make them not exactly 1:1 (and this is before considering file contents). Let me know if you're ever willing to share your notes on the game. EDIT: I pity the fool who wears headphones while playing your patch, though. Especially that MUSIC3D.WAV for what I believe is the game over audio. Sounds like a runaway chainsaw being slowly starved of power.

Especially that MUSIC3D.WAV for what I believe is the game over audio. Sounds like a runaway chainsaw being slowly starved of power. First, I am going to make future releases be of the RAR archive format. Nice compression plus security equals a good package for distributing future versions of the mod. Second, I am glad you mentioned the Game Over audio. That is a very sly reference to System Shock 1. That same theme plays when you die and get revived, or completely die in the floppy version. The game over sequence in System Shock is very unique, you basically get transformed into one of an enemies' parts, as the protagonist's skin crackles and deforms, and you get hung by that machine ready for the new you to be controlling it. (At least in the CD version of the cutscene.) VERY creepy. EDIT: I jut replaced one of the dungeon themes with the Zero Hour song from the Freedom Fighters OST. Very fitting. Should I add it to another version of this mod? EDIT2: Since there is no dedicated audio to the city in the beginning of the game (Just The Apple Market Theme) I decided that for the next version of the mod there would be an alternate MUSIC07.WAV file you can install that is more ambient oriented, and more fitting to the city segments of the game, which comes from the GTA 1 ambient audio track. There is a really weird trend where if a PS1 game has redbook audio it also has WAV files of those redbook audio tracks. That is something I also noticed in the PS1 port of Revolution X. (Yes, I have a physical copy of that game, don't judge.) EDIT3: I have extracted all of the audio data from the XA files of the PS1 version of MML. I also extracted a high audio fidelity of the Capcom intro from the same game. If anyone is able to help me in finding each music track in the XA tracks, I can send you the RAR file. Hopefully when a MML WaveBank repacker comes out I will be able to replace some of the PC voices with the higher fidelity PS1 voices. As for EDIT1, I will be placing the track as an alternate choice for that BGM.

Nice going. I don't know too much about mods, but it looks like you put a lot of work into this.

I have a new (still not perfectly finished) version of Unfinished Business (now v0.5.5) right here! Also, new game over theme!
Look back at the newly edited OP for a download.
EDIT: Mega Man Legends - Unfinished Business is now technically complete, as it has replaced almost every piece of BGM, and it is at v0.9.9m. The m means that it is a strictly music replacing version of the mod. This time, the songs come from a PSF rip of the MML soundtrack, and they are converted to WAV using Foobar 2000. The BGMs are now quieter, but hopefully it still goes well with the gaming experience.
Look back at the newly edited OP for a download, as always.
EDIT: Looking back at the quieter recordings, I decided to add some ReplayGain to the tracks to spice them up a bit. This is to combat the quietness of the original recordings. So I recently created a ReplayGain fixed version of the mod.
