"A test?!" Mega Man groans. "I can't believe after all this time you don't trust my experience enough that you'd be able to explore this place with me without testing me on it!" He's a little embarrassed that Roll would sink to that level, but for what it was worth, it didn't surprise him much, either. "Never mind," he adds before she has a chance to give him a lecture. He starts heading up the stairs and listens hard for any sign of sound from the Reaverbot Gramps picked up. "I could definitely use a Reaverbot fight right now."

Mega took the lead as the pair continued up the winding ramp. They were approaching halfway up after nearly three full revolutions around the inside of the tower, and from here, it was possible to discern that there were only approximately three circles upwards before the ramp entered the top room. It was slightly darker as well, the inside of the tower was only lit by daylight entering through the front arch and reflecting off of the ocean water below. Though it continually grew darker, it was still possible to see that the center of the tower's roof extended downwards in a rounded, inverted pyramid. Looking down, the roof seemed similar in shape to the underwater portion of the tower...
Gramps' voice crackled in just them. "Mega, Roll. Something in the tower has just activated. Remember how I said the walls were filled with machinery? Some of it just turned on... It's impossible for the scanners to detect exactly what it does... Be careful."
As he finished talking, a drilling sound began. One by one, starting at the bottom far below them and working their way forward, small drills started to drill through the wall just below the ever-present line. As they crept through their holes, they angled themselves and extended downwards, making contact with, and drilling into the floor. As the first drill did its work, a crack shot outwards from it, crumbling the path radiating outwards. As the chunks of stone fell, Mega and Roll knew there was no time to lose. If they fell, their one shot at unlocking the secrets of the tower would fall with them...
Three loops to go.

Now this was more like it! He'd been so excited to get to explore something new, and up until then there hadn't been much to see or do at all. "RUN FOR IT!" Mega Man shouted as he grabbed Roll by the arm and scrambled as fast as he could up the stairs.

"Ack! Careful, Megaman! You nearly yanked my arm out of its socket! I can run pretty fast, but you're still faster than me! You were hot on my heels back at the Kattelox Apple Market!" Roll protested, as she worked to get her momentum up with Megaman's, since she was almost literally being dragged up the stairs.
"I was scanning for any doors in the vicinity and of course drills had to start making the tower's staircase crumble! My little joke-test has turned into a literal nightmare!" she continued as they ran higher and higher and higher up the staircase. Roll was amazingly good at talking while running.
"I hope this fight with the reaverbot ends up being a quick one, or we may not be able to get out of here in time! We're almost at the top!" Roll finished, panting as she ran. Megaman was still clenching her arm.

"I'm sure it wasn't your fault!" Mega Man reassured her as he pulled her along. He wasn't about to risk letting her fall too far behind. It was a long way back. "There's no way this tower could've heard you bring up drilling the floor to hit that switch and done what you told it to!"

Though the drills were quite efficient at destroying the ramp, they were not incredibly fast. The floor had started collapsing from the very bottom, and had made its way up 2 full loops, but Mega and Roll were fast approaching the final stretch. It was dark up here, and looking down, the water was nearly 150 feet below, a fall from this high would be difficult to survive, even with advanced armor.
As the two rounded the final curve, they looked to see that the path which they had assumed went into an upper room instead ended in a spike covered wall.
Roll and Mega came to a stop at this juncture, when through the semi-darkness, a dozen reaver eyes lit up from across the room. It was too dark to see precisely what the bots looked like, but the glow from their eyes illuminate what appears to be a pair of bat-like wings.
And then, the wall started moving. Not retracting, or opening, rather, advancing... The wall at the top of the ramp with its long stone spikes moved steadily closer to Mega and Roll, while from the darkness, the glowing eyes drew ever closer...
Gramps comes in through the radio, sounding quite desperate,"Mega, Roll! That wall is being pushed by the medium reaver! It's designed to push you off the path. It doesn't look like there's any way around, you'll have to go through him to get to the top!"
The floor is two loops away from you.

"Sounds like it's up to me!" declared Roll, raising her now-spinning drill arm. She held it forward, and inched her way closer, until the drill started making contact with the reaverbot's wall.

"Roll! Keep it up!" Mega Man shouted. There really wasn't a lot he could do at that point, but he fired a few shots at the batlike Reaverbots in the room with them.

The reaver that had been pushing the wall let out a deafening roar when it saw that Roll was drilling through the shield. The bot gave a quick shove, knocking Roll back and causing her to lose her balance. She managed to remain on the platform with some help from Mega Man, but she noticed that the ground behind had been quickly gaining on them. It was less than a full loop away from them, with no sign of stopping. Roll quickly sized up the spiked shield that stood between them and whatever awaited them at the top of the tower. The wall was several inches thick, and was too heavy to move. The wall extended over a foot off of the ledge, leaving it impossible to go around. The only way to avoid a potentially fatal fall when the ground gave up was to go through the shield, so Roll got back to work drilling away the spiked wall shield, desperately trying to enlarge the hole she had made so that she and mega could jump through it.
Mega on the other hand had been doing his best to dispatch the incoming bat-reavers. Their wings gave them greater mobility when compared with other flying bots though, so hitting them at a distance proved difficult. The wall Roll was drilling suddenly lurched, causing Roll to stumble backwards, but Mega steadied her with his free hand. She went right back to drilling, and he went back to firing, leading his shots randomly, hoping for a hit. He recalled that Gramps had mentioned their similarity to Foo-Roos, if this were true, then the bats were flying close enough together that if he hit one, he may be able to trigger a chain reaction and take out the rest...
All the while the ground slowly crumbled towards them...

"This is intense!" Roll exclaimed over the roar of the drill chipping away the shield.
"I'm not sure if I'm drilling so we can attack the reaverbot, or to save our lives anymore! It feels almost like both! It's exhilarating! I should come with you on digs more often, Megaman!" she shouted, continually pressing the drill forward while sometimes adjusting to make the hole bigger.
"It looks as if we can fit through now! Let's see what the turtle inside the shell looks like! Probably not so tough now that it doesn't have a wall to push us with anymore!" Roll stated mockingly.

"Less talking, more running!" Mega Man shouted as he shot a few rounds from his Spread Buster out at the bats, hoping the blast radius from the bombs would catch and none of them would chase the two of them through the wall, and ushered Roll through the hole in the shield.

The ground had already caught up to them, a sheer drop to the water below only five feet behind them. The drills were digging into the ground at Mega's feet as Roll shouted her success at getting through. Mega made sure She went through first, normally he would have scouted out the area to be sure that whatever reaver was waiting for them wasn't preparing an ambush, but there wasn't time. He reasoned that no matter how bad the reaverbot ahead could be, it would be safer with him than falling 150 feet...
Mega Man let loose a flurry of shots from his spread buster as he turned, hoping to hit one of the bats. He dove through the hole before he could see if any had been effective, but a series of explosions from the other side of the wall told him that at least one had.
The area Mega and Roll were now in was quite dark, the only light source was far below and blocked by a wall with a small entry hole in it. As predicted, there was a room at the top of the tower, the floor was level and stretched out as far as the tower itself did. It was possible to hear the medium reaver that was lurking in the room with them, however in the near total blackness of the room, seeing it was not so easily done. It seemed to be somewhere in the middle of the room.
Then Mega noticed something, a glowing green light on the wall across the way, nothing like a reaver's eye, more like the kind of light one would see on an elevator control pad in ruins...

"Hey Roll," he whispered. "See that green light over there? I think it leads to an elevator! We might be able to sneak through here if we split up and travel along the perimeter. I'm not sure we should fight whatever's in this room if we can't see what we're doing. I could take it down if there were a lightswitch around here, but...I don't know. So far this tower has been pretty empty."

"Y'know Megaman, your eyes can dilate until you're capable of seeing just about anything in the dark just as long as there's the slightest hint of light!" Roll responded in her normal tone, completely oblivious to the fact that Megaman was whispering.
"I bet if we approach the elevator, it'll become closed off or something, and then we'll get to fight whatever's hiding in this darkness! I'll bet a light source will appear and some alarm will sound too!" Roll continued, getting a little excited at the thought of her first boss fight by Megaman's side.
"Just remember, I probably only have about half the vitality that you have, but I still have a super Kelvar Jacket, so things should be just fine! I'm going to be all up in that Reaverbot's business to show it what the Casketts are made of!" she said with a proud grin, striking a pose with the drill arm in the darkness. She realized how silly that probably was since Megaman probably couldn't even see it, and dropped it almost as quickly as it came.
"Ahem, uh, yeah. I guess the best thing we can do at this point is approach the elevator. Let's go!" She finished, tugging Megaman toward the elevator this time before Megaman could protest or tug her first.

"Shhhhhhh!" Mega Man whispered in her ear as sweat poured down his face. She was yanking him pretty quickly, and he could only go so fast before his footsteps would start echoing all over the place. And while he had some pretty loud footsteps, even they paled in comparison with how loud Roll had the potential to get when she got really excited about something. "Be quiet or it'll hear you!"
