Sorry for not being hyped. Well, I can say that Saphire was the first Pokémon game that I played (not beat, only got to capture the Legendary and an Articuno *felt like a waste of Master Ball*)
Also It just feels like they are making more and more remakes as time goes by (I'm counting ever since Fire Red/Leaf Green). Honestly, I am not sure if I like that.

Man, I really should get X by now... I hope the Hoenn remakes bring back some old features like seals and walking together with a pokemon, I liked those.

Finally, a Pokemon game for a real ALPHA MAN! Ruby totally should've been Beta Ruby.

This doesn't leave much room for an Emerald port. Seeing as Sapphire is the beginning, whilst Ruby is the end.

I thought those two were supposed to be the weak ones that everyone disliked though...

Weak ones? Groudon and Kyogre, you mean? Kyogre's actually fairly vicious; with Drizzle and that huge Sp. Attack stat, it's actually one of the more dangerous Uber Pokemon. Imagine this: Kyogre, an Uber Pokemon with these stats: Has the ability Drizzle, which (although the ability doesn't say) effectively boosts the power of water-type moves by 50%, due to the effects of rain. So already, any special water-type attack launched by Kyogre has a power of 225 when you take stats into consideration. So, take into consideration the move Water Spout and Hydro Pump. Water Spout's got a power of 150 (and an accuracy of 100%!) if Kyogre's hp is full, so that's pretty well an instant KO for any pokemon that doesn't resist water type attacks, unless its name is Blissey. Hydro Pump has a base power of 120 but doesn't have its power modified by remaining hp. With all of these modifiers in mind (On top of STAB), Kyogre's probably one of the most dangerous Pokemon in the Ubers tier. Here's a couple other things that go well with it: Ice Beam and Thunder. Ice Beam deals with dragon-type Pokemon, and Thunder gets its accuracy boosted to 100% in the rain, so it's obviously a staple for Kyogre. All of this paired with Choice Specs or Choice Scarf (which boosts sp. atk / speed respectively by 50%) can make Kyogre an incredibly deadly or incredibly fast threat. Kyogre's not exactly the equivilant of weak. But Groudon, on the other hand... All he's got is Swords Dance and Rock Polish. Kyogre can pull off scary KOs in just one turn, whereas Groudon really can't. So Groudon's definitely the weaker of the two.

I think he means the weakest games in the series... Personally I do think they are, but even the weakest were pretty fun with abilities, secret bases, berry planting, contests, 2-on-2 battles, Poke-Nav rematches, etc.

Indeed. As with most Pokemon games I never got very far into Sapphire, but I've heard in the years since that it and Ruby are considered to be the weak link in the series by the fanbase. It seems weird that they would remake those...although I guess the better preceding games have already been remade.

Wait, wait, I just wanted to announce the game. Why does it merit making a new thread from my post? ._.;

Because a Pokemon announcement warrants a thread, because MMLSers tend to like Pokemon, and because I don't like seeing popular topics get buried in giant megathreads.

I adored the Hoenn series, to be honest. I knew I wasn't going to be able to stop playing Generation III right from the moment I tried it out while at a baseball game on someone else's GBA; ended up buying it in the same month back in those days.
I don't think it was all that weak at all; but I'll just have to give an official say of whether or not I get that same feeling from playing through this remake when it comes out.

I learned to appreciate it later on, but not being able to import my Silver team or catch 'em all at the time really sucked back when it came out. They also threw in a bunch of new mechanics and extra HMs, not to mention the contests, so that might've turned off some fans, too.

After months of hearing "HOENN CONFIRMED!" I admittedly thought this was a hoax at first. I was pleasantly surprised to see it isn't.

I got super excited when this was announced. I blame Pokemon Ruby for relapsing into liking pokemon again.
