Can't say I'm surprised with this the way they've been listening so intensely to their consumers over the past few years. Capcom has a bit over 150 million dollars left to their name as of now, which isn't much at all for a game development company aiming to shell out AAA Resident Evil titles. They're talking about making the leap to further exploiting DLC and focusing on mobile gaming. The way I see it, what with the consumers' general opinions on DLC and all, they're not going to last much longer. Then again, that might be wishful thinking on my part. Wishful thinking set to The Plagues from Prince of Egypt. Stephen Schwartz is the bomb.

Capcom has officially gone off the deep end. Honestly, I haven't really cared too much for the majority of stuff they've put out as of late, and they're more or less dead to me already. As sadistic as this sounds, I'm looking forward to watching them crumble.

W-what? They're actually planning to focus on creating paid DLC during the early stages of game development...?! That's just... all kinds of wrong. Whyyyyyyyyyyy? If you're going to make the extra content, have the decency to include it with the original game, or make it free.
Yeah, no. Sorry, Tsujimoto. You're after signing Capcom's own death warrant with that sentence. Personal grievances aside, Capcom has been too fucky with their customers in the past few years.

Given the circumstances, I can assume they won't last more than another year or two if they keep going in the direction they're going. And what direction would that be? Downhill. My only concern at this point is their obvious plan to cling onto the Blue Bomber and drag him down to hell with them like the stuborn corporate bastards they are.

Predicting their own downfall. Can't say I'm terribly sad.

I hope they make nothing off the DLC, watching capcom run into the ground will be great. Even though that would leave 0 hope at all for legends 3

guys guys... you're forgetting something... EA is the 3time reigning world champion of "worst business" and they're still releasing games.

If push comes to shove, and they go the way of THQ, I'd rather see them get bought up by someone who still knows their stuff rather than go belly up completely.
If they go bankrupt, the company will fold, all employees good and bad will be jobless for a good amount of months, and each of their IPs will be auctioned off for a long amount of time until a bunch of shady banks can bid the highest. Nobody knows if licenses like Megaman or Resident Evil would be bought up by their original creators, each of which now have their own studios, or if a bigger corporation would buy them up. You wouldn't wanna see EA buy up Megaman and turn him into a generic space marine would you?
Meanwhile if the entire company gets sold lock stock and barrel, it will live on as a subsidiary. Nobody will lose their jobs, no franchise will get sold off by multiple different banks, the Capcom brand stays alive for nostalgic purposes, the only change would be that they're now under the control of a company that listens to their actual audience. Unless of course Konami buys them up, in which case they just might not do diddly squat with the licenses they bought. *cough* Bomberman *cough* Or if someone like EA or an evil bank buys them up, to further "westernize" (usually slang for "suck the fun out of") each franchise more than even Capcom's doing right now. Less fun than mediocre doesn't fix mediocre.
If they do go under, maybe someone like Nintendo could buy them up since they have the money. Or perhaps LEVEL5? They're still kind of small, but they can really suck you into buying whatever they have. Like Capcom used to.

If I had to bet on any Japanese company going under in the next generation, it would be Square-Enix for the way they've completely misinterpreted their fans over the course of the previous one. Capcom still has a few hits left that they haven't ruined like Monster Hunter that will keep them rolling, but I'd expect them to start doing the iOS-heavy stuff themselves.
That said, it's kind of sickening to see the 3DS doing so well and to barely see these companies putting out titles that would do well on it, Monster Hunter notwithstanding. Heck, Nintendo had to bring over Bravely Default (a Final Fantasy-like title that's actually good) from Square because they flinched.
As for EA, they'll survive because they can get people to buy Madden and FIFA every single year, but they are another terribly ran company.

It's probably better Capcom takes a while to fizzle out. If Inafune has any hidden intention to buy the Mega Man IP then he's got a lot of money to save up, and making a profit takes time.

Right now all we could do is just sit back in our seats and watch their stability melt away like a candle.

I'd rather see Capcom get on track than fall apart. Same thing with Square.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Capcom holding the rights to the Mega Man games? If Capcom were to go bankrupt, what would happen to the same rights? Could Keiji get them back? And before you think about it, I'm in no way wishing for them to collapse. xD

If they did, I think it would be similar to when THQ went bankrupt. Their properties would be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
