Can someone give me a detailed explanation of where the items are to get the shining laser? Also, how far in the game do I have to be to get it?
Thanks in advance.

It's not even that good in this game.. Anyway, three parts: X-Buster, Weapon Plans, Prism Crystal.
The X-Buster you get from Jim and the Gang in their clubhouse, out behind City Hall in Clozer Woods. Weapon Plans are found behind one of the breakable walls(Drill Arm) in the ruins. (doesn't really matter which, you'll need to hit 'em all for the last part anyway) And the Prism Crystal will be given to you by a girl in a green dress after you give ALL the museum items to the Curator in Uptown Kattelox.

LOLOLOLOLOL, did you say is not good? It's almost a cheat weapon, it pulverizes any enemy in seconds! I beat Juno in less than 20 seconds with the fully upgraded shining lazer, and Bruno cannot even shoot a missile before i own him... The shining azer is one of the best weapong in MML, power, range and energy.

They made it a helluva lot stronger in Legends 2. The Active Buster costs more to upgrade in Legends 1, and as far as I could tell from some quick testing, was more powerful too.

It was really beefed-up in Legends 2, but I don't think the Active Buster was really more powerful. Even if it were, you're talking Rapid Fire versus a Constant Stream type attack. I don't think Active Buster's Rapid/Attack combo quite balanced out enough to make it more powerful than, or even as powerful as the Shining laser.

You have something there.
Collectively the Active Buster Stats PWN Shining Laser's. But Active Buster has a little bit less than MAX Attack, where Shining Laser's Attack is Full(oddly enough the only other Special Weapon with Full Attack is the Spread Buster..). However, where Active Buster has Full Stats for everything else, Shining Laser's Range Rapid and Special pale greatly in comparison(Yes, I know you can't upgrade the latter two). Range looks like half of the Active Buster's, Rapid maybe a third, and Special a quarter.
I tested 'em both against Juno myself. Took me about two minutes to clear him with the Shining Laser, and about two and a half with the Active Buster(Hard Mode, mind you). Shining Laser packs more of a punch, Active Buster is more well rounded.

Whoa...the drill isn't found till the end of the game. I guess I'll have to progress with something else. I'm playing the N64 game and right now I'm trying to beat the game on hard in under 8 hours to get the stuff. I'm at 3 hours and I'm at the first boat battle. What special weapon should I get for now until I get the awesome shining laser?
BTW green, I know about the comic you're supposed to give to the gangsters at there hideout. I read in a FAQ that it's near the junk shop house near the clozer ruins, but I don't see it there!

I actually got through hard mode in under six hours with a beefed-up buster gun and the maxed-out vacuum arm. The vacuum arm makes getting refractors to power up your buster way easy. I don't think I used special weapons (for attacking) at all. Try powering up your range, energy and attack as high as you can, and get a lot of canteens. That should get you through just fine.

Good idea, but I only have 2 slots to beef up my buster gun. Where can I get more? I know at the end of the game I had 3, but is it possible to get more? EDIT: Also I don't think I really need the vacuum arm. To get money I do that "Kick the ball at the dog" minigame over and over, and get 4100 Zenny every 30 seconds.

Yeah, you can't get the Shining Laser til before the Bruno fight. Not without cheating anyway, and the cheat you'd be looking for I believe involves beating the game in under 8 hours. Catch 22. ^_^
I don't think the Comic shows up until after you've done the other two things at the clubhouse, but I don't remember. I've never had trouble finding it, it's just a short distance from the club house, take a closer look. Look all the way around it. I dunno. XD
I'd do what Miss Dashe says. No sense in running around grabbing insane amounts of Zenny to enhance weapons - especially if you're doing a speedrun. The Buster parts are available for fractions of what Weapon upgrades go for. The Vacuum Arm's really just about all you need. (sidenote: the same's just about true for Legends 2)
EDIT: I think the Joint Plug(3 Buster Parts) is in the ruins you're headed for. Yeah. MMHP says so anyway. Lake Jyun Subgate.

I remember the comic being easy to get. It was always the stag beetle that gave trouble- until I found out that it was near the ruins where you find the Powered Buster. I think the comic is behind the Yass Plains junk shop.

D'oh.
I said Clozer Woods, didn't I? I meant Yass Plains. I took a look on one of my files where I wouldn't have gotten the comic, and I didn't find it. I think it's because the club house isn't built, but it should be out by that Junk Shop in plain sight. I found it by accident the first time, waaay back when.

Not without cheating anyway Indeed, with gameshark codes i once tried, it took me 30 minutes to finish the game.

The Laser's range isn't all that good, but other than that, the attack and energy are plenty nice enough to make the weapon undeserving of a "not that good" rating. The Active Buster may be better in some situations, but that doesn't make the Laser bad, by any means.
You can also get the Drill Arm, and subsequently the Laser a bit earlier with the trick to skate through the walls in the ruin.

You're distorting what I say, just a bit. I would like to point something out:
In Legends 2, there is virtually no comparison. Max any other weapon out, a fully powered Shining Laser destroys it. (still boring as hell conceptually..) In Legends 1, there is comparison; hence "not that good in this game." The range is the only noticeable flaw I know(mostly because you can't upgrade the others, so there's nothing to compare them to).. but now I'm half tempted to try the Spread Buster because of its full Attack stat. (of course, you can always just claim I'm BSing, trying to cover my ass.. for the most part I am)
