So because I want to hear Dashe's embarrassing story about what he did when he beat MML, I am starting this new thread. As I said in my intro thread, I will admit to crying after beating Legends the first time...and maybe the second and third time too... When I see all the townspeople waving goodbye to me in the Flutter, I lose it. And of course, the end credits keep me at it. Any other cryers out there? I won't judge you. Dashe - You're next!

Well, can't say I cried...but the ending to MML1 is one of those endings I really got into and do quite admire. Juno wasn't some kind of over-the-top, world-threatening villian, but the fact that he's so calmly out to destroy the people and the island you worked so hard to understand and help really gets the player personally invested in his defeat. And of course, after the final battle you get to talk to everyone, and the more you've done for the island the more people there are/ the more fondly they talk about Megaman. It's one of those little things developers can do in a game that really leaves an impact on a player. (The credits music is actually a piece that still comes to me whenever I have to say goodbye to friends I won't see for a while; it feels conclusive while being quite upbeat and forward-looking.) And of course, just so things don't get too overly emotional/reflective, you have the Bonne's little last laugh after the credits. It's all masterfully played, really- a very strong ending to a simple yet finely crafted game. Hey Dashe, she's calling your bluff! I didn't know new members had become this audacious. >

If Blues can take Dashe's turn, then I'm doing it too.
How I reacted when I beat MegaMan Legends? I didn't react in any abnormal way. I was a bit happy for the fact that I had another game in my list of "beaten games", but that's it. I just waited for the sequel, which I knew would arrive for due to the ending, in the same way I waited for each new MegaMan X game. I just played other games in the meantime.
I know. The time you took to read that was something you are not going to get back. Anyway, it's Dashe's turn now. But I bet (150 Chizbucks) that someone else is going to post next instead.

Bluff? That was no bluff! This place could certainly use more proactivity from its members, even if I have to hoard old, weird stories about my history with Mega Man Legends just to wring it out of 'em. Doing bold, audacious, daring things that actually aren't that bold or daring if you think about it hard enough, shaking up the lifeless spirit of the place without resorting to making a load of trouble for me, all in the...
...Never mind. The speech can wait.
For anyone unfamiliar with my first venture into the Legends series, I ended up borrowing Mega Man Legends 1 from my cousin during the summer of '98 and pretty much played it as close as you can get to nonstop. Since it was the summer where those boy bands of the late 90s peaked, and since having your own CD player wasn't a thing, I had to play the game with my sister's Backstreet Boys' Milennium, and eventually her copy of N*SYNC's debut album playing and the soundtrack muted.
That's not the embarrassing part, though. My history with the Backstreet Boys and Mega Man Legends 1 has been out in the open pretty much this whole time.
When I beat Mega Man Legends 1, it was sometime in July, I was eleven years old, home alone, and I was hyped up on Surge. Remember Surge? That Coca-Cola drink that was rebranded later as an energy soda because it was so caffeinated? Yeaaaaaah. That was the kind of state of mind I was in when, after sixty hours of gameplay WITH the hint book, I was in. I'd also grown oddly attached to that N*SYNC album in a kind of weird boy band sort of Stockholm Syndrome way, so once the scene with the Bonnes and the "To Be Continued..." message popped up I figured I'd burn off this relentless energy and excitement by jumping on the couch to some of my sister's music.
To make a long story slightly less long, I ended up breaking the couch. Ironically enough, I was so used to things I liked getting canned even then that I didn't take the "To Be Continued" at face value and assumed they'd just make the one game. The ending was satisfying enough and I was just REALLY glad that the sixty hours (and then some, considering how often I got slaughtered) I'd sunk into the game actually paid off, because it actually was like I'd helped everyone on that island. I even listened at all of the doors before I headed back to the Flutter.
So yeah, that's the story of how I beat Legends for the first time on a sugar high and then broke a couch. I'm not sure what my mom did about that and probably blocked it from my memory. I bet it involved taking away my Pokemon or something.

So... you were just a normal kid, Dashe? I broke a huge plastic box and my PS2 controller when I 100%'d Budokai 3. Stuff like that happens during sugar-rushes. My reaction to MML1's ending was pretty much; "Oh. This is nice." The end.

I don't remember much, as i'm pretty bad when it comes to recalling older memories that are small. So mind me if I lack any details.
It was around early 2000 I believe. MM64 (AKA MML1) came out around this time if I remember right, and I had gotten the game for christmas with a handfull of other N64 and GBC games. Since this wasn't that far off after christmas, I had also gotten a Polaroid Camera at the time as a gift. Back at the time I had tried taking pictures of the TV, of games I had on. Mainly things like mario and such which was my biggie thing at the time. Didn't come out that great though, as I had left flash on stupidly. So I thought a polaroid camera with flash off would work better. And would be instant, too.
After I had beaten the game, I had decided to take a picture of Trigger himself. I loaded up one of my many save files I had to the save point right before the first fight with Tron. And Snapped a picture of when he looks up at tron durring the intro cutscene. Sure it was a somewhat blurry picture, but it was instant and I had written "Megaman!" on it to commemorate me beating the game. I then put it on my wall along with a few other game character pictures I took later.
Sadly I dont have the picture with me here, but my mother has kindly kept watch and hold over my belongings. I wasn't able to take much with me when I moved away, and only gotten some items back. Wish I could scan and post the picture here though...hahah. Brings back memories. I think I might have also written a old journal entry about me beating the game too, but I cant confirm that as much.

I found myself smiling after I had beaten the first game. It's cool that the townspeople would wave goodbye to you.

Normal kids do not break couches after beating video games. I could see how someone could end up breaking a PS2 controller and a plastic box. I break giant plastic boxes all the time even now. They make horrible stepstools. But a 3-seat, full-on couch? Enough to make it completely unusable? It takes EFFORT to break a couch.

Huh. My first save game was only 45 hours long, and that was because I liked to just play around and pointlessly explore the game, and my little brother liked to "parkour" around the town on the buildings and stuff. I got halfway through the game the first day I played it, then realized I should slow down a bit and make it last.
Hm. I don't remember exactly what I did after beating the game. I wish I could remember more. I know that I also went to every single person and house after beating Juno and interacted with them to see what they'd say. I think I was dark Mega Man at the time, so it wasn't that great of a reception (I robbed the bank and kicked lot's of soda machines). Speaking of which, I was especially heartbroken when those ladies stopped saying "He's my kind of man", lol.
I do remember saying "Oh hey, that's the person who I did this for and that for, look Ira!" and things like that as the ship was flying away. I felt like I was Mega Man as he said "Hey everybodaaaaaay!" All my siblings were there, and we all had a nice family bonding time watching the ending cut-scenes. We stayed through all the credits, and busted up laughing at the "Babuuuu!" at the end, and we all said it a bunch of times after it was over. It became a bit of a meme for us, hehe.
It was just a nice fuzzy time for all. I didn't do anything special except be very happy and immersed in the experience.
Then we all played 3Xtreme.

Like most of my favourite games as a kid, when I beat it I cried. Not in a "This was so awesome" kind of way. Well, partially. But it was more of a "I'll never be able to go on adventures with these characters ever again, and I'll never be as cool as them, and I'll have to go to school for the rest of my life and then get a crappy desk job somewhere and then die while drinking prune juice". I talked to as many possible people as I could, doing everything I could to not make the game end. I even went around and looked at all of the random items. When I couldn't find anything else to do, I headed off. I think I had a blank look on my face throughout the credits, though I got happy when I saw the Bonnes at the end. But still, I was depressed for about a day. Er...Until I got side-tracked and forgot.
...Then it happened again when I beat MML2.
I'd choose breaking a couch over this, though. I'm actually surprised I didn't break couches when I was little, cause I drank a lot of Surge.

I said "Great, now I have to wait for the credits to end," or something like that. Then, after the Bonne scene ended, I thought to myself - and I remember this clearly;
"To Game XChange!"

I was half confused because I was playing on an n64 emulator and sometimes the voices are either cut off or lagging and out of sync. This resulted in me as an 17-year old student, who barely understood English to fail to realize what was the plot.
After I got another playtrough of higher quality (namely a psone emulator) and a better hold of the English language, I made another attempt... but the surprise was gone anyway since I already saw the same scenes. At least I understood the "renicialization" and "Megaman trigger" plot at the second time (I thought Data was Megaman Trigger... which is not entirely wrong but it isn't right either)
