Imagine MML1 is updated to MML2 standards and you can upgrade them further, and then release them as a bundle, what would you update and why?
I would personally add a Second Sight style targeting system to have the ability to aim within the aim so you can lead bullets and a softer lock on that does not necessarily keep the enemy in the center but still in your view.
You?
<edit> fixed the typo in the title, hope it changes the thread. Boy do I feel dumb.

I'd like to see Mega Man with the ability to run backwards and shoot at the same time, and better analog controls. The Legends 2 analog controls felt blocky to me.

I didn't even use the analog controls. Ugh.
I'll have to come back to this one, because I can't think of any upgrades that haven't already been stated, lol.

I can think of plenty of ways to upgrade the series, but some I think may be a bit too much.
For example, I knew there where limitations on disc space but now if given the option I would opt for the body part changes to actually be represented in game. Your first armor to be this cruddy, worn and rusty thing that actually looks used, and as you get better bodies your physical appearance changes.
I also thought it would be cool to have more body modifications, both for appearance and function. Such that if you are tenacious enough you can recreate other character's armor, easter egg armors from other games or just have your own Rock.
I also thought it would be downright great to be able to find and swap busters such that you can find a charge shot buster, a BN style buster (hitscan bullets) and other busters, all with their pros and cons that does not make one better than the other. For example, BN style buster would have low damage/fast fire with a necessity to push the fire button per shot. Charge would fire only 3 after which if the button is still held it will then charge, with energy upgrades making the charge faster. Etc, etc.
I'm SURE there are more ideas people have personally had.

Well the ock on is great for it's time but I think it certainly needs some modernization. I don't think find different busters is a good idea but maybe if the buster parts made a visable change. Also it would be nice if Rock could face the camera, like I always wanted a screenshot of rock facing the same way as the 'to town' sign. Changing the camera to the modern day standards would be a must but I'd like to keep the L1-R1 turning out of habit.

I'm guilty of being a fan of first and third-person shooters, so I'd modernize the controls so that the player can manually aim so that they can play the game like a third-person shooter. Of course, I'd keep the traditional MegaMan Legends controls as an option too in case people still want to use that.
I also agree that you should be able to shoot even if you're running completely backwards towards the screen.

Why everybody complains about the lock-on? Sure I can see why it is a bother in MML but in MML2 it is so cool... yes I like these type of games but I suck at aiming. So having a button that gives me the option to lock on to the nearest enemy (because obviously that is the first threat to take care of) is very useful...
But... The camera... eh... it could use a little bit of change. For example the left analog stick to move and the right one to move the camera. This should be also good for those FPS fans that if they have the auto lock-on off they could aim with the movement of the camera.
Oh and I would love something among the lines of the aiming system in "The Godfather" (for PS2) in which if you kept your enemy locked on the aim would change for their weak spot and possibly disarm them (the crosshairs turn red). Also you could move the aim so you can shoot their legs so they can't move or do some lovely headshots (if you shoot regularly it will aim at the center of the hitbox from your view.
Let's see... oh! DUAL ATTACK. I mean. Combining Buster and Special weapon or... better yet, TWO special weapons at the same time!
Some movement while attacking would be great as well, the jetskates feel so boring except in MML2 where you get a boost of height if you dash off a cliff. (and that is how I do the Nino ruins btw)

It certainly makes certain sections of the game easier to pass and some traps easier to avoid. Also necessary to get some of the clocks in the race mini-game. I always wished the camera in MML was more like the one in Ape Escape. Actually, that was a wish of mine, to have a Megaman game in the Ape Escape style.

Whenever I think of improving MML gameplay, I always think of Zone of the Enders gameplay. I'm not sure why, but I look at Zone of the Enders gameplay as a thing that MML could have evolved into eventually.
Fast-paced movements, locking onto several targets to launch a special homing attack, sliding left and right with the jet skates to make dodging barrages of bullets easier, speed-boosting toward a target for a flurry of melee attacks, assigning multiple special weapons to different buttons so you can use defensive and offensive weapons at the same time (like a shield and a gun). Of course, adding these in would mean the game's difficulty would have to rise substantially.

Why everybody complains about the lock-on? Sure I can see why it is a bother in MML but in MML2 it is so cool... The target lock was quite jarring in both games, snapping your view almost immediately. Most of the time in the fray, most notable for me would be Glyde's base, you would loose track of your physical position. Not only your position but your orientation is also broken. You end up running into things all over. The camera also sticks tightly on Trig making you blind to anything immediately behind him and below his waist. While it may seem like small problems individually, suffer from all these problems at once (debris on ground, tight quarters, unable to crowd control because of confusion with position) and you'll notice it hard. Not to mention moving enemies. Lock on shot where the enemy was at time of firing and self aim was a hassle. Most of the time, get up in its speedster face to get rid of it. Some movement while attacking would be great as well, the jetskates feel so boring except in MML2 where you get a boost of height if you dash off a cliff. (and that is how I do the Nino ruins btw) Now that you mention it, was the extra 'boost' even necessary at any point of the game? In the first game the boost was nigh unnecessary for the main game, but a bunch of mini games made use of it. In 2 it was also for the most part unnecessary, the only time I remember from the top of my head is Nino ruins, where at one point you need to dash jump across a long flooded room to grab the edge of a platform. The room had a part or schematics or something.

Better use of the jet skates is something I'd really like. They are one of the coolest parts of the game yet are mostly used to goof around. I think we've talked about giving them combat use but other little things would do. For lock on, one thing we can all agree on is that the lock on for air enemies is way too unwieldly, especially when it autoswitches to airships!
