If I come up with more characters, should I put those in a separate post or just add them to this one?
Character Type: Worker
Character Name: Pete
Background/Personality: A repairman with a passion for reading. He's always got a book in his tool belt and enjoys swapping books with his friends.
Location in Game: Inside the library, or a shop that could sell books.
Dialogue Line 1: Call me old-fashioned, but to me, nothing beats a good book on a slow day like today.
Dialogue Line 2: My favorite genre? Romance!
Dialogue Line 3: ...Yeah, nobody ever figures it on the first guess. But hey, don't knock it till you try it!
Character Type: Worker
Character Name: Sully
Background/Personality: A klutzy miner who always seems to be on the brink of losing his job. Can become melodramatic when he gets worried.
Location in Game: Buscan mines, near a steep dropoff
Dialogue Line 1: Oh, I am in so much trouble! Woe is me! This is surely the end!
Dialogue Line 2: For my job, I mean. I accidentally knocked a cart full of refractors off of this cliff.
Dialogue Line 3: It isn't the first time either. I really hope the foreman didn't notice...
Character Type: Plump Woman
Character Name: Betty
Background/Personality: The town gossip for either Tronne or Malt Island. Whichever's busier. She's always up in everyone's business. As a result of this, she sometimes inadvertently winds up giving Tuttle hints to progress in the game and tipping him off about sidequests...but other times, her gossip is, well, just gossip.
Location in Game: Out in the open in the busiest part of town, situated near other townspeople, chatting their ears off.
Dialogue Line 1: Hey there, stranger! Long time no see! How've you been?
Dialogue Line 2: Anyway, you'll never believe what Sandi saw this afternoon, not in a million years!
Dialogue Line 3: The baker ate a cake for lunch! A whole cake!!! She really needs to watch her diet more closely.
Character Type: Plump Woman
Character Name: Anita
Background/Personality: A frazzled mother of four
Location in Game: Dashe Island...where it's noticeably safer to let your kids run around town.
Dialogue Line 1: My kids? They're off playing with the neighborhood children.
Dialogue Line 2: I wish it were easier to keep track of them, but it beats having them in the house all day.
Dialogue Line 3: Then again, hunting them down so they can come home for dinner...that's always rough...
Character Type: Teen Girl
Character Name: Christine
Background/Personality: Wants desperately to become a digger. Her parents adamantly will not allow it, so she's willing to go to ridiculous lengths to make her dream come true on her own.
Location in Game: A junk shop
Dialogue Line 1: Hey mister, you look like you've got some money on you...
Dialogue Line 2: Would it be too much to ask for a loan? I need to buy some digging equipment and I'm a little short.
Dialogue Line 3: I promise I'll pay you back once I've gone on some digs and made some zenny!
Character Type: Teen Girl
Character Name: Skyler
Background/Personality: Shy and extremely awkward. Often trips on her own words. The sort of person who gets picked on a lot at school because she's an easy target.
Location in Game: In the shopping center.
Dialogue Line 1: Um...hi.
Dialogue Line 2: ...Why are you talking to me? You aren't in a gang, are you?
Dialogue Line 3: Oh man, that came out all wrong. Never mind, forget I said anything!
Character Type: Busy Lady
Character Name: Debbie
Background/Personality: A self-taught electrician and holon mechanic who makes house calls, she is well-known for her reasonable rates and high quality of work. Debbie is confident that her skills working with both electronic and holon devices are at least on par with the workers in the Quint Islands' primary power plant, but holds a ridiculous grudge against them for rejecting her application once. She has not applied to work there since, but if she did she'd probably get the job.
Location in Game: Appears on various islands. She tends to travel by airship.
Dialogue Line 1: If you ever find yourself in need of repairs, I'm your gal!
Dialogue Line 2: I can fix anything from a brand-new VCR to an airship engine in a jiffy!
Dialogue Line 3: Just ask any one of my satisfied customers. I've had clients on every one of the Quint Islands!
Character Type: Busy Lady
Character Name: Erin
Background/Personality: An overworked junk shop owner who could probably use some part time help.
Location in Game: Walking around town at night, while her store is closed
Dialogue Line 1: Phew! It feels good to be able to walk around like this and not worry about my shop.
Dialogue Line 2: Well, until I wake up tomorrow and have to man the register by myself all day again.
Dialogue Line 3: You don't happen to know of anybody who's looking for part-time work, do you?
Character Type: Old Man
Character Name: Rodrick
Background/Personality: He's hooked on a game called Kobun Card, which he plays in the park pretty regularly. He's convinced all the hip young kids in town are into it, too. He doesn't realize Kobun Card was last month's big thing.
Location in Game: In a park, or someplace else suitable for playing a card game
Dialogue Line 1: Hey there, you look like a hip cat! I can tell from looking at your dapper attire! How's about a card game?
Dialogue Line 2: You've heard of Kobun Card, right? It's all the rage! I bet kids even sneak the cards into school!
Dialogue Line 3: You want to know why the kids aren't lined up to play against me now? Cause I'd win, that's why!
Character Type: Old Man
Character Name: Leroy
Background/Personality: A veteran explorer who's isn't letting his age get the better of him. He's been mapping out Chizz Island for years and wants to create a new settlement, but he's having trouble getting people interested in relocating to such a harsh climate. He aggressively solicits anybody who passes by to settle in his, er, town...
Location in Game: Chizz Island, near a very shoddily made shack that he's been living in.
Dialogue Line 1: Why howdy! I'm the mayor of Leroyton, poplulation: 1! Welcome to my humble village!
Dialogue Line 2: This is probably the safest neighborhood in the region, you know!
Dialogue Line 3: ...Well, aside from the constant risk of heatstroke and dehydration. Still, the, uh, sand can't be beat!
Character Type: Teen Guy
Character Name: John
Background/Personality: He thinks he knows how to play the guitar, and he won't let you forget it.
Location in Game: Doesn't matter
Dialogue Line 1: Wanna know the best way to pick up chicks?
Dialogue Line 2: Become a guitarist. Really. If you take up guitar like I did, the chicks will be all over you.
Dialogue Line 3: Seriously. You only have to learn, like, three chords to impress people. It works like a charm.
Character Type: Teen Guy
Character Name: Tyler
Background/Personality: He's really into canes. More specifically, fighting with them. He is the self-proclaimed master of Cane Fu, but then again, he's never met anybody else who's used a cane for combat before either. Naturally, he's pretty glad to meet Tuttle. Nobody's sure when or why he decided to start using a cane as a weapon, but the rest of the town thinks he's a pretty weird kid.
Location in Game: Near a ruin
Dialogue Line 1: Hey! Nice cane! You use yours to beat up Reaverbots, too, right?
Dialogue Line 2: I can tell from all the dents and scratches on it. Wanna spar sometime?
Dialogue Line 3: Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're old!
