I dont use special weapons on him either, however I bet it would be fun to use the sword arm!
I kill him with my buster, and then I have fun kicking the treads with my foot, its been a long time, I cant remember if that does any damage or not, but I slow him down so I can get on top of him, blast the bat things, and avoid his arm, then I just shoot him when the door opens, kinda like how Pitch does it.

...Or maybe the dodge roll isn't reliable. The dodge roll has always worked fine for me. As for actual Marfwolf-crushing strategies, I do basically anything you guys have mentioned. I never shoot the treads. I dont use special weapons on him either, however I bet it would be fun to use the sword arm! Gameshark codes have confirmed that it is, indeed, fun to use the Sword Arm. ;D

Hey man! i havnt seen you in a while! I wonder if its possible to just kill him by kicking him, like kick the treads, then kick the servbot, and the tanks to death, and then kick the entrance to the cockpit.

Heheh, here's something I did once, and still enjoy doing.
I climb onto the deck of the Marlwolf, after having destroyed the treads and Leoparoes, and just wait for the hatch to open. When it does, I just start laying full power Splash Mines into the hatch.
I only had to use about four or five before Teisel went down. It's not the fastest way to destroy the Marlwolf, but I get a kick out of it.
Next time I face the Marlwolf (I have a save right before the Downtown battle, so I can pretty easily get to the battle) I'm going to kick the hatch.
That's right, I am going to kick the hatch until the Marlwolf explodes. It won't be easy, but it will be fun! ;D

vvv Note: This is my old strategy!! vvv I usually just take out the treads, it makes him slower, and get to the highest cliff you can get to and blast him with my buster, occasionally shooting the Machine Buster, he dies pretty quickly. vvv My current strategy vvv I do the same 2 steps, once on the cliff I'll jump onto his back, wait till the hatch opens, bombard him with powered up mines, If hes still alive, I'll jump back onto the cliff again to avoid him knocking me off, and shoot him with my buster to finish him off. I didn't do this before well, because I didn't know I could jump onto his back. o.o;; Out of these two methods I prefer the second. It's probably the only time I use the Splash Mines in the whole game...

Ah, the Marlwolf. It was the first time I ever learned frustration at a boss fight. It took me a while to find the sniper's nest.
Nowadays, I power up the Machine Buster, blow up the treads, then plant myself right next to the hatch so I don't get ripped off by the claws, then simply obliterate it with my machine gun. The rate of destruction is quite frightening.
I'll have to try those mines, though.
