Truner discovered a magazine-demo-style disc from Japan that had more early promotional footage for RMD1. Nothing new this time, but for anyone keeping a collection, it's a little noteworthy. I've taken the liberty of uploading the footage to Youtube for easy access and reference. There's about 2 minutes of various beta and demo footage spliced together, with a female voiceover talking about the game. There is no actual playable demo of MML on the disc, but this sort of presentation is typical of PS1 demo discs, for those old enough to remember them, where 2-4 games would be actually demoed, and another 3-5 would have a video trailer or other non-interactive featurette. Unfortunately, this disc seems to use non-standard .STR, so normal conversion tools like PSXVideo or PSMplay won't work. Links to an AVI file are included in the Youtube description. Truner is definitely going to hate me for beating him to the punch with the announcement. :41:

I got the preemptive attack (1st viewer). Exactly how did you sniff this out before anyone else found out on youtube?

That's "SketchMan3". Capital S, capital M and the number 3. It's official (nicknames are ok, though)

Oh cool, the Apple Market had a little extra depth to it.

'ServbotNULL' is my youtube account, the name comes from an in-joke about 2 years ago(!). I was the one who uploaded the video. As for actually finding the source, that was Truner's doing; it seems as though Japan-only PS1 demo discs aren't terribly known internationally (Altogether, now: "No shit, Chiz!") so even 15 years late, this is the first it's readily available.

@chiz:I got something better. "YA THINK?"
@truner: Sounds like fun. I don't think I get the same excitement when I use the search engine.
It's basically a mix of Rockman Dash and Rockman Neo. The Special weapon meter would change appearances frequently between shots. Although, I saw a blue bar on the right prong. Assuming that was special weapon energy, did they really plan on using Dash 2's system (aka the literal energy meter that may or may not require a cool down period, re[presented by the green bar refilling)?
Thanks for the video and you guys have successfully preserved a piece of legends history.

This is a rare, unknown piece of Rockman Dash history? I had the disc for years and I never knew. One would assume something like this wouldn't be new news for a Legends Community. After all, this is the Internet.
EDIT: Changed "I've had" to "I had" on the second sentence due to it being a typo that completely changed the meaning of the sentence.

Just last Sunday, I bought this very same disc. Is this really a coincidence? :24: Protodude brought the auction to my attention on Twitter, and I announced that I bought it. PS PLAYSTATION"PLAYSTATION GAME TRIAL DISC Vol.2"PROMO CHOCOBO ROCKMAN DASHI thought it was a real playable demo of it's own, and I was going to record footage of it, and later dump the disc. Then I found that video on YouTube. :01: At least there's other stuff in that disc to look forward to. =P

BrawlingSakura: Could you scan the material that comes with it? Or just the disc itself? That would really help. It seems I made a fatal typo. "I had" the disk. I don't have it anymore. Mom sold it together with most of our PSOne stuff and the console itself many years ago. It's just that, at the time, we didn't think it was rare at all. But OKeijiDragon got it and is willing to distribute it, so everything ended up right in the end.

You bought it for that much? Yahoo auction is going for 750 JPY... The Yahoo auction is, after all, an auction. It could end up selling for more. Besides, I believe he got it for a pretty decent prize. He even got Free Shipping too. ;D

At least there's other stuff in that disc to look forward to. =P I personally recommend the "Densha de GO!" and "Maria" demos - for a magazine-style demo disc, that's some quality gaming. And if you ever get your hands on Vol.1, the videos for A-Train 5, Bomberman World, and R?MJ will blow your mind.

You bought it for that much? Yahoo auction is going for 750 JPY... Despite my name, I don't live in Japan. And those "middleman" services that you pay a heavy fee service to have your items shipped to US buyers (Yahoo Japan auctions don't usually ship to the US in my observation) can suck someone's else money dry.

Wow, I never knew before now that there's another type of demo out there; even though it doesn't really have any new footage or anything.

WiiSX, really? At least use a setup good enough to record this stuff. I have AVerMedia HDDVR PCI-Express, a non-professional HD capture device that's installed into my PC. It comes with a dongle that I can connect a Composite, S-Video, or Component source to. I do have a good setup, mind you. For this video, I used Wii component cables and recorded at MP4. I would have loved to played this on a real PS1 like I have with my Neo video, but it's lens are worn out after doing so many disc swaps with Japanese games and CD-Rs ( actually, scratch that. I just used a GameShark disc and OMG, I can't believe I didn't resort to that from the beginning). So I dumped the game to an ISO and used WiiSX to record an play. It's an imperfect but still stable PS1 emulator for the Wii. For games running on it, it looks considerably better than a native console. For example, DASH 2: Episode 1 can't run stably for beans, but the illustrations on the title and mission select screen look amazing on it. In Component, mind you. And was that intro with the cover stuff needed? I mean, you could've uploaded the covers instead... Now why are you complaining to me about this when it took Chiz's video almost a minute to get to the trailer? I will say though, that you should expect a re-upload of this video and an ISO with it soon. Or like, now. And is it only me, or the colors look weird in the video? Funny. It was pretty bad when I played the demo on ePSXe emulator too. I guess .STR files look best when running on a real PS1. Did you really have to upload this video, anyway? Yes, because I wanted to. Enough? I mean, Chiz uploaded it already, with better quality video and audio wise, so it's not like you had to do it. EDIT 2: Fixed. Either way, it's good to know that your copy arrived. Is it worth the price? Not as a demo disc, but as a DASH material? Not really, but it's not like I bought it just for that material either. I'm coming out with footage of the Japanese Crash 2 and other games in time. I bought this disc because Protodude wanted to confirm what the DASH content in it was, and brought it to my attention. He along with others were going to blow cash on it, so I bought it for him. No strings attached. I'm uploading the ISO for all to share right now.
