PORCUBOTS Designer: Lou Smith (AKA ker-plop) The designer of the Sturms' miniature army went for something half intimidating, half adorable in creating the Porcubot. While gruff and sneaky, and malicious to their enemies, the Porcubots don't sass their masters like Glyde's Birdbots, and follow every order as best they can with loyalty. The Porcubot's claws are sharp for digging into the walls of ruins, and also attacking any diggers or Reaverbots in the area. However, they can also hold weapons and operate machines like the Servbots' hands. The Porcubot also has a few rows of quills on its back to deter foes from any physical combat (like kicking). Some Porcubots can have eye patches like Birdbots. Like the Servbot's taste for curry rice, the Porcubot has an affinity for fruit, especially peaches. If one sees the Sturms attacking a produce ship, it's probably a lunch run. Of course, in an oceanic world, fruit can be hard to come by, and so the Porcubot will (begrudgingly) eat other foods if none can be found. Though the Porcubots are terrors in the sky with their stoic attention to their work, and they fear no Reaverbot in the ruins, on the surface of the land, they have a major weakness: they are scared to death of vehicles with wheels, like tanks. Just the revving of an engine is enough to send the Porcubots scurrying away towards their ship, yelping like scared puppies. This is why the Sturms have never confronted the Bonnes and their tanks on terra firma. Also seen on DA: fav.me/d5c74h8

I've been following the progress of this game for a while, but I didn't make an account until I saw this contest. So I spent a couple days coming up with this design, but I left a few options as to the face or 'hat', and the color scheme can be changed completely if you feel it doesn't suit the Sturms very well. Man, I wanted to wait a bit and maybe fine tune it more first but I'm so anxious about this-- I intend on eventually designing stuff like this for a living, so this contest's pretty important.

How do you add images to these posts? I can't figure it out. First, make sure your picture is hosted somewhere like Photobucket or DeviantArt. Then, grab the picture's URL and paste it in between the image tags. You can get the tags by clicking the grey button above the servbot emotes that looks like a framed picture (to the right of the one that looks like Earth). You can get the picture's url by right clicking the picture and clicking "copy image url" form the menu that pops up. Hope that helps.

Introducing... The Drangbots! For those curious about the definition of Drang: dictionary.reverso.net/german-english/drangFollowing the impulse of the Sturm Force being pirates, the Drangbots wage war, pillage, and plunder for their leaders. Raining fire from above, the Drangbot's are loyal soldiers through and through. One can not stress their invaluable nature to the Sturm Force. ========================================================================================================== The Following is my detailed description of their design elements, coloring, and notable features ========================================================================================================== Design influenced by Skeletons, German Panzer Troopers, Samurai, and Pirates! Yet strangely cute in a weird funny way. Head is styled to appear as though they are wearing a helmet, can also be seen in certain ways as 'metal hair' giving them a stylish appearance. Commander units are given 'horns' for boosted communication range as well as a physical identifier for Drangbot forces. The commander units are given a red paint job to to help seperate them from their green troop soldiers. Their 'mouths' are styled after helmet chin straps, having a block for their mouth, kind of like how Bon Bonne has a pacifier for his. From certain angles this 'mouth' can appear as a mustache giving them a debonair professional soldier flair. Their helmet, arms, coat, waist protectors, shoulder joints, and legs are all colored to match their type be it red for commander units or green for normal units. The neck, mouth block, upper arms, upper legs, 'coat collar, and tops of the feet are collored black. All screws are in silver as are the rivets on the coat and the unshaded areas of the collar. Finally the face, hands, and torso are all in white. Commander units have green optics, giving a night vision goggle kind of stare when in the dark while normal troops have red optics. They as well have 'eyepatches' which would either be metal plating welded over the socket, a filter lenses which would be raised from the face plate with a larger optic glow of a different color, or even an old fashioned fabric one. They appear to be wearing an armored 'coat' which is inspired by real world WWII german panzer troop heavy trench coats as well as being gives a bit of a samurai and piratical flare, just enough to provide stylistically a relation to the the Sturm Force being pirates and pay a little homage to the land where MegaMan first was born. Seeing as the Drangbots are the dedicated troops of the Sturm Force Pirates, their legs are purposely built with out knees, similiar in style to the Servbot's. This however is to give them a sort of marching gait to inspire a sense of uniformity, military presence, and inspire fear into their foes as well as to give off a sort of wind-up toy soldier feel to them. For hands they have a pair of manipulator claw like hands, designed with four 'fingers', three to act as prehensile digits for grasping and one of which is the thumb. This way they can hold and use most forms of conventional weapons with some semblance of ease and are also fully capable of interacting with their environment and controling vehicles, ships, etc. Their design also has many vissible screws, this is to help portray them as older in design then the Servbots and Birdbots. As well as give them a bit of a 'toy' soldier feeling that makes them strangely cute. In part all the features lend to a slightly dark skeletal appearance due to the ever white face with glowing red or green optics, helping draw connotation to the death they bring to their foes. However this is also part inspiration of them being pirates, and part of them being soldiers. ========================================================================================================== The Following is my Estimated Thoughts on their personality and some notable interactions with the Leaders ========================================================================================================== Despite their appearances they are usually an ammusing lot. Half way dashing honor bound loyal warriors like James Bond and half way amusing show pirates like Jack Sparrow. They are a cocky, full of themselves, and like to always shout. "Sir, Yes Sir!" After addressing anyone of higher rank... Even an enemy police officer and much to the chagrin of Valyra who often has to correct them only to get a "Sir Ma'am, Sir!" instead. This being probably one of the few amusing things that the bots do to affect their boss's usual calm calculating form, whom having more then likely inheirted the bots from her father's era. As her father had been the leader at the time and drummed it into the little bots to always address superiors as Sir. This of course amuses Nodin to no end, who's got a fondness for these loyal fierce fighting rapscallions that have served with him through many intense fights, having an impeccable record of never leaving a man or bot behind. Sirocco on the other hand can occasionally get flustered with them, but generally respects the Drangbots overall as they due to sharing similar traits of both being strong and proud, seeking only to fulfill their duties. This has caused the bots to have a great deal of fondness for her, despite her relative new membership. To top this off the Drangbots have a bit of a flare for showmanship, blame it in part of why they look so dashing. Their standard fair is often burning through hatches to board opposing airships, with a fog machine pumping fog in from behind them with laser lights strobing in all dirrections as they burst in armed and ready. Boombox in the back blaring their pirate theme as confetti and streamers fly out all around as they announce who they are. It sure is a new form of shock and awe when it comes to these guys.

Deviant here: mizzybuddy.deviantart.com/#/d5dis94The Barkbot was inspired by Rush, Megaman's dog companion in the classic games. Its design contains the basic bot essentials, such as the head screw and the bolt buttons which are also found on the birdbot and servbot. From what I've noticed in the games, contrary to the birdbots, the designs of the bot don't necessarily have to reflect the designs of the machines. Tron and her bots, for example, are known for using a multiple range of machines that aren't always bipedal or human-like. However, this does not mean they lack birdbot similarities. Similar to the birdbot's "kekeke" cry, the barkbot barks out "ar, ar, ar," which is somewhat synonymous to a pirate's "argh" and a dog's bark. Seeing as the Sturms are the first feared pirates of the seas, I thought it appropriate to outfit them with the first domesticated animal: the dog. (At least, I THINK they're the first domesticated animal...) Btw, sorry for the page stretch.

Laast minute entry and cutting it close, I know. Here it is, the Sturmbot! draggeclo46.deviantart.com/#/d5dm2rsThe idea for this design is based off of the massive purple/blue airships that the group pilots. After looking at the designs for the Servbots and Birdbots, I tried to keep this design similar to the way that they were created. The head was based off the front of those large ships and of course the colors are the same. I figured that if people put 2 and 2 together then they'd realize that these bots belong to the most well known pirate group. I tried to keep the design as similar to the ships as possible with the fin on top of the head (signaling the aerodynamics of the ship and being the equivalent of the bolt or cylinder on the servbot/birdbot head). I kept the rounded shoulders and button design on the chest but in different positions. I took note of the legs of both the Servbots and Birdbots and saw how they usually seem to be 1 or 2 pieces and tried to replicate a pair of legs that detail the symbolism of the ships (once again aerodynamics/fins). The claws were nothing of importance but I figured that they would be the best suitable for this design. These Sturmbots are more akin to the personalities that the Birdbots have. They are a no-nonsense group of robots and do whatever it takes to complete their mission(s). They do have ranks among themselves and while it wasn't set in stone by the pirate group, the first bot created took on the role as the general of the Sturmbots (and created special shoulder pads signifying his dominance). This certain Sturmbot only takes orders from the Sturm Force pirates. The only thing that sets these bots from destroy to 'hug-able' is the ocean. For some odd reason they are fascinated with it. Compared to the Servbots and Birdbots, these Sturmbots are durable and can take a punch. They are made of better materials and while still 'disposable' are known to return in fair condition. I have a few more pics at my deviantart. draggeclo46.deviantart.com/Included is an alternate shoulder design that could be used for the general bot or higher ranked Sturmbots.

I'm a little late coming here, but I drew up 2 entries for the contest! On the SmogBot, I wanted the arms to look all crazy and lanky like vacuum cleaner tubes, but I don't think I conveyed that very well. The ring at the top of his head is supposed to be an antennae, and kind of goes with how BirdBots and ServBots have little head decorations. The FrogBot's eyes, I feel, should be glassy or gel-like (but the white things in the pic are intended to be pupils). Maybe each one's tail could be a distinct color, too.

It's cool to see the thought that some of you are putting into these designs and personalities! I think we've got a lot of diversity here for only 19 entries.
Anyone still interested it, it's not too late to enter! This Event runs through September 5th, meaning it doesn't end until we hit the 6th in the Pacific time zone.

This is my third and last sturmbot entry! It is a further fusion off all the entries, atleast an attempt at doing so. I was inspired by the birdbots this time where a few were slightly different, i have created the base design (shown as full body and lower left head) and 4 other designs to be the 'unique' sturmbots. the one on the top is the oldest and is the leader because he is the largest! (1 inch taller then the rest), his design is slightly different because he wears a bullet strap. he has a bad temper and a deeper voice then the rest, like tuttle -unfortunate events plague this sturmbot-. In the second row to the left is a sturmbot who has a bizzare obsession with baseball refrences and is more lighthearted, he wears a dragonesk shaped baseball helmet and carries around a bat. in the second row to the right is a sturmbot who falls asleep on the job a lot and actually hates being in the sky, he prefers to be at sea on a boat. he is second in command in the sturmbot crew, and when he gets his way...anything air related is avoided unless necessary. in the third row is the bottom of the sturmbot pack, he is such a screw up even the regular sturmbots tell him what to do. he has a cuter lighter voice and is very friendly... to the point where he even helps his enemies then is scolded after doing so. his body is slightly diffrent cause he treads on rollerskates. last is the remaining 16 Sturmbots in which they are general helpers that perform the tasks handed to them by the crew. they come in many different personalities. i left the colour palette open this time but i imagined some of the 'lead' sturmbots are diffrent coloured and the rest use the base colours. also because of the "wind-esk" theme i put little windmill looking antennae on the top of their head, the only ones who seem to be missing this is the leader and the baseball kid.

I went ahead and colored my first design just in case it wasn't obvious it's based on Sirocco's armor. I get a rookie vibe from her so I imagine her armor is something a low-ranking member of the Sturm Force would wear, so it'd be appropriate for the foot soldier robots to wear something similar right? haha. And the second one is just a design I did back when I did the first one. It doesn't feel as solid and seems like it'd be too complicated for a character you'd see a lot of, but I thought I might as well submit it anyways.

Went for an amiable, dumb-muscle-henchman sort of feel with these. I imagine them as being tough, dedicated, and well-meaning, but perhaps not overly competent (more or less so depending on the cuteness quota that needs to be filled). So, oversized forehead, half-closed eyes, and a bit of a top-heavy shape. Palette is based mostly on Nodin's. Besides that, tried not to stray too far from the Servbot/Birdbot template. May post some additional sketches and maybe one more design later, if time allows.

Guys, is it too late to request a time extension? I really wanted to enter but i was assigned to work outside of town for a week and i'm not back 'till saturday. I could submit something on saturday, but i understand if there can be no time extensions, since all the other guys did manage to submit in time and stuff.
