I have 1 mbps upload, so yeah, you can race fine. usually you need about .125 mbps for a basic stream.
The program I use for splits is wsplit, you can download that at Speedrunslive.org
For streaming, you'll need manycam or use a webcam at screen if you have a weak computer.
And, I've only been practicing for two weeks, so, you can learn this game really fast if you put your head to it!
I'd suggest pSX or ePSXe for emulation. If you don't have an ISO, you can always put the game disc in your computer and they will read it from there. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me and I'll give you further assistance.

Ok we have a set time for the race now 6PM CST, me and JMC will be chatting on skype and accepting co-hosts before the race starts as once it starts we can't accept invites unless our co-host we get accepts invites, me and JMC's skype accounts are Trege100 and JMC4789. If you chat in ustream I probably won't be able to respond since most of the time we can only respond during fadeouts in game and sometimes they don't last long enough.

I'm going to do a console run of MML1, and get a submittable record in order to take the time. Then, I'm going to take down MML2, which has a few really crazy strategies. There is no good run of MML2 yet, so, if anyone wants to be a part of making the Legends 2 route, please let me know!
Also, if anyone else wants to watch, the current record (to my knowledge) is in a highlight on my videopage. I can also upload it to youtube if need be.

Interesting show last night, guys. I caught it at the beginning up until Trege beat Bon while JMC finished off Marlwolf. Had to leave for a while, came back and the game had just ended. @_@ That was... fast. I guess I've never really payed much attention to speed running in general, so it was kind of an eye opener to watch the game played that way. Can't imagine how much time you guys had to sink into learning all the tricks and practicing for that.

@fab: To my knowledge, there were two speedruns that night. Did you leave during the first one, and come back for the end of the second? If so, it might make the speedrunning that much more amazing. Anyways, I thought that was a fun night. Intense boss battles (lolnoshieldandonehitleftinthehealthbar), humorous dialogue, and, of course, our official sponsorship from Durr Pepper. Looking forward to the next one!

Heh, nah, JMC had 57 minutes completion time and they were talking about doing the second one. I was going to stick around for a bit of that one as well, but for some reason my Internet wouldn't stream worth a crap.

Yeah it was fun playing the game again the whole week we were training, I still managed to die in the first race drawing with freaking fokkerwolf :06: I may play legends 2 a bit to help out on the routing process for when we decide to race that although we will probably race MML a few times still.

I got my PS2 hooked up, a capture card set, and I'm planning to take down the SDA record on console. If anyone wants to race me, just message me and we can set something up. I have no sound until Wednesday, but, it's not a big deal. I can still race with emulator if that's a problem.
My goal for the record is a clean sub 55 run, hopefully 54:40ish (assuming perfect luck and very few screwups.) I'll try to stream all my attempts, so keep your eyes open for me!

Damn! 55 minutes? that blows me out of the water. I've never tried to speedrun but I doubt I could do that. I just got a new laptop and Im going to install a emulator on it soon so I can get in on the next game. is there a date for that yet?

Right now there's nothing official, but most days I'm game to a race. We can set something up within minutes if need be! I'm guessing we could do another big Kattelox race/skype the sunday after next, make big races an every other week thing.

You can never have too many races *. You guys get to practice your routes, other people get to watch the stream and interact with each other. It's a win-win situation. *Unless it's "Day at the Races" from Mario Party 2, but hey, that game is evil.

Well, we don't have anything special organized. I do have MegaMan Legends 2 routed out now, and recently did a single segment test run at just under 2 hours. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but I'd like to think that times are going to go down at least five - ten minutes once we start discussing routes!
If anyone's interested in seeing me write up tips/tricks and routing information for MML2, just let me know!

Watching now, and I gotta say, JMC. That is one of the most underhanded tactics for beating the Flutter's Fire scene.
