So games reuse parts or entire graphics engines, code components, and so on... what about it?

There's definitely similarities, but even if they were yanking content from Legends 3 for E.X. Troopers, so what? There's not much we can do to reverse things from the way they are now. Personally, I'm not buying it myself; simply because I'm not interested in anything to do with Capcom anymore. Harsh reasoning, but entirely true. I haven't made a purchase from them since TvC.
But... yeah. If this is an indication that Capcom has the time and nerve to grind elements from a perfectly good game into a whole new knockoff series, then so be it. Between me and the Internet, I'll bet any amount of money that E.X. Troopers ends on a cliffhanger that never gets resolved. Savvy?

I took it as another passive-aggressive shot with "We had Legends 3 ready to go, but we'd rather make a Lost Planet spinoff game instead!" kind of deal. Because the world is clamoring for that.

So games reuse parts or entire graphics engines, code components, and so on... what about it? Quoted for truth. For example, let's not forget MegaMan Legends 3 was using a portable version of the MT Framework-- the same framework that was used by both Lost Planet games in the first place. I find it very unlikely that Ex Troopers will be using a different framework, too. So yeah, there's one asset these two games might have in common. <__< Also, let's not forget that Lost Planet's gameplay was compared to MegaMan Legends long before MegaMan Legends 3 was even announced, let alone cancelled. (In fact, it was one of the big teases that set this place off speculating in the past, that it would be all too easy for Capcom to drop Legends' characters/setting into the Lost Planet engine..) Most importantly, let's not forget that MegaMan Legends doesn't own the fucking patent on its genre, because other than the fact that this game appears to be a 3rd person adventure title, I don't see what similarities people are bitching complaining about. Someone wanna fill me in? Because Ex Troopers looks to me like it's got a style all its own. The art style is very different, even though it's anime-ish too. The music doesn't sound anything like Legends's. The story/envirornment (at least as much as can be determined from the trailer) are nothing like Legends. Hell, the gameplay doesn't even seem entirely similar; the only real similarities I see is how the player moves around and shoots*. And Legends didn't invent that. Legends doesn't own that. Get over yourselves. This game looks like fun. (Another thing it has in common with MegaMan Legends 3, I suppose. ) I hope it gets a US release. I'll probably buy it. * EDIT: After re-watching some of the Prototype trailers, I don't even think this seems that similar, honestly..

@pitch: The first thing that came to mind is how loads of games use the Unreal Engine. It is just that good. Also, reusing code and components is only logical from a production standpoint. They're producers, not artists free to do as they please. Because the world is clamoring for that. [citation needed]

Fair enough. I figured a Lost Planet spinoff wouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but if the last few posts are any indication, maybe I'm wrong.

I saw the trailer linked on twitter or something, so I clicked on it. I immediately fell for the artstyle, it looked pretty amazing to me. I didn’t even realize it was a Capcom game until the logo popped up at the end (if it was shown before that or something, I totally missed it). In fact I had no idea what I was watching. I never played Lost Planet so I didn’t know this was some sort of spinoff of that, I just clicked the play button to see the trailer.
Anyway, I didn’t notice anything related to Legends…most likely because I wasn’t looking for any imo. I had no idea this was from Capcom. Maybe they are reusing stuff from MML3, but maybe they’re not. I don’t know…I’m not really bothered by it at the moment. I will admit the two characters look similar, though.

I spotted Grill about a minute in, but that was it. If anyone does pick up the game, finds cameos and reused assets, and has any way to take screenshots, MMLS's main site has a section for exactly that sort of thing.

More Capcom news, but this one sounds like a good deal for those that haven't jumped onto the recent Street Fighter games' bandwagon but were thinking about it. Capcom has announced a 25th Anniversary Collector's Set for $150 which includes Super SF II Turbo HD, Super SF IV Arcade with all costume DLC, SF III: Third Strike, and SFxTekken with all character and costume DLC. You'll also be getting a ton of extra content like the entire Street Fighter cartoon series on DVD, an art book, and a huge soundtrack set. I'm pretty down on Capcom lately, but this looks like a great deal for fans of Street Fighter.

Dang it. Guess I'll save the tinfoil hat for some other time. In all seriousness, I'm glad I read that article. Again, with the way the last year and a half or so has gone for the Blue Bomber, I really only care about seeing some good news for the dude, you know?
I'm ready to focus on the good stories right now more than anything else. Once E3 hits in the next couple of weeks, this thread should explode with awesome info on games.

E3's been pretty tame so far from two of the three big companies. Microsoft spent most of their own conference talking about features although did show Halo 4 for a bit (no interest from me on it, but you all might care) while Sony went up on stage and pretty much left the Vita hung out to dry while barely having anything of note on the PS3.
Ubisoft probably had the best conference so far. They seem to understand that it's about the games and were showing potential hit after hit. I'll say this about them. They were a cheaper company at the start of this generation, but they're probably the best third-party company out there with the multitude of franchises they have out there right now. Even Activision is pretty much the CoD/Spider-Man company now.
Nintendo's conferences should be interesting, and yes, that's plural. They're having one for the Wii U today while the 3DS will get its own tomorrow if I was reading it right. If they show some Wii U games instead of merely making announcements, they'll more than tell me they came to this E3 prepared to storm the industry with their newest product yet again.

I found it strange that many mentioned the E.X. Troopers/ Legends 3 similarities, while what seems to be the only things similar to the two would be the fact that they use the same engine and the Grill cameo.
Looking forward to Nintendo's conferences.
