I'd probably want something close to Ikari Warriors, with top-down view and multi-directional shooting while moving any any direction you want. With some improvements too, of course, like jumping!

A 2-way Mahjong game where you can choose your opponents, with dialogue and bonus CG with every consecutive win.

The Metroidvania style would definitely be the most suitable style for a 2D Spin-Off of MegaMan Legends.

I dunno, it just seems like the game would lose so much being a 2D Metroid-like view. The towns would be flat, and you'd have to go from house to house like in Zelda 2. With top-down, you can still move about freely, but the action game play might turn out less fun.
Maybe they could mix it up, have Metroidvania for ruins and top-down for outside.

Where is... oh nevermind *votes Other* And which am I speaking to you say? THISA Battle Network/Star Force overworld style (by overworld I mean out of battle) I don't know why I love that 3D style, I guess you could say Top-down style but I think with the camera a tad bit lower than what we see in the link would be perfect. ... I just hate to bring that up because I wished that would be true instead of April fools *gazes at the fake screenshots once more*

They'd have to do it as a top-down view "Zelda" style in order to keep the platforming elements.

With top-down, you can still move about freely, but the action game play might turn out less fun. Maybe they could mix it up, have Metroidvania for ruins and top-down for outside. That's an idea. In addition to emphasizing the "safety" of a town verses the danger of a battlefield, it would also give it a familiar feel for kids who got into Megaman through the MMBN series. I guess the Legends fans would be left out no matter how you look at it, lol. =(. To supplement that, I guess the oh-so-essential story elements would have to be emphasized to appeal to us. The NES version of Rygar was kind of like that, except both modes were action packed. Another way to get around the flat town feeling would be to add an "appartment complex" like feel to the towns, making them more vertical, and linking the different areas of the town through either gates or streets (like in "Mario is Missing") or both. I think I may have put too many options up there... hehe. I shouldn't have made it so specific, but w/e. I think, technically that would fall under the "Ikari Warriors" category in terms of pure combat style. I knew I forgot something... I was definitely going to put an "Isometric" option up there. That MMBN overworld style is a bittersweet topic for me too.

"Isometric" eh? Well I knew there would be more like BN style but I never saw so I never knew it would have a name.
