I made a patch for the legends game that fixes a couple of text errors. But thats not the point. The patch comes with the table file for the game, as well as a text with some stuff I found on the cd that wasn't put into the game. With this, you can change the entire dialogue of the game, possibly add stuff, etc. It also shows you how to make a working copy of the cd, and all how to patch the game. There are a lot of possibilites for this game. Who knows? If someone tries hard, new levels could be put into the game. Even a level editor. My friend let me use the graphics program he made for non-tim graphics. I don't think I can give it away, but if someone is interested in changing some graphics... It would be a fun project to work on. I don't know how levels are stored yet, but it wouldn't be too hard to find out. the patch can be found at romhacking.deadbeat-inc.com/. go to rom hacks and type duo under Search Group/Person name. or you can get it at my website, but its down a lot.

Hmm, sounds nice, but a bit too nice. The phrase "Too good to be true" applies. It just seems as if it's not entirely possible, considering if it were that easy, then someone would have mentioned this before. Eh, I don't know. I may check it out later, thanks.

I spent a lot of time on the patch and documentation and I love megaman legends. I'd like to see some fan levels. Anyway, finding the text was easy, but the levels might not be. It is necessary to write down how every block was placed in a level and then find something that matches that patter in the game. Nobody did it before only because no one cared enough about the game, or just didn't know where to start. There is a lot of extra space in the cd to add stuff on, even if it's only text. Levels would be nice, but I can't do that by myself.
But like I said, in the patch there is a text file with some stuff I found on the cd that wasn't put into the game. That at least is worth checking out if you like megaman legends. Actually, I was looking at the "level" names. The cd data is put together into the different "levels" megaman goes through. Sometimes the level numbers didn't match up. For example 1a 1b 1c 1e 1f 1g 1h, where d is missing. This means that extra scenes were supposed to be put in, but were taken out for some reason or another. I bought the japanese version of the game to see if these were in it, but no. It would be cool to find out though. Anyway, the basic format for a "level" or scene is 1 contains level data 1a-z contains events for "level" 1 along with all the text at the bottom.
The game itself isn't that well made, however. A lot of code is repeated, where the difference of 1a to 1b could be just a couple of lines of text, and each file is around 500kb+. This could be a hassle as more than one file would have to be patched.
So if you're interested, get a copy of the game on your computer, using the methods described in the patch, and have fun. Most of the stuff I found has the filename and hex address for where it was found.

Wow, its great to see some one with the technical know-how make patches for a Legends game. If you can, you should try and find the PC version of legends 2 to patch up.

Its not really THAT hard. If you know any programming language and have some common sense, you can do it as well. Look at the file, linksadventure.no-ip.org/duo/play.htm. There are no exe files so you don't even have to worry about viruses. I looked at megaman legends 2 for ps1 as well, but everything is compressed (so it will be to hard to decompress, and its not really worth it) except for some weird graphics, a strange character that isn't in the game, and designs of the ship that also aren't displayed on the game, which look pretty cool. Looking at both games, it seems as though capcom wanted them to be bigger than they were, especially for legends 1. There are so many cut out and cut down files. It seem not too many people are interested, though... The pc version of the games will probably be a LOT easier to work with. No compression. I never found one though. If someone finds it for me, I'll take a look. Even a demo, but preferrably not. I would love to get a level editor or something, and it would be a lot easier with the pc version, I think. --- Never mind, I just bought the pc version brand new off ebay for $5.00. I'll put a copy on my site when I get it. Expect cool stuff to happen in a couple of weeks. ----------------------------------------------------- DOUBLE POST! HERE IS SECOND POST: I just got a model editor for megaman legends. I found by accident actually. It can rip and reinsert character models. So this means- new weapons, enemies, and the like. It would even be possible to change megaman's color, I think. Red would look nice. The problem is that it is a LOT easier to edit existing data than insert new data. Well, we'll see when I get the game.

yea duo you should delete one of the post but that's not the point. If want someting like level editors and multiplayer...etc, you can always mod MMl if you know how.

Bugging N64 cartridges too is extremely easy... I've done it to Super Mario 64, MegaMan 64, and I believe Donkey Kong 64. It's really fun, too. Having Trigger run through Apple Market backwards, when you're running forward.

I love looking at stuff that was cut out of final versions of games.

There was one character left out. He looked like some sort of old guy. And the ship was just a diagram. It was cool though. Could be used for something. More interesting was the extra stuff in megaman legends 1. I should be getting the PC game today or tomorrow, so expect a copy of it on the site (if its not too big) and a patch soon afterwards fixing most of the stuff that was messed up in the windows port. I'd like to get a red outfit for megaman next, and then, if possible some new levels or a level editor, depending on how hard it is. Hopefully this will go a lot easier than the playstation version. psx cds really limit the amount of stuff you can do. There are also a lot more tools for windows programs. I am still encouraging everyone to look at the playstation file I already put out. There is a lot of information there, and if anyone's interested and understands the stuff in the file, they could always help me out. Just give a private message. I'll try to put pictures of the "secret cd stuff" on the website. Is anyone interested in hosting it here? I think it would be more applicable since my site is really more general and people already come here for mml stuff. ---Here are some pictures from MML2, The top one is more interesting. and another one, both from MML2

Wow, pretty cool. They seem to be the map and face textures used in the game. Let us know if you find any other interesting stuff.

Looks pretty good! I think I can identify most of those images so far.
The top picture with all the maps...
from top to bottom:
1) Yosyonke, including the rails that continue eastward (Bonne Train Battle) 2) Forbidden Island 3) Manda Island (Pokte Village) 4) Unsure (Glitched Nino Island?) 5) Calbania Island 6) Saul Kada Island (incl. Oasis) 7) Elysium 8) The Flutter
The Sulpher-Bottom, Nino Island, and all the ruins look to be generated differently from the rest of the maps...however, you found the Flutter, so you might want to dig around more for the SB's and the sheet used to generate the ruin maps (if it exists)
As for the other picture...a lot of it is pretty messed up (possibly not used for images? Did you accidentally grab some of the game data itself and had it interpreted as an image?) However, the characters that appear are, from top to bottom: 1) Roll (hat and some clothing) 2) Yuna 3) Von Bluecher (head and clothing) 4) Matilda (I think) 5) Von Bluecher 6) Barrel
Hopefully more of the secrets of the ISO are unlocked soon.

T'would be great if Capcom, accidentally, left a transcript of the whole MML3 game on the MML2 disc in a hidden folder of some sort.

I have the demo, but the american version. I have rockman dash, mml, mml for pc, mml2 and misadventures of tron bonne. The american demo is too similar to the real game so I think it was released at the same time.
Levels aren't stored in pictures. The pc version of the game isn't that good, actually. The control isn't great. Anyway, there are no hidden folders and the script is stored along with the parts of the town and individual events. Its not in a seperate file.

Easiest way to obtain the Rockman DASH 2: Episode 1 demo is to buy the UMD off of an online source (it comes in the same UMD as Rockman DASH 2) like I did. However, to the best of knowledge, one can't do much to extract information off of a UMD. You may know another method, though, so go right ahead and import it.
Now you could get the Episode 1 demo for PSX, but I've tried searching for such on eBay and other bidding sites, and returned with nothing. So like I said, the UMD is probably the easiest way to go.
