Normally my opinion on game re-releases is rather low, especially if they have been ported onto every system imaginable.
However, I do have to notice that out of all the Megaman series, Legends has been the least current. They were only for one system, and that system has been obsolete for years now. Heck, I only managed to get full playthroughs of MML1 and TB on an emulator. I still haven't played all of Legends 2. Re-releasing the old games could give new people a chance to play them and increase the market for Legends 3.
So, my question is, should Capcom re-release the first three megaman legends games on another system, should it be a re-release, or a remake, and what system should it be for?

They wanted to re-release the games on PSN, but they were hitting roadblocks for copyright reasons. They said it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with things like voice acting, so I can only imagine what it would be. If they wanted to do a re-release they would almost have to remake it, if they want to be able to sell it to a non-Japanese audience. And, speaking of Japan, if there were going to be a remake it would probably have to originate there. I wouldn't bet on Capcom USA picking up a project of that scale by themselves; they mostly just do the localization. Considering the PSP ports as best as I can tell are still available in Japan to this day, I don't think that's very likely, because Japan doesn't have any particular need for another re-release.
I would buy them. Again. But I'm not holding my breath.

Well let's see, we already got Classic and X Collections on PS2, and Zero Collection on DS, so why not put the Legends Trilogy on PS2? Or is the PS2 dead now?

From what I've read, my theory is that the only game with the copyright problems is the first MegaMan Legends.
I doubt Capcom might re-release MML2 and MoTB alone, especially after the cancellation of MML3.

I think that the famous names mentioned in the Manda Island trivia questions of MML2 are probably among the copyright issues. Some examples include groups, famous names, significant events, etc.
The best option that Capcom has right now IMO is to remake the Legends games like they did with MMPU and MMMHX. Remove the portions that contain the IP issues, revise the control timing, improve the graphics, and possibly reboot the Legends/DASH story a bit.
Significant improvements that fix control issues could convince critics against the Legends series to finally appreciate the Legends games.

Capcom would rather release MegaMan Legends 3 than investing the money on making remakes.

Let me go on a tangent on this whole port idea:
Like what has been discussed on this thread and in other parts of this forum, the copyright issue is due to content in the game(s) which have copyright issues now, which would not have been of much impact back then, hence the inability to make a remake.
With this in mind, the next logical step would be to 'simply remove the offending articles from the game(s)', right? As Sudo Iwaki X mentioned with the Manda Island Trivia Questions, most of us are probably thinking swapping them out with rewritten questions would solve one (if not all) the copyright issues. Hypothetically assuming that this is the only problem, this sounds like a quick fix right? However, this has not been the case for various reasons unknown beyond childish armchair speculation.
Assuming all game company policies are the same when it comes to remakes, it is not possible to rule out the restriction of re-releasing ports with non-game-breaking changes under the same name. Case in point using a popular game for an example: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (not counting the touched-up version for the 3DS).
Not counting collections, it was first released for the N64, and then re-released for the Gamecube with the Master Quest, then put up for purchase via Wii's Virtual Console. The change in question being the design of the Mirror Shield, which first had an insignia consisting of a crescent moon and a five-pointed star but was changed to the sign of the Gerudo. This was due to it resembling the Islamic Symbol (by coincidence or by design), and was therefore changed for all non-N64 releases.
Using this case as an example, the alteration of the trivia section of DASH 2 would not affect the gameplay beyond having to re-research the questions (or use an updated guide when it comes out). That stated, a small change like this would only be logically restricted by the game's inability to turn a profit relative to other company's games (e.g. Monster Hunter Series), the lack of manpower to allocate for a small port project, or another reason we are unable to prove decisively.
Any sensible questions?

I'm going to agree with you, mostly because I still haven't been able to play MoTB and I want to REALLY BADLY.

I agree that they should remove the offending material that prevents the game(s) from being re-released. There are many people that had never played all three games (if any) and would really like to play them. But, the original games are so rare and/ or expensive to get.
